7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

But I’m confused. Last month he swore it was “antifa” that attacked Congress.

So did he think it was antifa while the attack was happening, or did he think he was running from loving white patriots? Or did he think it was Iranians?

Since he seemed so confused about who perpetrated the attack, how did he know not to be scared?

Jeez, they aren’t even trying anymore.

Apparently he operates his own sandwich shop. He was wearing a shirt with the shop’s logo during the insurrection. Genius!

I don’t think so. They have both of them at the riot. We have them talking about the “bear shit.” We have body cam video showing them spray cops. We have a dead cop. That’s “felony murder” even if the spray didn’t kill him. Intent, commission of crime, somebody dies during commission of same.

Not every felony triggers felony murder. Here’s the underlying offences in the federal 18 U.S. Code § 1111 that can support felony murder:

And here’s what they’ve been charged with:

Since none of the charges they face are listed in the definition of felony murder, my understanding is that they can’t be charged with it. But I’m just a Canuck; maybe a real live US lawyer would care to comment? And maybe there’s something in the DC laws that would apply? The interaction between the DC criminal law and the USC is rather complex, I understand.

Dude, just give him a second will ya…

“It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with riots,” Johnson said. “I completely did not anticipate that anybody could interpret what I said as racist. It’s not.”

Knowing what we know now, it does seem like a stretch to prove murder as to the late USCP officer.

And see:

A spokesperson for Washington’s Metropolitan Police said officers responded “at approximately 12:12 pm, to the 3400 block of Massachusetts Avenue, NW in reference to a suspicious person based on an intelligence bulletin that originated from Texas, who was detained by US Secret Service.” Law enforcement contacted the man after a region-wide intelligence bulletin had been issued for the suspect.

DC police say officers arrested and charged 31-year-old Paul Murray, of San Antonio, and that a rifle and ammunition were recovered from his vehicle.

A police report obtained by CNN shows officers allege Murray was in possession of an “AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, 113 rounds of unregistered ammunition, and five 30 round magazines.”

His diabetes was having a bad day dealing with his sex addiction.

Father of the year:

Reffitt [told] his daughter he would put a bullet through her cell phone if she posted about him on social media, according to court records and her testimony at the hearing Monday. He finally told his daughter and son that if they turned him in, they were traitors, and “traitors get shot,” his daughter testified.

How the %$#@! do you register ammo?

That’s a DC government thing. Ammunition which does not belong with a registered firearm is considered unregistered.

“I completely did not anticipate that anybody could interpret what I said as racist. It’s not.”

This says more about Johnson than I think he realizes.

Depending on the charges and the evidence as to cause of death, maybe involuntary manslaughter under federal law.

Whatever will stick. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

And on that note: FBI releases new footage of pro-Trump mob attacking police at U.S. Capitol [Video]

To be fair, I thought that was an odd thing as well, until I googled the words “unregistered ammo”, and read about those laws in DC.

I’ll be a bit surprised if that law isn’t challenged and overturned by our current fairly partisan SCOTUS.

I would not be so sure of that. The SOCTUS is in DC as well and at some point they could be targeted. Has anyone attempted to assassinate a sitting Supreme Court judge? I do believe they have been stalked but can’t recall any recent ones.

Not quite what I was looking for, he wasn’t actively stalking Sotomayor (yet) but was on a list.

A quick google search shows that no one has attempted to assassinate a sitting SOCTUS member. By attempted I mean actively stalking (like the VP Harris suspect) or actually taken a shot at them. I’m a bit surprised by this in that there is another level of crazy that hasn’t been tried yet.
