24: Season 8: Episode 18 (9:00am - 10:00am)

He is going to go to the Russian embassy and just start kicking ass until he gets the answers he wants.

The whole idea of going through with a peace treaty with a country that just orchestrated the assassination of one of the other signatories AND threatened to blow up the mother of all RDDs on your territory is preposterous even for 24. President Taylor doesn’t seem that stupid.

Props to Ethan however for his Bauer-esque recovery from his heart attack or whatever that was. From the brink of death to back to work in less than two hours.

Not just that but surely some urchins or Boy Scouts will have found those hastily “submerged” stiffs in that pond by now. Dana has had a busy day, I’d say. What’s her body count anyway?

I’d say straight to the end of the series.

I mean, with 5 or so more hours to go, FOX needs Jack out in the open with CTU against him.

If Jack is going to die ““Today”” it will need to be Epic.

I don’t know what’s more Epic than Helicopters, Russia, and CTU against you.

Seems like they are just turning it up to get to a good conclusion, even if the sensibility of it fails.

On the Dead guys in the Lake, on the Staple guy :

They are old enough to take care of themselves. Who is going to know to go look for them at 10 in the morning?

I understand the question but I think that another 24 hours would have to pass before people Know to go look in a lake. Not that the bodies would show up.

Same for Staple Guy. He was strangled right? What is going to leak? Isn’t he just taking essentially a really long nap?

I’m not sure the body can decompose that fast.

Yep, it takes a day or more for bodies to get ripe, depending on temperature and other such aspects. In a nicely air-conditioned room? It’ll certainly take longer than the hours left.

OTOH, a body’s sphincters relax at death, so depending how recently you’ve, ah, emptied the reservoirs, you might have to deal with ‘leakage’ almost immediately or not at all.

OT3H, if Dana was lucky/smart, she shoved the body into an air “return”, and the air conditioning system either totally vents ‘used’ air to the outside or uses really good filtering.

You’d expect a high security highly sensitive facility to have both totally venting AND massive filtering on the intakes to keep Bad Guys from easily gassing your people – but this is CTU so they’re probably sucking in fumes from the garage.

I’m typing as I watch.

Is Renee’s death going to destroy Jack and Chloe’s friendship? I can see Jack forgiving her for not letting him investigate, but I don’t think Chloe would forgive him if he screwed this shit up.

The presidential story line was great this year but it’s finally starting to get a bit boring.

I still say Logan looks younger this year.

He has the creepiest bluish gray eyes ever.

Jack can make any threat sound believable.

That Russian dude in the court room has to be the most likable 24 villain ever.

BAUER!!!

If Jack wanted her dead, she’d be dead!

This might be the first stupid thing Ms. President does.

Chloe has her concerned face on.

And, upon hearing of the President’s arrival, her surprised face.

The President is now in CTU, the most unsafe place in the world!

Was the President just flirting with Chloe?

Aww Chloe had a tear in her eye.

Wow, not a bad episode at all. Definitely pumped to go to work now.

I’m guessing Cole is going to do the interrogating while Jack does the field work.

I hate how they pitted Chloe and Jack against each other though.

Just off the top of my head (I learned it in high school 56 years ago):

There is a tide in the affairs of man
Which taken at the flood
Leads on to fortune.
Omitted, all the voyage of life
Is bound in shallows and misery.

I liked that, it ups the ante, the show has nenver been afraid to violate the “sacred cows” of standard television drama. I like this season much more than many of the recent seasons.

Well, it will make for some interesting T.V. and it’s a real situation people face but I guess I’m just heavily invested in their friendship. Both of them are socially inept. Chloe is just clueless, while Jack always has something of higher importance (Saving The World) so they’ve have no one but themselves. It would just make me feel bad if they were to breakup their friendship over it. Sure, Jack has his daughter and granddaughter and Chloe has a husband and kid as well but it just isn’t the same thing.

It doesn’t help that 24 always does exactly what I don’t want them to do. The most recent example was killing Renee. :frowning:

My point was that Cole didn’t want to stop him. I got the impression that Cole was happy to see Jack roughing her up.

Perhaps he’s been studying Tony Almeida’s case file. Shot in the neck early season 3, in and out of surgery and back to work in just a few hours, himself.

Well, if we’re talking direct kills, she doesn’t actually get credit for the two stiffs in the pond. Scruffy-Doo stabbed Kevin, and then Cole shot Scruffy. But Dana did kill Mr. Parole Guy, as well as several CTU guards as she tried to escape the premises.

IIRC, only the first three lines.

And you must be one of the oldest and wisest of all Dopers!
