Last week, but I have NO idea why. I got my eyes dialated, and they were really tearing up because of bright lights. If the kid is genuinely crying, I feel sorry for them, but I don’t give them their way. If they’re throwing a tantrum, I just get irritated and want them to go away.

Yes. If their demand is unreasonable I try a bit of amateur-psychology on them.

Depends on context.

**Have you ever cried in order to get your way within the last 5 years? :frowning: **

Absolutely not.

Why did this come up? Well, because we talked about crying at school and during Math period if you can believe that. How did we go from Algebra to emotions? I don’t know, I really don’t. :dubious:

I do. Algebra is boring.

Are you embarrassed to cry in front of your friends?

Nope.

When I was in my early twenties, I fell and sprained my ankle. I thought I had broken it, and, boy, did it it hurt. I’m sure I shed a tear or two.

**When is the last time you cried, period? :frowning: **

This past week. A friend called me upset and crying, and I cried too. (I also called my mommy because she makes things better.) Then, when I got to my friend’s house, no more tears – we came up with a plan to fix the problem. It just feels better once you cry, and I cry very easily, probably four or five times a year.

Would you think less or more of a man who cried because of physical pain? :frowning:

Neither, unless the pain was so minor that it doesn’t justify crying, in my sole and subjective opinion.

When kids cry does it make you feel sorry for them so you give them their way? :frowning:

Nope. Particularly if they’re crying to be manipulative. Then I ignore them. If they’re crying because they’re hurt, I’ll try to comfort them, which might involve “getting their way,” but it’s unlikely, because I’d be a bit too concerned about rewarding the behavior. (One friend thinks it’s cute when her daughter pouts, so she encourages that. If that were my child, as the saying goes, I’d give her something to pout about.)

**Do you feel sad when other people cry? :frowning: **

Yes, and, as noted above, I have been known to sympathy-cry.

**Have you ever cried in order to get your way within the last 5 years? :frowning: **

No. I did when I was a teenager, but I did a lot of thing when I was a teenager that weren’t that bright.

When I was in a car accident over the easter holidays. I was driving and my eight month pregnant best friend was in the passsenger seat. She was pretty hysterical. The tears were probably from a mixture of shock and pain though. Altogether a pretty awful experience but all ok now.

Um… Little things make me teary, so probably last Thursday!

[/QUOTE]

Seconded on the I hate maths

No, although I can’t remember the last time I cried in front of more than one person. So maybe the secret answer is yes.

Don’t remember.

Less than three hours ago, while I was watching a PBS documentary about dolphins. In the last year or so, I’ve discovered I’m more emotional than I’d ever guessed. And I have a thing for dolphins anyway, they just amaze me.

Not if the injury was reasonably serious- I mean, if it was a stubbed toe I’d find it pretty ridiculous…

No. My youngest brother is 12, and from that I know how easily and excessively kids cry sometimes.

Sure.

No.

I’ve seen plenty of people cry because of math.

Are you embarrassed to cry in front of your friends?

Not at all. They know I’m a sap who cries at sad songs and movies, and also when I get angry. I’m lots of fun to fight with because of this.

When is the last time you cried because of PHYSICAL pain?

I think when I had gallstones eight years ago. That was some pain. Never felt anything so horrible before or since.

When is the last time you cried, period?

A couple of weeks ago, I was angry, sad, and frustrated all at once because of a number of things, and I burst into tears. Luckily I was alone so I didn’t freak anyone out–it was a serious crying fit. I had a bad headache afterwards, but otherwise I felt much better.

Would you think less or more of a man who cried because of physical pain?

Neither. Almost everyone cries at one time or another, so it doesn’t matter whether it’s physical or emotional.

When kids cry does it make you feel sorry for them so you give them their way?

It makes me feel a little sorry for them, but I don’t hang around that many kids so I’m not the one who ends up giving them their way.

Do you feel sad when other people cry?

Yes, especially when it’s someone who rarely cries, like my mother. When we got the news that my grandfather and step-grandmother had died, my mother cried, and she hardly ever cries.

Have you ever cried in order to get your way within the last 5 years?

No, and I find the thought ludicrous, considering when I tend to cry.

Yes.

Probably when I broke my ankle, and even then it was generally when people weren’t present.

I cry a lot early in the morning when I first wake up. I’m very emotional at that time, which is strange, because normally I’m very unemotional (for a woman). If I hear a sad story on NPR about atrocities or horrible things, I’ll cry.

I haven’t cried in front of other people for a long time.

Neither, unless it was a skinned knee or something really minor. I’d just feel bad for him.

Hell no. I don’t have kids, though. Crying kids make me want to scream, unless they’re (for once) not just crying to get their way but are crying because of something legitimate.

It depends on the situation. Generally yes, but I have very little tolerance for drama crying / crying to get sympathy / crying to get appeased and ‘get my way’.

Fuck no!

For the record, I am a 16 year old girl.
Are you embarrassed to cry in front of your friends?

Yes. I’ve never done it before, and I’m not about to start now. I would rather jump off a cliff than have my friends see me crying.
**When is the last time you cried because of PHYSICAL pain? **

Second grade.

When is the last time you cried, period?

A month ago when a “friend” pretended to off himself while I was online with him by turning off his computer, going outside, coming back online and saying “Got you”. He never even answered the fucking phone. Disgusting bastard.
Would you think less or more of a man who cried because of physical pain?

Neither. I understand that some people have lower thresholds for pain than others.
When kids cry does it make you feel sorry for them so you give them their way?

Well, the noise is annoying, jarring and makes me want to strangle them. And no.
Do you feel sad when other people cry? No.
Have you ever cried in order to get your way within the last 5 years?

I actually don’t remember ever doing that. I can understand why a little brat would do it, but a teen or an adult doing it is juvenile and manipulative.

No, I really don’t like children. Why do you ask?
