Good call.
First possession of the Sonny Dykes era in Berkeley. (jump to 0:55) As it turns out, it was the high point of that season.
Thanks, RNATB!
So, in English, the explanation for ranking TCU higher is that TCU played a power 5 team ooc and won, and also because Baylor has had a bye week, and aren’t given credit for wins they don’t have yet. BU beat Tex Tech more decisively, but TCU beat them on the road, so that evens out.
Clemson 45 Miami 0 in the 3rd quarter. As an FSU alum, it’s embarrassing how far Miami has fallen.
Boise State is -34.5 against conference opponent Wyoming? That is a helluva line.
Nice last second Field Goal attempt from FSU.
Didn’t the Auburn/Alabama game from a couple years ago teach you anything?
GO RAMBLIN WRECK!!
I thought Jimbo Fisher made a huge mistake when he took in Everett Golson. And yeah, that last play was just terrible. Grats Georgia Tech.
OTOH, I’m having a blast watching Utah play like a bunch of fat high school kids and USC play like it’s the Super Bowl.
And the Wazzu juggernaut continues to roll.
Luke makes his predecessor look like a piker. 514yds/76% completion/5 TDs, those look like fair numbers. Or is the Wildcats D just crap?
That sideline reporter at the USC game is smokin’ hot!
I predicted that win, by the way. How about that kid making 3 INT and taking one back for six!?! Looking forward to going to the next home game against Arizona. Hope to see more of the same.
He’s been getting 400 yards or more almost every game. Nearly 500 against Rutgers, and over 500 against the Ducks. I wonder what he could do with the kind of O-line, receivers, and run threats who don’t want to spend four years in Pullman.
Al Golden out at Miami.

And George O’Leary is out at UCF, after building the program.
Al Golden, yeah they pretty much had to. Seems like a good guy and I think he tried to do it the right way but he just sucked.
Baylor’s QB Seth Russell out for the season, due to required neck surgery.
Back-up is true freshman, Jarrett Stidham. 24 of 28 , 85% completion, 6 TD’s, O Int’s
And they are just about to hit the meat of their schedule: OU, Ok State, and TCU.
Not looking good for the Bears.
That’s what they said about Ohio State last year.
That’s true, but Cardale Jones wasn’t a true freshman and Baylor doesn’t have the Buckeyes’ defense and run game.
I’m hoping for nobody to emerge undefeated from the Big 12. The way they backload their schedule for the top teams in that conference it looks like a real possibility. TCU still has WVU, Oklahoma, OkState and Baylor.
Dad went to Nebraska, Mom went to Northwestern. Dad used to kid Mom about the Midcats on the football field, although both knew Northwestern was academic first, football second. To put it politely, a little different than Nebraska.
Since joining the Big Ten, Northwestern is 2-1 vs Nebraska in Lincoln, that one loss being a miracle Hail Mary. Mom didn’t even gloat this time, there’s no point: My Huskers are now 3-5.
Now a losing season is quite possible (they finish with Top Ten Michigan State and Iowa). After firing a 9-4 coach for being a jerkass. So we need some positives:
[ul]
[li]The 5 losses were by a combined 13 points. All could’ve realistically gone the other way (BYU was a Hail Mary, for instance).[/li][li]It’s Mike Riley’s first year, give him a little time.[/li][/ul]
It’s not much, but we need something happy, as I highly doubt most social media Husker fans are going to get their wish: Fire Coach Mike Riley YESTERDAY.
Yeah, it’s a tough luck year for the Huskers, but you’ve still got the nicest fans in football. Hope they get back on their feet next year, and I’ll be grateful that their in the opposite division from my beloved Spartans.
The Thing Fish Ratings – week 8
Kind of a weird week, as only one of last week’s top 4 managed to generate a win. So naturally, the new top dog is…
- Iowa
- Stanford
- Ohio State
- Alabama – underrated by SEC-hating AP voters
- LSU
- Clemson
- TCU
- Baylor – catching up with TCU during bye week. Hope their QB recovers fully.
- Michigan State
- Memphis – they just keep rolling
- Oklahoma
- Northwestern – back on track!
- Utah – wheels coming off
- Pitt
- Florida State
- Oklahoma State
- Notre Dame
- Bowling Green
- UCLA
- Wisconsin
- Ole Miss
- Florida
- Toledo
- USC – going in and out of style. Smiles not guaranteed.
- North Carolina
welcome: Wisconsin, Ole Miss, USC, Toledo, UNC, Florida
so long: Cal, Georgia, Texas Tech, Michigan, Arizona State, Texas A & M
With 12 teams coming and going, many other teams are indirectly affected. This is why Iowa, on its bye week, pulled ahead of Alabama, which won. They both beat Wisconsin, but Bama lost two quality wins when Georgia and TAMU dropped out. Utah had a nightmare week, not only losing itself but seeing THREE of its prior victims dropping out (Cal, Michigan, ASU).
