Timber!
I’m alone in 1st! Go me!
Checked the last place bracket, see if they can catch up. Doubt it, lost Sweet 16 team.
Through half of the 1st rd. only 1 wrong pick, which means it’ll go to help tomorrow.
Just wait until Kentucky wins it all…then you’ll be sorry!
Hilariously, one of my brackets is leading in the abandoned, Yahoo bracket. Woo-hoo?
Checking both the ESPN and Yahoo pools this morning (total of 33 brackets):
etv78 is in the lead with 150 points
Three brackets have 140 points
Seven brackets have 130 points
14 brackets have 120 points
Seven brackets have 110 points
And one bracket has 100 points.
So nobody completely tanked yesterday. I’ll put up combined standings Saturday morning after the first round is complete.
Damn you Aaron Craft and your misguided hero-sense. I would have been tied for first if he had passed it to one of his open teammates. I expect to tumble down the board today… whenever I have a decent run on Thursday I follow it up with a lousy Friday.
I was for while too.
Duke’s about to go down!
AND … who picked Mercer!!!
Not etv78, who is our current leader and has Duke winning the championship. Enjoy that 99.8 percentile while it lasts!
Nice to see Duke go out early. Unfortunately… I had them in the Championship game in my bracket, so I’m probably screwed now.
I’m now 0-3 for the day, lost 2 Sweet 16 teams and 1 Elite Eight (LOBOS!), so pretty much how every NCAA Friday goes for me. See y’all in the cellar.
I’m in a 3-way tie for 21st place, just ahead of somebody that signed up but apparently did not make any picks. And I’ve lost two of my Elite 8 teams. Typical. But hey, I’m just here to make those of you who actually know something about basketball look good.
I’m having a bad day scoring wise but I didn’t have Duke going beyond the next game. I picked Kansas to beat E KY but it would be better for my bracket if they can pull off the upset. I had New Mexico beating KU in the next round.
Only 16 perfect brackets left in the Billion Dollar Challenge.
Well I’m happy, as the rest of my first round has no upsets predicted, results are good.
Upsets* picked correctly: Dayton, Harvard, Tennessee.
Upsets picked that missed NC State (but it did go to overtime)
Upsets not picked; Mercer, ND State(considered, but passed, overtime as well)
Although I do feel a bit pussy. My sweet 16 has only one 6 as lowest seed, and elite eight are all 4 or higher. Seldom happens that way for me.
*8-9 and 7-10 can’t be upsets to me.
K-State begins the game down 1-0, when UK gets two free throws before the opening tip for a technical foul called on a K-State walk-on for dunking during warm-ups. What kind of stupid rule is that?
Something like that made the news a couple of years ago, I think in a high school playoff game. The points from the technical foul ended up being the margin of victory IIRC,
Another #12 seed, Stephen F Austin, wins in overtime. And #1 seed Virginia is down by five at half? WTF?
