2014 College Football General Thread

Are you trying to pick a fight or something? I disagree with your assessment and I’ve already acknowledged that Oregon was the better team today (that’s why they got congratulated, after all).

So yes, I take umbrage with your mischaracterization of my attitude and your seeming outright dismissal of any opinion that doesn’t parrot your own. I find that attitude really annoying.

Okay?

Can we be done with this? We don’t agree. I’m fine with that.

Arghhhhhhhhh, these fucking asinine allstate mayhem commercials are making me stabby. It was a semi cute idea 8 years ago. But playing the same stupid premise over and over has actually made me hate something more than pOS-U

Not so fast my friend.

Started trying to type this at halftime and then after the 1st score in the second half but I’ve had computer problems. Still a tossup.

tOSU and Bammy game is close to giving us an interesting Nat Champ game.

Still a tossup, but the Tide just might lose.

I’m posting about an annoying pattern of fan behavior I’ve observed over the years. Instead of realizing that an opponents offense or defense can outplay ones own, a typical response is to say that “our” offense or defense just didn’t show up.

While it does happen, it happens far less than the excuse is used.

I call out fans of my team also. We played a team with a great defense and our fans were saying crap like “we were dropping balls and missing passes, we beat ourselves” and I had to point out that the missed passes were due to rushed passes due to pressure due to them having a great defense.

Ducks vs. Bucks!

No SEC!

The bowls have proved how over rated the SEC is this year and yet without the playoff there was no chance we would have left the SEC out of the BCS title game. The playoff are already better then I expected.

Go Ducks

What a satisfying day of football (for all us SEC haters that is :D).

If the sec wins on the field with a 4 team format I will certainly give them credit, but the previous years of 2 teams just had too many deserving teams left out.

OoOOOOOOOOOHHH, THE MIGHTY SEC! HOW MIGHTILY THE MIGHTY SEC HAS FALLEN! WHERE WILL PEOPLE IN TENNESSEE AND LOUISIANA TURN TO BOLSTER THEIR SELF ESTEEM NOW? WOE!

You can say that again. The SEC West had five ranked teams in bowls, and they all lost. The least embarrassing loss was the 42-3 shellacking of Ole Miss; at least that was a game they were supposed to lose, since they played a team ranked higher (#6 TCU vs #9 Ole Miss). But #23 LSU lost to an unranked team; #7 Miss State lost to #12 Ga Tech; #19 Auburn lost to #18 Wisconsin (and in OT, so I guess that’s actually the least embarrassing loss); and the cherry on top, #1 Bama lost to #4 OSU.

The SEC East had two ranked teams, and they actually won their bowls, but they were supposed to, since they were ranked at least 8 places higher than their opponents.

And you guys lay off Bo. Don’t forget he took FSU and the points. He’ll probably have to eat Ramen and Spam for the next month.

Mississippi?

Criminey. I mean, yeah, the SEC faithful can be pretty obnoxious – kind of like Steelers fans – but geez, calm down. They lost the #1 spot last year, but put up a darn good fight. Lost it again this year, but I would hardly call it “fallen far”. Well, OK, they lost it to the B1G, that is pretty humiliating.

You must be mistaken, sir. FSU’s women’s basketball team doesn’t play Notre Dame until tomorrow night. Good luck with that!

Well, you were half right. The Ducks won’t be getting any first downs against Bama.

Well, watching college football today was about as close to a twelve hour orgasm as I ever hope to experience. Satan’s Evil Conference was roundly humiliated, the non-rapey Heisman winner seized the day in the Rose Bowl (the only bowl that really counts), and the national championship will be decided between the Pac 12 and Big 10, just as God**** commanded to Moses on Mount Sinai. GO DUCKS!!!

Took the words right outta my mouth. What a delicious day of college football!!

I felt pretty good about the Ducks against FSU, but it was too much to hope that Alabama would get bitch slapped by Ohio State. But there it was!! Right in front of my unbelieving eyes!! And Ohio State was so fun to watch!! They will lose to Oregon on the 12th, but I am hella impressed by their effort today. Best to the Buckeyes, with respect.

That picture of Winston falling backwards and hurling the ball up into the air for no apparent reason at all will be my screensaver for quite some time. Some Internet wag has already dubbed it “Manti Te’o’s girlfriend’s first career sack”!

I’m tickled pink!

I ain’t got a dog in this, no way, no how, but that was a terrific pair of games. The only thing that didn’t happen was Alabama tying OSU after the difference became seven points (or fourteen). I was wishing for that 'cause college footbal, as you’d agree, has the greatest OT’s in sports. Anyway, congrats and condolences all around as they apply and here’s to a fourth quarter lead change in the championship game!

I’m glad FSU lost, and the Ducks looked pretty impressive. Their speed is definitely going to be key.

I was torn since I have ties to OSU and Alabama, but in the end I rooted for the Bugeyes since the Saban worship in Bama drives me nuts. Good game, and OSU didn’t play like a traditional Big 10 team (slow and methodical). Looks like fast and furious is the current way to win in college football.

Looking forward to the championship game.
