In general I really enjoyed it, but I don’t think the “Jenna is fat” storyline is working. “Me want food” isn’t very funny to begin with, and beyond that it seems a little too obviously intended to be a catchphrase. NBC is even already selling “Me Want Food” t-shirts, fercryinoutloud.
None of Jenna’s storylines are funny. Tracy has grown on me to the point where I don’t cringe when he is onscreen. The one’s who make this show are Liz, Jack, and Kenneth, especially Baldwin. They cover up all the other flaws.
You’re not kidding about Baldwin. I never knew he had such impeccable comedic timing. He delivers every line perfectly.
Baldwin is on 30 Rock?! Why have I never noticed him?
I thought the Jenna is Fat storyline is funny in Tina Fey’s reaction to it. I think it is intended to be an obvious stupid catchphrase. NBC seems to be marketing everything this year. Last week it was the rabies wrist bands.
It was a fun episode, but it seemed to end short. I can never get enough of Will Arnett.
I want to take this thread to find something out. Did I miss an episode? What happened to the woman who had fragile bones?
pat
Jack called off his engagement to Phoebe after he had his heart attack. As I remember it, he was hooked up to a heart monitor in the hospital, and it kind of acted as a lie detector. When someone, probably Liz, asked him if he really loved Pheobe, the monitor convinced him that he really didn’t, and he broke it off.
blerg
You misspelled “blërg”.
You mean blërg.
“A woman’s not allowed to look like a real woman anymore. It’s like those Dove commercials never even happened!”
Will Arnett wrestling… now that was funny.
And the scientology… err sorry what was that religion that made teh gay flow out of him?
“I’m a real good sex person. I do it *all * the different ways.”
The Church of Practicology, I believe.
created by Stan Lee.
Excelsior!
No, crreated by the alien entity inside Stan Lee
I heard it as the Church of Proctology, but that makes more sense.
I loved Tracy’s vanity plate using every substitution letter possible:
ICU81MI
Kenneth: “I see you ate one. Am I?”
That’s…that’s just inscrutable.
Liked this one a lot better, and I’ve seen Jane (and Alec!) onstage a few times and love their work here. However, it’s Tina I really identify with, and that scares and humbles me.
Will Arnett too! In tight shorts! Does TV get more perfect?!
Apart from the obvious character connection…is 30 Rock the sorta-semi-second-coming of Arrested Development? Or am I just yearning for the old days?
