I’m nearly in the opposite situation in the SDMB Bracketeers pool. I’m still lingering near the bottom, but I have the highest PPR of anyone. All my Final Four teams are alive.
Don’t think I’ve ever been alone in 1st going into the Sweet 16 before. 27/32 in the 1st round was a personal record to for my annual ESPN bracket. 93%tile is still only good for 1.4M place though! I’m sure picking against my Badgers will haunt me in the end though, as I had Villanova as the champ.
22/32 for the first round and 9/16 correct in the sweet 16 (3 of my final 4 are still in)
Tied for 54th place at work.
Brian
Tyler Dorsey with 27 points on 90% shooting last night, only the third guy to do that in the tournament in the last 25 years. The other two were Blake Griffin in a 28 point win over Morgan State in 2009 (28 pts, .917), and, perhaps more memorably, Christian Laettner in the 1992 final 31 pts, 1.000).
So I’m in second place, and the first and third place players had Villanova winning it all.
The fourth through sixth place players all have Gonzaga, who I thought Northwestern was going to beat.
I have 11 of the Sweet 16 right, which I thought was pretty good until I noticed you could have gone 12-4 just by picking all the top four seeds.
The only hope I have to crawl out of the basement is for UCLA and Gonzaga to meet in the title game. If so, and if Gonzaga wins, I might finish somewhere in the middle of the pack. Best I can hope for.
I did find it interesting that out of the nine ACC teams to make the tourney, eight did not make it past the first weekend. Has there *ever *been such a total conference flop?
Great two games to start off the Sweet 16. Let’s hope they keep it up.
#11 Xavier knocks off #2 Arizona? Wha??!?
go cincinnati! Go uk!
Kansas has won by 38, 20 and 32 - how much do they beat Oregon by?
Arizona is the first one of my Final Four teams to get eliminated. What a bunch of idiots!
One thing you can count on: the 'Cats will choke in the Sweet Sixteen. This has been going on since the Lute Olson era. I say this as a long-time Wildcats fan.
Can someone explain the end of the Gonzaga - WVa game to me? WVa was down three, seconds left, and it looked like the dude was just dribbling around in circles, not even trying to get a shot off. My wife thought maybe he didn’t know how much time was left on the clock, but jeez, how could you not?
He couldn’t find a shot or an open man. Now, if someone could explain the previous 3 minutes…
It looks like there are a lot of empty seats for the Carolina-Butler game, I wonder why?
Never mind, now I know why.
Baylor is gone. I’m screwed.
D’Arin Fox, a men amongst boys…on to UNC!
GO XAVIER! Come back and win this thing!
And no.
