New Cafe thread: Life imitates art (“24” season 2 spoiler)
Well, I guess 15 weeks is a pretty good record for keeping folks from starting spoiler threads outside the weekly one we provide!
One of the few times during the film I stopped howling with laughter was during that shot, when instead I sat quietly agape. Thanks cocksucker indeed.
Elisha Cuthbert’s character was an homage (appropriately adjusted for zeitgeist to be more empowered and in control) to Sarah Holcomb’s in Animal House. What ever happened to her? She had a four year movie career that included Clorette DePasto in Animal House and Maggie O’Hooligan in Caddyshack, then she disappeared off the face of IMDB. After such strong, poignant sex scenes with both Tom Hulce AND Michael O’Keefe, her career was poised to really hit its stride, but instead there’s nothing from her after Animal House. I smell foul play afoot. This conspiracy must be unmasked! Free Sarah Holcomb!
I googled a bit, and rumor has it she abandoned her career suffering from addiction to drugs and alcohol. What a fucking shame. Or is that just what they want me to think?
You aren’t being paranoid when people really are out to get you.
I don’t have cable, so I’m wondering, is fX showing continuous coverage of the war? I ask because, just in case network TV is still being commandeered by the news by Tuesday, I’m going to ask someone to record it for me when it airs on fX. Dammit, I’ve gone 2 or 3 weeks without seeing it, I don’t want to miss it when it’s back! It’s the only thing I cannot miss on TV!
Having seen the movie now, I can say with the proper reverence that you, sir, are very, very correct.
Oh, momma.
In other news, thanks for the heart attack, dude. The last thing a guy who leads the kind of life I’ve led needs to get is unexpected mail from a law firm.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tell it to the judge.
While my franking privileges may or may not be “legitimate” or “authorized” or “ethical,” I figure that the amount of life this place has sucked out of me certainly justifies a few pre-paid return envelopes. And school supplies.
Give me a head’s up when the package is on it’s way, so I can remember to actually check my mailbox in the deep, dark netherworld of the mailroom.
Just another heads up…
If any of you go to the TelevisionWithoutPity website, there have been some fan-purchased banner ads recently that have some pretty specific spoilers in them.
Avert your eyes!
Muchas gracias, BiblioCat!
Was wandering through Best Buy yesterday, and saw this:
24: The House Special Subcommittee’s Findings at CTU
It’s a background information book about 24 (obviously). Looks like there’s an unofficial guide, cryptically called 24: The Unofficial Guide.
Possible spoilers in the article linked in this new related thread:
Kim, I love you because you’re Stupid
Thanks to Enright3 for not putting spoilers in the OP, though.
The May issue of MAD Magazine has a 24 parody called 24 Viewers. It would contain spoilers if you haven’t seen any of this season yet (so KneadToKnow would want to steer clear for now), but only the first few episodes (it discusses very basic background of the season 2 plot). It’s more of a take-off on the basic premise of the show and people’s complaints about the characters (Jack is mean, Kim is dumb) rather than a lot of specific plot elements.
Another possible spoiler thread, probably dealing with the same article linked in the above thread:
Kim on “24” - Funny Wash Post article
Thanks for the heads up on MAD, Elwood. I may pick it up (though of course, being careful not to open it) for perusal next month.
Knead: it’s the one with AEN as SpongeBob on the cover.
Ah…so this is what this thread looks like! Hi guys and gals!
Just wanted to warn you, if anyone reads Toyfare magazine, there is a Twisted Toyfare Mego Theatre take off of 24 this month which, while hilarious, is ripe with spoilers.
Can’t remember the month, but has a 24 blurb on the cover.
Thanks, Max!

Possible spoiler in Logic problems in “Major League” of all places.
Two more weeks?
Yep. According to Yahoo! TV, “7:00 -8:00AM” airs on Tuesday, May 20.
Alas, May 30 is the soonest I can schedule the marathon at my house.
Okay, one hour left. Next Tuesday is IT. I can’t freaking wait!
Gather up all your tapes, strap yourself in, be sure to keep your Suspension Of Disbelief firmly in place and have fun.
Just one word of advice. As you watch the beginning of each hour, with the credits and guest stars, try not to read the guest stars. Certain people pop in and out through out the day, and it kinda ruins the surprise if you read their name in the opening credits and realize, “Oh, I guess So-and-So’s going to be back this hour.”
I actually had to hold my hand up to block it out, and didn’t start doing that till about halfway through the series. It’s much better if you don’t know who’s going to show up each hour.
Sorta adds to the “Holy Cow!!” factor.
And one tidbit to keep you guessing… not really a spoiler, just a little tidbit about the first hour… but I’ll spoilerize it for the truly virginal…
For the first hour … you’re gonna need a hacksaw.

I’m hoping that if I can work past a four hour bout of amnesia, I can take anything.
