85th Academy Awards viewing thread

Best Actress, 1969. Barbara Streisand (Funny Girl) and Katherine Hepburn (Lion in Winter).

The secret to Oscar success: Be a long-haired blonde guy.

No idea, but he actually read the card for the sound mixing award. So did they tell Seth MacFarlane in advance?

ok, the sound of music joke was freaking awesome.

Should be a mud wrestling match.

And what’s so hard to understand 30 seconds? It’s really not that hard.

Winners…and answer to a new trivia question!

Especially since Plummer hated his role in that movie.

No, the computer technology is good enough that he could be digitally puppeteered live. The fur wasn’t like the movie version at all, just texture mapped.

That was an amusing way to segue into Christopher Plummer. Wasn’t he rather dismissive of the Sound of Music?

Well, it was funny at least.

That guy will have “Nazi officer at the 2013 Academy Awards” on his résumé forever.

I’m so jealous.

yes!!!

See post #179.

Most likely they recorded Seth voicing all the nominees, and animated all of them so the director could just use the winning take at that moment.

At least I called that one (Hathaway winning) correctly.

Best Actor, 1932. Fredric March (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) and Wallace Beery (The Champ).

Oh god, not one of her quavering tearful speeches…

:dubious:

Hrmmm… I’d be surprised if this was the case. I’ve seen real-time rendering before, but there seemed too much nuance and perhaps not motion-picture quality rendering, but certainly seemed of high enough quality (GI, Hair, Area Shadows, etc…) that if it was performed real-time, I’d be mega-impressed.

Even Mark Wahlberg looked real (kidding!)

Will we hear the Jaws music while Miss Anne Hathaway is accepting her award? I seriously doubt it …

Why am I not surprised that Anne Hathaway just won.

Could you imagine if she hadn’t won? Wow. All the acting chops in the world wouldn’t have helped her to hide her rage.

The Master is being totally shut out. Amy Adams was just astounding in that film.
