4 schizo rants.

What I don’t get about YouTube videos is the high percentage of them that just peter out slowly. Haven’t these kids spent any time at all watching something other than music videos? Almost every other form of entertainment has an arc…builds to a crescendo, a climax, a punchline, a conclusion. A snappy, emphatic denouement not only makes your video much more enjoyable for the poor bastards you’ve tricked into downloading it, it’s also usually the entire point to having made the work of art in the first place.

But NOOOOO, these kids just let the vid run on for twenty seconds after the action has petered out like they forgot the camera was running, or maybe they get unlimited free bandwidth and, since their ass itched at that exact moment, were better off just hitting the upload button and scratching away rather than editing.

Sailboat

Either that or he’s gonna catch a heart attack.

  • I think you mean “drivel” but this is a lovely (and apt) blending of “drivel” and “trivial.”

Naahhhh…

I am currently wearing jeans and dressy shoes (office shoes). Hope that helps you continue your freak out, perhaps it has something do with what a waiter gave you.

I don’t like jeans with dress shoes insofar as I wouldn’t wear them, beyond that I really couldn’t care what people do.

What does baffle me though is jeans with fuck-me pumps. That I don’t get at all.

Are you dissing the fine, upstanding ecologically conscious women who are so concerned about the number of cotton plants sacrificed for clothes that they nobly wear the barest minimum of clothes? Oh, that all women were so noble!

Are you serious? I know for a fact that you DO NOT want to see my ample, middle aged ass cheeks hanging out the bottom of a mini skirt. I may be noble, but I’m not stupid.

I have seen what you’re talking about on You Tube…the out of sync music videos. It’s disconcerting but I can ignore it mostly.

And you’re telling me that now that I have a MySpace page, MySpace is passe? Damn, day late and a dollar short again.

Personally, I don’t think you should wear sneakers for anything that doesn’t involve exercise. I think they look stupid with jeans, I’m much rather see a pair of loafers or some other actual shoe with jeans.

The Wonder Years is the greatest TV show of all time? Who knew.

Personally, I loved the rant.

First, black leather shoes (not tux shoes) are timeless, as are dark jeans. They are perfectly fine worn together. This look should be described as “cool.” Those who disagree wouldn’t know cool if it was pile driven on their lame asses by a triple tag-team of Billy Bob Thornton, Johnny Cash, and the Fonz.

Second, what they are doing to Wonder Years sounds irritating as fuckall. And what the fuck is a Zwinky? That video is horrendous.

Same here. I thought it was great. Frothing, barely coherent…probably as Sam Kinison as it was Lewis Black. And big ups for “anhedonic.”

I can get on board with most of VCO’s rants that don’t have some racial component. I was there with you on the bluetooth borgs. I’m with you on the square toed shiny dress shoe jean pimps. Lot’s of your rants really register with me. It’s with that in mind that I ask, please stay away from rants with a racial component.

FWIW, I think some of you folks are considering anything non-athletic to fall into the category VCO3 takes offense with. I don’t hink that’s quite right. And Johnny Cash never wore $300 Steve Madden pimp boots.

That VCO3 was not well liked on these boards is news to me. I somehow missed it. I have found many of his posts to be dead on. His take on hip-hop it pretty good…as a matter of fact, most of the things he posts about in Cafe Society I can agree with. I am now curious as hell about these ‘racial’ threads.

Not that anything he posted in those threads would change my mind about the things that I do agree with him on…still. I am curious.

it’s along the lines of “why are black people so loud?” and such and such

Personally, I won’t wear that patent leather crap even with a tux. I’ll take an hour and shine up my best pair of office dress shoes military-style (USAF training at its best) and wear those.

However, there is a difference in the shoes I wear with a suit and tie, and those that I wear when I’m more business casual. Personally, I stick with narrow toe oxfords with leather/wood heels for dress, and I’ll often switch to loafers or wider toe oxfords, sometimes with rubber bottoms, for business casual. Certainly not a hard-and-fast rule, just a generalization.

Huh, I think formal wear without patent leather looks as silly as wing-tips with jeans.

Any shoe you wear with a suit should have a leather sole.* Loafers are considered by most to be too casual for a suit but not a sport coat, tie and pants. While we’re on fashion rants – if you want to dress down from sport coat and tie to something more casual, lose the tie not the coat. It’s fine to wear a coat wihtout a tie. Wear a tie without a coat and you look like a waiter at Applebees.

*notwithstanding some sort of medical condition

Thank you, whole bean. I remember now. That thread was a good one though. I learned alot. And I think it is possible that black people really are louder to him! I mean, if the sound of black voices grate on his nerve more than other voices…it may really seem louder.

But I will stop hijacking now.

who knows. I like his almost all of his posts, but he gets slammed alot for some of his less . . . thought out? . . . threads.

I laughed, I cried, it changed my outlook on the world.

Not really. I did laugh, though.
