5 reasons not to buy the iPhone 4

That’s awesome! I’m stealing it!

Same here.

How about “5 reasons you should not upgrade your iPhone 3 to iOS4” ?

  1. Because it drains the freakn battery faster than …

I just burnt through 2% while typing that?! And I’m on wifi!

PS: I have a 9 month old 3Gs

I haven’t noticed any difference.

I just sucked down 3% more responding to another thread. Grrr

Make that 4%

Sparky, MY Google-fu is failing, but I just read something a few days ago that stated if you had power management issues to do a factory reset (clean OS install without restoring from backup). Re-establishing the sync settings isn’t that hard and starting clean may improve things for you.

I only had iOS4 on my 3G for a few days before I got my 4 but I didn’t notice any power draining problems at all.

Thanks, I’m going to try that tomorrow. This phone is pissing through the battery ever since I loaded the new OS.

For as great as these phones are, I’ve found an occasional factory restore + re-sync really can perk things up.

In fairness, as I understand it Wifi always drains battery faster than cellular data transmissions.

The funny thing about this is that while it seems to be anti-iPhone customer, I’d react the same as the customer at least until the dog who owns the shop starts to get silly. Removable memory? Customizable fonts? Who cares? It’s a great illustration of the difference between a feature you added to a product and a benefit customers actually care about.

I think it’s a little bit different than your understanding. Using the phone over WiFi isn’t different than using it over 3G. Having the WiFi feature turned on drains the battery because it periodically checks to see if there is a WiFi available and that takes power to do. If you know that you won’t be using WiFi, it is best to turn off the feature to save battery life.

raises hand Removable memory is a dealbreaker on phones for me. Most of the stuff he listed was, actually. I may be more of a gearhead than most.

That was more or less what I meant, I was just being brief.
