2015 College Football Omnibus Thread

Release the Quacken! 61-55 3OT.

And some guy in the Arizona stands looks like he just heard that his dog ate his parents.

Glad that we won, glad I didn’t stay up until 2 am watching! Sounds like a barnburner.

So…if the Ducks win out, and Wazoo loses at least twice (Stanford, ASU, UCLA, Colorado, Washington), and Stanford loses at least one of Wazoo, Colorado, and Cal…we win the North!

Hey, it could happen. Right? Right?

It’s the last part of that 3-part scenario that’s tricky. Stanfurd will be prohibitive favorites in all 3. We’ll do our best, but no promises.

My Bears have both ASU and Oregon coming up. I’m not sure if I should be encouraged (both defenses suck) or encouraged (both offenses are unstoppable) by last night’s game.

I was briefly excited when I read that but apparently Nutt is not very discerning in that regard. He also has no ties to Florida, so recruiting would be a problem. UCF should be the next Power 5 expansion team (though I am not sure how widely held that view is in the rest of the country), but until that happens we have to recruit well in state.

Beyond that, if Nutt couldn’t do better than the Capital One Bowl at Arkansas and Ole Miss, I don’t think he’s going to accomplish much at UCF.

WTF? Ohio state QB J.T. Barrett arrested for drunk driving last night. He’s suspended. This isn’t the first time an OSU QB has been arrested for dui ,it happened in the early 2000s with Steve Bellisari. OSU QB roulette continues

Well, SC hung around with TAMU a lot longer than I thought they would and almost made a game it.

Yes, it’s back to Jones. Who is undefeated.

WTF? Brian Kelly meltdown? I was in a casino and had no audio, so I don’t know why he assaulted his assistant coach, but it didn’t look good on camera. Back up in the room now and ND just got an ejection and set up Temple to tie the game.

And what the hell, Minnesota? That call took balls, but you blew the game. And what was up with those uniforms?

Temple leads!

Miami beat Duke on final play kickoff return with 8 laterals. And a 9 minute review to rule that one of the blocks was legal .

Wazzu leads!

Block in the back isn’t a reviewable call. The touchdown shouldn’t count.

Temple loses. :frowning:

Yeah, no doubt. Since when the fucking when can you review a block in the back call? Will replay start calling holding and pass interference after the fact?

I need to get more drunk or go to sleep.

Go Cougs!
They have a defense?

Duke should be declared the winner of that game. Miami player was clearly down and Miami committed more than one blatant block in the back. I have a feeling those officials won’t be working next week.

They never change the winner of a game after the fact so you can forget that.

Also in the famous 1982 Cal-Stanford lateral play it also seemed that a player was down before a lateral.

The rulebook says that any “scoring play” is reviewable, and does not say what parts are reviewable and what parts are not (with one exception: a field goal where the ball passes above the top of the goal posts cannot be reviewed to see if the kick was wide).

The “NCAA Football Instant Replay Case Book” seems to contradict itself on this. In one place, it says, “We cannot review whether a foul took place in the field of play or the end zone, even though the penalty might result in a score”, but later, it says that an intentional grounding call that resulted in a safety is reviewable, at least to see if the pass thrower was in the end zone when it happened.

ACC suspends Miami-Duke officials for ‘series of errors’ on final TD.

Minnesota with the worst end of game strategy ever. They fully deserved to lose. I have to cut them some slack, they had a midweek coaching change.

What’s up with the trend of everybody wearing black? You have school colors, wear them. That’s getting to be about as tiresome as the pink breast cancer gear.

Indeed. The “Uniform Roulette” is becoming quite tedious. You should have a home jersey (color) and an away jersey (white). One pair of pants. Nothing Pink.
