2015 NFL Draft - On The Clock!

Just goes to show it takes one to [del]know[/del] draft one.

I heard that Gregory might have some anxiety issues, but now Werder is calling it a mental health issue. That makes a lot more sense if he’s bipolar or some other disorder, usually social anxiety doesn’t get lumped in with that type of stuff. Also would explain some of the bad decisions, assuming it’s not just PR spin.

Gonna be a tough road. Bet Brandon Marshall ends up connecting with him at some point.

Ah, crud, there goes the kid from Hobart. I was hoping he’d make it to the 49ers in the 3rd or 4th. Dude’s goooooood.

The fucking Packers took my guy Rollins, that blows. They went DB again, I think TT read this draft the same way I did…

Seattle drafts a beater of women. He’s pretty good on the football field, but here’s hoping he flames out faster than … something that burns out really fast.

What’s with all the lame music tie ins on both channels? Stop it.

So apparently the 3rd round is when we officially start announcing picks during commercial breaks. Gimme a break, stretching it to 3 days didn’t leave enough show time for the picks?

I had Rollins as a my guy in the third round. He’s damn impressive as an athlete, but he’s only played one year of football and is very, very raw. The Packers have had some good luck developing secondary players (Sam Shields and Casey Heyward), so I hope he’ll turn into something special, but he’s kinda a reach in the second. Nice upside though.

Heyward was one of my guys two years ago, I have a feeling that Rollins will be pretty much ready to go as a FS in just 1 year. Very few bad habits to unlearn. He’s too good a natural athlete. I tell ya, I hope I’m wrong.

Well, the Bears weren’t going to take another WR but it’s interesting to see Strong go right before their pick. nice get for the Texans, he’ll pair well with Hopkins.

Hope I’m wrong but it might be Odighizuwa here.

Oooo, glad to be wrong. Finally we grab a guy to replace Garza at C after I’ve been begging for it for 3 years. Don’t know Grasu that well, but I like the thought.

I am a bit surprised that TJ Clemmins from Pitt is still up there.

Again, a lot of people hat him a top 15 pick.

I know the mocks are never right, but when a kid goes from the first round projection to 3rd round, I have to wonder how much was smoke screen.

I have turned off ESPN for good. Every player is “the great choice for the team.” And “a steal at this point in the draft.” Or a “high ceiling… Could be the best position player in this year’s draft.”

Every guy is the same thing…

If the Steelers were so smart, and made, according to Kiper, thr “best pick in the second round, and maybe the entire draft” by taking Sanquez Golson, why wasn’t he on Mel’s mock draft? Or Gil Brandt’s top 140 players?

They just want fans of every team to stay listening, so they can feel good about the future. It’s just for ratings, it’s not real and it’s not truthful.

ETA: Steelers will score no lower than an A-/B+ grade for this draft… Just like every year. I don’t think it’s accurate.

Man, this is a terrible draft for the Giants. I hate all their picks. It’s like they are the dumping ground for every one of my worst case scenario picks.

The Saints grabbed a potential heir apparent for Brees, taking the third QB in Grayson. Heard a lot of talk about him and it’s a pick that make sense, I personally prefer Petty and wouldn’t mind the Bears taking a flier on him in the 4th or 5th. Also, it’s about time we draft a RB too.

The Browns have managed to go through two drafts extremely deep in WR and, despite WR being the biggest weakness on the team, has not come out with any, even though good prospects fell to them several times.

Ah, they moved up for a 3-4 DE after drafting a running back.

This team is going to be the run-and-play-defense-iest team of the modern era. Too bad the rules make that a bad idea. Maybe they’ll be countercyclical - if teams are remolding themselves to be finesse defenses, perhaps you can take advantage of it.

Not in the AFC North though.

I will say this, the Browns know exactly what they want to do, and who they are. They are completely gearing to build the team Pettine wants to build. And even if I think it’s probably an outdated way of doing things, I suppose it’s nice to have a clear identity and progress than aimlessness.

If Manziel can actually get his shit together and be decent, and Gordon comes back next year, this could actually work.

The NFL subreddit has pretty high praise for the Browns draft. But to some extent some of that is from the ego-stroking I know football stuff I talked about previously. I’m not sure how anyone else feels about it yet.

I think a lot of the praise you real on-line are hopeful fans that know nothing about these kids except what they hear for a few minutes after the name is called.

Very few players get truly hammered. And I have no problem with that. But I know nothing about most of these guys after the top 25 (aside from their name, position, and a general idea of what they can do), so the only ones I do any research on tend to be after the Steelers draft some guy.

Golston is a perfect example. The talking heads love the kid, and yes he has some skils. He can catch a ball better than many WRs in this draft, and that is great for a DB. When many of them have stone hands, this is a great skill to have.

However, he’s very small. 5’9". That is small for a CB in today’s NFL. He will never be a guy that can be a shut down corner, and if he gets any playing time, I can see him getting picked on relntlessly in the red zone. Just get a tall WR against him and throw a jump ball. This kid isn’t getting to those passes, unless he has vertical leaping ability that is beyond anything I’ve ever seen before.

But since Kiper and a few other guys praised the pick, mthe Steelers are back! Colbert and Tomlin know what they are doing, etc. The fanboys cannot imagine (and refuse to believe) the pick was a bad ine. This is baseball’s spring training in many ways. All players are great, all will be starters, and a few will be HOF worthy. The truth, howver, is never like this… Most players never do much of anything to make a mark on any team, and if you get a few guys that will start on your team for 5+ years and play well, you’ve done well.

Steeler fans are still waiting for the 1974 draft again.

They also took a slot reciver (I guess) in the 3rd round, which is a joke. They have so many glaring needs that they can’t afford a luxury pick on a position thst is the only position with any depth on the team.

I don’t think the Steelers have had a good draft at this point. And I doubt I will know much about any of the guys drafted today, so we’ll see in camp. But Colbert/Tomlin drafts have been historically awful, which is why the Steelers are completely void of depth at almost every position, and have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL from last year with no real additions going into today’s picks.

Not good. Dick LeBeau got out just in time.

FWIW, I like most of the actual players the Browns picked, if not the collection as a whole. I know they were the worst defense vs the run, but three DL when they have plenty of needs everywhere may have been a stretch.

Orchard isn’t DL, he’s going to be an OLB/edge rusher.

Yeah, should’ve said “front 7.”

The Bears followed my advice and grabbed a RB in the fourth once Petty was no longer on the board. Watched a fair bit of Langford in the Big Ten and he never really popped off the screen. Seems like a well rounded guy who can catch and block, but probably won’t ever be a workhorse or explosive guy. He sounds like a poor mans Forte honestly. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the 3rd down back with Carey or a future rookie taking the 1st and 2nd down snaps after Forte is gone next year. I’ll say this, I really wish we’d get some speed at the position at some point.
