24: Season 5: Episode 9 (3:00pm - 4:00pm)

Read the Sticky folks!

Oops. :smack:

He could have killed the helicopter, but he merely disabled it with a carefully placed bullet in the “make black smoke come out of it thingy”.

As for Audry, she needs to be put on double-secret penetration…

Shouldn’t that be in a spoiler?

So, what does a keycard do for you? Does it give you a discount in the CTU cafeteria, let you into the executive washroom, or give you access to the super duper top secret copy of the Presiden’t football so you can launch a nuclear strike on Liechtenstein?

And while I’m still ranting: where were the LA police while this gun battle was going on? For Pete’s sake, there was gunfire from rooftops, gunfire from helicopters and we never even heard a siren.

And where was the motorcycle cop accompaniment to Mr. Russian President’s motorcade? Isn’t that pretty much SOP?

Don’t tell me all the LA cops are standing around Palmer’s brother’s apartment trying to figure out what happened this morning?

Samwise can see everything people are doing online now, how he has time to do that is beyond me, but he can see what Chloe is doing/has done now. Just don’t close a window! Why did you close that window!

Yea, shooting down a helicopter with a pistol as people are firing a machine gun at you. I loved that.

What I’d really like to see (although it’s too wild for 24) would be for President Weepy-waily to be replaced by the Autopilot from Airplane! so we wouldn’t have to wonder if he had a brain. Then his contributions to the welfare of the USA, not to mention our concerns over how he ever got into office, would stop worrying us.

McPresident

No, everyone loves the Autopilot. That would totally be inappropriate for a authority figure in the 24-iverse.

It also gets you a discount in the CTU gift store. Red shirts, 2 for 1 (they have a lot of those in stock for some reason).

I’m just glad to see Jack shoot SOMETHING in the thigh, even if it was a helicopter.

But they are second hand, with stains and holes.

Anyone else thinking that Sis’s boyfriend is a little more than a druggie?

As for the other mole in the government, my money is on Mike Novick. He’s been acting strange all season.

Mike’s always bugged me, more than a little. But I suspect they’re counting on us thinking that way. I’m still thinking the gal that was “helping” FLOTUS may be back to see us.

Remember last season we had Audrey pegged as a mole, too. Don’t give up on her.

As for the boyfriend/druggie I definitely see him pissing in the soup. Samwise’s at the very least.

What I don’t get is why Samwise didn’t just fess up and tell Jack “Hey, don’t bother coming in, do your badass shit, but first, go get my keycard, and give my sis’s boyfriend all sorts of what for.”

That’s maybe 5 minutes out of Jack’s way.

So did anyone ever explain how Samwise got back in the building without his keycard? Hell, I need my keycard three times just to get to my cube.

Hehe, President Logan telling someone to take responsiblity.

Reinstating Jack and letting Palmer do his thing, at least for a little while, last season, are the only ones that come to mind.

This component of the plot made no sense whatsoever. Lynn sez “bring Jack in”. Jack gets a phone call with a lead on the nerve gas. In a normal, non-dysfunctional agency, Jack would call Lynn and say “I’ve got a lead. Can you give me some backup so I don’t have to face guys with automatic weapons and a helicopter with just my insanely accurate handgun?” And Lynn would say, “I am pissed at you, but you have a lead, so go follow it, and I’ll yell at you later.”

But in the 24 Universe, they immediately go into “let’s keep secrets from the Boss” mode (and also “let’s cold-cock our best ally in the department” mode).

Did Jack even * consider * telling Curtis the truth?

Let’s face it, Jack is basically an idiot.

The subplot with the terrorists calling the President to get the route? In real life, they’d get a false route, a decoy caravan, and 10,000 secret service agents lining the streets with binoculars.
Of course, the bad guys are almost as dysfunctional as CTU. Not only are they in full “shoot yourself in the head if cornered” mode, but I was pleased to see the time honored cliche where the boss ruthlessly eliminates underlings who make an honest mistake. Really, CTU doesn’t have to do much except arrange for the head bad guy to get too much expresso and he’ll wipe out his own team.

The LAPD is still setting up a perimeter around the machine shop from the last episode.

Speaking of which, Badger got from there to his hideout(in time to be stabbed) pretty damn fast. They must have been right around the corner.

You done broke the code!
