2015 College Football Omnibus Thread

Honestly, The Other USC probably shouldn’t be in the SEC at all (but then neither should Vandy).

I really do believe that after the next coach comes into South Carolina, we’ll realize just how amazing a job Steve Spurrier actually did.

I keep hearing that he was by far the most successful coach in school history. I think people (especially the fanbase) thought he would just turn the school into Florida in a year or two. But Florida has a huge athletic budget and recruits from probably the most football-fertile state in the nation (at least on a per capita basis). And of course Spurrier’s system was new and hard to defend against when he was there.

Why not? Academics?

Yep. He already is the winningest coach in school history (with 77 wins - no really) and has the best winning percentage of any USC coach who coached more than 20 games. He also led the team to its first SEC East Division Championship (they won the ACC once in 1969 prior to that), to the program’s first 11 win season (3 years in a row), and to the program’s first Top 10 poll finish.

I think most people don’t realize just how wretched South Carolina’s football program actually is (or was, I should say… but maybe it’ll be an is again).

For the two seasons spanning 1998-1999 they were 1-21. They managed to beat some cupcake to start the 1998 season before promptly losing every other game that year. Lou Holtz was hired and then lost EVERY game the following season. This team has been very bad at times over the years.

Because of the generally-terrible football programs, as the numbers you posted attest.

Hey, that’s the SEC’s fault for admitting them in 1992. They knew what they were getting into ;).

To be fair, there have been some pretty terrible football teams at UK, Bama, Ole Miss, Miss State, etc over the years. They just don’t have the consistency of USC in that regard… except UK.

Hire Sark. He’s looking for a job and has all kinds of shirts and hats that say “USC” on them.

Assuming Charlie survives at Texas and Fuente wants a bigger job… Might not be a bad idea to grab Sark after a few months of rehab. Seven wins ain’t looking too bad right now.

Fuente is definitely getting a bigger job if he wants it. Memphis over Ole Miss?! Wow.

What a shitty ridiculousness ejection. What is the fucking point of review?

Yeah I agree. Is that the “hit” the rule is designed to prevent? I love the kid doing a victory lap though to get to the locker room.

That was a disgrace. Poor kid couldn’t help but fall on the guy. Very bad call.

A righteous ejection in the Alabama game. Go Aggies!

This goal line stand in Michigan/MSU is crazy. Three plays and officials call TD. Three official reviews and overturned twice and finally the call stands. Sure looked like he didn’t get it though.

Hehe I went out to smoke after first down was signaled a TD , missed it all I guess.

ESPN trying to see how many UM kids will flip the bird at the camera. I count 3 in the 3rd quarter so far.

Hey! Those are Michigan Men you are slandering!
