OK. I get it. And the REAL baddies turn out to be a Franco-Russo-German alliance. So much for my PC theory of 24!
:smack: Thanks for the explanation; that totally didn’t occur to me.
And I just want everybody on the board to be aware that if Kate DOES turn out to be evil, then I called it first. Consult last week’s thread. If she turns out not to be evil, then I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Damn submit button… I also meant to add the pointless aside: I hope that next season, Jack gets to take a break. So the whole show is him spending one of my typical days off. An entire episode of him reading internet message boards, another just sitting back reading a book, one episode where he starts to go the store to get some cigarettes but decides not to at the last minute, one where he spends an hour looking for pictures of his daughter online…
Can anyone describe to me how to download episodes of 24 from BitTorrent? Perhaps by email? (My friend missed last week’s episode, and now it’s too late to catch it on FX…)
thanks
Re: the voice software- http://fox.com/24/research.html says that there is something like that on the market- AT&T’s “Natural Voices.”
I don’t like Kingsley & Co. They remind me of the cheesier parts of the X-Files.
I suppose Palmer sabotaging the Turkish phone call would in one way made him look like a sore loser (out of character) but then again, it would’ve been for the good of the world, and he would’ve been right. I think he should’ve tipped the Turkish prez.
Kingsley killing Big Boobs- can’t have witnesses. No matter how cute.
Kim was great. She looked like a psycho. “I’ve tasted blood and I want more.” (Kim as Janet Weiss- Ooooohh…) I think she’s gonna be a hell of a character from now on. Older, wiser, and not putting up with any more shit. What I want to see is a baddie (preferably Nina) try to take out Jack, only to be taken out by New Badass Kim- who will shoot again.
I don’t think Kate is a baddie, and I didn’t really see any hints of it. I interpreted it to be the tension and mistrust and paranoia and suspicion, combined with the newfound power to back it up, that Kim is feeling.
Jack’s out, huh? A good twist may be that he’s out for good, and the Scoobies have to piece together what’s going on, what needs to get done, and how to do it. This leaves the door open for Jack to save the day at the final showdown (which I think would be a cop-out).
Tony and Michelle in the same room- I thought that was a bit odd, too, but Chapelle and the gang seemed to have a mindset of “Screw 'em, we got shit to do.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Haysbert is great.
That was weird as the helicopter left, watching Jack completely helpless. It’s not often we see him without any power whatsoever, left to beg on a cellphone for help. That and the heart problems, he might become human soon!
Or… maybe Jack and Sherry will meet up with John Connor (who was in T2 with Mason, so it might happen!) and Arnold driving a Mack truck with regenerating tires, when along comes Hilary Swank in the Space Shuttle from The Core. They’ll all shoot each other many, many times and none will die. And hopefully they’ll divert to Dodger Stadium and blow it up somehow. Or maybe not.
Bring on the finale!
cc: me too, please?
My wife and I have been discussing for a couple of weeks that the Vice President is at the top of the conspiracy. There has been just a little too much back-channel federal chicanery for someone very high up not to be involved.
I like Sam Stone’s episode for next week. I’d watch it. I’d be especially satisfied to see Sherry die and the former vice-president eat shit. But can’t we work in a Jack/Kate/Sherry threesome before Kingsley kills her?

Guys, you’re gonna get a 24 thread shut down for the first time with all this file-sharing crap.
Err…sorry I didn’t realize that you couldn’t post that, I can’t edit my posts, so can a mod please edit my last post if it’s against the rules.
helllloooo— don’t you all recognize the “large-breasted assistant” as the bad-ass chick who bombed the 747 in the first season? (first episode even?)
Some have pointed out a connection to the Drazens, but not mentioned HER as the connection (I think that she is). Maybe you guys subconciously knew it was the gal from Year 1 but couldn’t quite remember.
BTW, Kate good.
I thought it looked like her too (see first page), but on further inspection, that wasn’t the 747 bomber.
According to the Fox site, the bomber was named “Mandy”. They identify the assistant as being “Eve”. Mandy didn’t appear after the 2-3am episode in season one (though she wasn’t killed off), which would seem to indicate that she was more connected to Gaines than the Drazen family anyhow.
Actress-wise, Mandy was played by Mia Kirshner. Eve was played by Nina Landey.
:smack:
And Eve the Big Boobed Assistant must’ve been up to something when she was gettin’ close with Kingsley- she is, in fact, a lesbian! (More pix there, BTW)
And here’s Mandy the bomber chick from Season One, also from Not Another Teen Movie.
or maybe bi— plus the woman on the 747 screwed a dude in the bathroom so she must not be TOO lesbian.
Anyway, all my wishing in the world won’t make them the same person, but damn it-- they sure looked the same, and it could have tied some things together if they were.
To make things even more confusing, the link for Nina Landey says she played “Eve” in episode 2.23, but also a character named “Amanda” in episode 1.15, which is a different character than “Mandy” from episodes 1.1 and .2.
And you thought the blondes were hard to keep up with this year.
Getting back to the show discussion…
Given the nearly constant number of setbacks for Bauer & Co., does anyone think they’re supposed to fail? The Hot Woman put it succinctly; once the sound tech was dead, all the loose ends were tied up. Jack has no witness, no recording, only a limited amount of knowledge about the software used to fake the recording, and the not-too-trustworthy Sherry Palmer left as a witness. Oh, and that matter of Jack’s near-fatal heart attack and car accident. Methinks it’ll take a spectacular deus ex machina to wrap this all up in one hour.
I think what will happen is: The war will start, Bauer will wind up in a hospital somewhere, and Kim & Kate will get kidnapped (again) on the way to CTU and taken to someplace offshore. There’s your season-ender. Or am I alone on this?
I’m surprised nobody saw this:
Right before the start of the season, Sutherland was on “The Daily Show”, and he all but said this was his last season on 24.
He wasn’t 100% certain, but he comment something like, “How many bad days can one guy have?”
Look for another main character next year.
Av8mike,
It better not end like that or I, and many other people, will be very upset.
Although they can easily get away with not closing all the ends because after all, this isn’t “the story of the bomb and it’s after effects”, it’s “the story of one day in which all this stuff happens”.
I think Kiefer is coming back:

http://anythingbut.com/archive/cat_television.html:
But y’know, I think I do remember that Daily Show appearance, and the quote you mentioned. Perhaps Kiefer assumed that since 24’s ratings weren’t as good as everyone had hoped, he’d be out of work after this season, if not sooner.
As an aside, do you think it’s safe to say that Kiefer Sutherland has “pulled a Travolta”?
