Great choices, Pai325! I am reading *Gulp *now – Grrlbrarian, don’t eat and read it at the same time. Just sayin’.
I loved *To Say Nothing of the Dog *and have added the Collins book to my must-get list.

I’m home, and the first thing I went for in my pile of mail was the book-sized Manila envelope.
Inside I found Boris Starling’s Espionage
Thank you, Sir T-Cups! England and espionage - I can’t wait to start!
Awesome! It came!
I hope you love it, I certainly did. It’s my second favorite in his whole library.
As for my book, I looked yesterday and nothing was there, and I was going to look today but my mail hut is a walk/drive away and it’s pouring outside, so I’ll wait until tomorrow
I got my book!!
The first Harry Hole novel “The Bat” from Jo Nesbo which is EXACTLY what I wanted!
Move over Michael Crichton pirate novel…there’s a new animal in town!!!
Thank you thank you thank you!
You’re Welcome! And remember that’s Hoo-leh!
I started it today, it’s easy to read and the style is pretty laid back.
Just what I like in my women
BOOK! I mean book!
yeah…
book…
And not a word about the packaging… must not be a metalhead
Like a child on christmas I didn’t even notice the packaging until you mentioned something.
But now that I see it…
This. Is. Spinal. Tape!
Did you get that at the post office? That’s fantastic
YAY!
No, it was a birthday gift from a friend. i suspect she bought it from Amazon, pretty pricey but dang it’s fun to use!
Hi jayrey! Your books took a while to reach me, but they finally did!
THANKS a lot! They look awesome and I can’t wait to read them. Especially the one about Custer.
Thank you thank you thank you! ^.^ {{big hug}}
I hope you get yours soon. And I hope you will find it interesting
All the best!
Sir T-Cups, dude, I apologize if you had the same disappointment with The Bat that I did. Apparently the general consensus on Goodreads and the “Whacha Readin” thread here is that Jo Nesbo needed a long run up and his stuff only gets really good after the third book. Well bright side is we have something to look forward to.
So I was in the midst of reading Chrichton’s “Pirate Latitudes” and just finished it on Friday, so I actually just brought The Bat to work today and will start it at lunch today.
However I’ll keep that in mind when I’m going through it and see the next book(s) and see how it goes
He is REALLY good at characterizations, I quite enjoyed several of the people in the book.
Oh, I’m so glad they finally arrived. The Custer book is excellent, one of my personal favorites. Ignore the schlocky cover – it was made to promote the TV movie. It makes the book look lightweight but it is actually very well researched and written. Custer was a complex character living in a complex time in US history.
What bok is this, Jayrey? I might be interested in it myself.
Hi, DZNC. The book is Son of the Morningstar by Evan S. Connell. It’s a biography of General George Custer’s personal life and military career, all leading up to the battle at the Little Big Horn. Fascinating reading about a very complex man. I highly recommend it!
I’ll have to look at it. I can’t say I like or approve of Custer, he got what he deserved at Little BigHorn, but it would bring some balance to my thinking.
JoseB, you are awesome!! I love my new book. I’ve never heard of it and it looks great. For those of you playing at home, I am now the happy owner of “The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher or The Murder at Road Hill House,” by Kate Summerscale. A Victorian-era who-done-it based on a true event. Oooh, I can hardly wait. I’m halfway through a library book which I have promised myself I will finish before starting on my new treasure.
Thanks, JoseB. You da bomb. And the enclosed card was very sweet and thoughtful of you.
I am glad you finally received it! I hope you will like it. It also gives a very nice glimpse on Victorian society, its rules and expectations.
Plus it is well written and well researched.
Enjoy!! ^.^
