“It is a tenet of my faith that the Constitution is divinely inspired,” he said, growing visibly emotional.
Really? what faith? I’ve heard of American exceptionalism, but this seems extreme to me.

He’s Latter Day Saints. Mormon.
In an unusual turn this led Bowers to the correct decision. (if I am reading that right)
Is that standard church doctrine?
It seems so:
The LDS Church recognizes the necessity of government for holding people accountable for their actions and promoting the good and safety of society. The twelfth Article of Faith affirms the duty of citizens to obey the rule of law. Indeed, Mormons believe that God had a hand in the development of the U.S. Constitution. - SOURCE

Thanks, @Whack-a-Mole.
Yes it is.
77 According to the laws and constitution of the people, which I have suffered to be established, and should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh, according to just and holy principles;
78 That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral agency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment.
79 Therefore, it is not right that any man should be in bondage one to another.
80 And for this purpose have I established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose, and redeemed the land by the shedding of blood.
From Section 101 of Doctrine and Covenants (one of the Mormon holy books), when Jesus appeared on Earth a second time, He took credit for the US Constitution pretty explicitly.
Thanks. I’ll stop my potential hijack now.
(Ain’t never heard anyone say the Constituion of Canada is divinely inspired…)
Of course, Bowers has said he’d still vote for Trump in 2024.
Oh, please include accusations that will get Dominion and Smartmatic to sue your sorry ass…
If he hadn’t made the mistake of running for President, he could have continued gliding through the life of a two-bit con artist until the hamberder grease in his arteries finally caught up with him.
That’s why we don’t talk about Canadian Exceptionalism.
Oh, Rusty Bowers is no shimmering example of a fine humanitarian to me. I only posted it to make the point that Trump goes after everyone. But you already know this.
Well, when one of your leading Fathers of Confederation is a hard-drinking skalawag, another is a tee-totaler Presbyterian who uses virulent anti-Catholic demagoguery, another is a French-Canadian who openly kept his mistress, and the Nova Scotian is nicknamed “the Northumbrian Ram”, it’s hard to get much hero-worship traction. Especially when two of them fought on the opposite sides of the 1837 rebellion, then became political allies.
Canada does have a more singable anthem, and mounties.
He’s Latter Day Saints. Mormon.
From Paint Your Wagon (an under-appreciated film, IMO): ‘They’re Mormons.’ ‘Oh. What’s a “Mormons”?’ I can’t think of them without thinking of that line.
Anyway:
Mormons believe that God had a hand in the development of the U.S. Constitution.
Thanks for the follow-ups on the Mormon doctrine. I did not know this.
My prediction: The “report” will just be another request for money.
I’m sure it will be accompanied by that, but I expect it’ll just be a very long rehash of all the unsupported claims of thousands of dead, underage, and illegal immigrant voters that he’s already made. And since it’s about Gerogia, claims about those election workers who are suing Guiliani for defamation. (I’m surprised they didn’t sue Trump, too.) And likely something about voting machines. In other words, absolutely noithing new.
What kills me about this is it has apparently worked for him his whole life. And he has failed at just about everything he has touched. I just can’t get my head around that.
He was small potatoes, with all the webs of deceit and red herrings, not worth a couple years’ worth of a prosecutors’ or investigative reporter’s time to hunt down and prosecute/expose. Then he decided to enhance his brand – his name – by running for President of the US.
I strongly suspect he did not hope to win, but rather lose then spend the following years kvetching about how the Deep State™ stole the election and thwarted the will of freedom-loving Americans and, oh by the way, send me money so I can keep fighting for you!
But he won. And then in the innermost recesses of his mind he thought, “Hey! I’m pretty smart after all!” along with a big dose pf, “What do you think of your son, now, Daddy?” Just as he couldn’t quite believe he’d won in 2016, he couldn’t quite believe he’d lost in 2020 – after all he’d just received more votes than any previous candidate – and nothing the eggheads said would budge him from that opinion.
So he called together his sycophants and the rest is history.
I’m sure it will be accompanied by that, but I expect it’ll just be a very long rehash of all the unsupported claims of thousands of dead, underage, and illegal immigrant voters that he’s already made.
Maybe he’s going to release a set of election-conspiracy-themed digital trading cards.
Thanks for the follow-ups on the Mormon doctrine. I did not know this.
Hello! Did you know that Jesus lived here in the USA?
You can read all about it now in this nifty book. It’s free! No, you don’t have to pay…
