2021 Secret Santa Christmas Exchange

Filbert! I received your package yesterday! Gah, such crazy transit times these days. I love everything! I don’t know what I did to deserve such a wonderful Secret Santa TWICE (last in … 2017? 2018?), but I am one lucky Doper.

First of all, your cards are the best. I love having something meaty to read, and you deliver 100%. The penguin card, and your related comments … hilarious.

The chocolates were amazing. Well, my husband stole and is now refusing to share the orange. But the truffles were all amazing, and the bar is my favorite.

Saving the best for last … the hat and scarf! That you crocheted yourself! I love, love, LOVE them. I was trying to figure out how to show the rest of the thread a photo, so I could show off your work for you, but I am inept. They’ll have to take my word for it that they’re gorgeous, and I love the gold threads, and I love the colors, and if you hadn’t mentioned that it’s an early attempt of yours, I would never have known. I don’t see any dropped stitches at all! Seriously, I tried to take up knitting early in the pandemic, and even bought very expensive cashmere yarn to make my daughter a scarflet … total failure. This stuff is hard to learn, and I think you’ve done a fabulous job.

Sorry you had to worry about your gift’s journey, but it has arrived, and I’m so happy with everything. Thank you again!

Oops, I should have replied directly to you, so you might get an alert. Cheers!

Wonderful news, I’m so happy your package arrived. Shipping has been so “interesting” anymore and shipping internationally is even more “fun”.

@freckafree I lied. It did make it home. It made it until January 4th.

SOOOOOOO good. I have started following the company on Facebook. I will probably order more when I am in the states, as they probably don’t ship internationally, but I will ask.

Thanks again.

It made it!

I’d about given up hope- I was assuming the customs guys had pinched the chocolate and were too embarrassed to send the rest on.

Incidentally, I’ve never got the hang of knitting either, I never managed anything bigger than a doll scarf before quitting in frustration; but crochet seems far easier for me, for some reason.

Now that you mention it, maybe the chocolate bar was missing a square or two!

I’ll give crocheting a try next. At the moment I’m trying to master macrame, which is much more challenging than I thought it would be!

Today I received a very battered box in the mail. The poor thing looked like it had been through a war, but it was still intact.

Inside was not only my second Christmas, it was my first ever Chanukah! @RivkahChaya made up 8 bags of traditional Chanukah treats and gifts including lots of delicious geld. The first bag included my first dreidel I have ever seen irl, which was pretty cool. The last bag had a beautiful Russian nesting dolls which looked very much like the one I used to play with at my grandmother’s house.

Thank you so much @RivkahChaya, I enjoyed it very much!

Just wanted to share a picture of the mittens and scarf, with my own jacket (lighting is a bit weird, but the sun’s refusing to make an appearance). Took the scarf out for a spin yesterday and it really worked a treat. Today the mittens are going out as well, as I will need my hands to stay warm.
