5/1/11 Law and Order Criminal Intent

So last season ended with Goren being fired and Eames resigning and this season they’re back with no mention of it. Did I miss something somewhere?

Details are still forthcoming. I like how the new captain was the crook from two previous episodes, a Wall Street Ponzi schemer and a suburban hit man who used a fake crematorium.

The explanation for the return comes later in the season, starting in episode 3.

A condition of Goren’s return is mandatory psychiatric consults with the police shrink played by Julia Ormond

That’s annoying. I like things explained immediately!

Whatever happened to Jeff Goldblum? I only started watching the show for him, and now he appears to be gone without a trace.

Perhaps that will be explained in episode three also. I miss him too.

Last season BEGAN with Goren & Eames leaving the force; the rest of the season was Nichols & his partner.

Ten bucks says they never explain it. The way Goren & Eames left would seem to make it impossible for them to return to the NYPD, and I can’t imagine any explanation being believable. I’ve decided to believe that this sesaon is taking place in an alternate universe from last season, in which it was Nichols who went off the rails over their captain’s death (they were old friends, after all) rather than Goren.

You’re just being testy because I beat you in the obit thread…

Maybe last season was all a dream by Bob Newhart.

Don’t be insane. Rhymers do not get testy, and I have already arranged my revenge anyway.

He was also a bad guy in a couple of the original L&O episodes, and one of them was a memorable enough performance (as a really, really overbearing and domineering husband/father/baaaaad guy) that I’m having a hard time buying him as the captain.

I liked how Goren & Eames magically got their old desks back, though.

Fool of a 5-0!

You mean Tommy Westphall.
