9th Annual SDMB Shot Glass Exchange

After promising to send mine last Saturday I, of course, sent it yesterday.

But it’s on its way!!

My mail always comes SO late (4:30) that I can never get it in a decent time, so if mine is waiting on me it still might be a bit before I get it

It sure did!

I just picked it up now. It’s really cool because not only do I not have a Louisiana shot glass, but I also have very few (if any) white shot glasses!

And a [/Love Actually]Lobstah![/Love Actually]

I sent mine today. Should be there in 5-8 business days. If you think you can trust Canada Post. I am sure the Royal Mail end will be fine.

This being my first time on the exchange. I hope I didn’t under-send. All I sent was a very touristy shot glass and something created locally by a company named after a very short man to put in it.

I got pulled out of town but I promise as soon as I get back I’ll ship mine out.

Oh wow! I just got my shot glass…and some more besides.

Inter Alia has sent me a real care package. There’s the cute Lousiana shot glass, plus a miniature flask on a key chain. The latter could come in REAL handy. There’s a package of brown rice, and a package of dried red beans. I’m going to get out my Time Life Cajun cookbook and see what I can do there.

Last but not least is a good sized bottle of dark rum. I guess I should have included a bottle of something in the package I sent, wasn’t sure at the time if it was legal. Must be.

Inter Alia, do you have any good rum drink recommendations?

Thank you so much, it was a splendid package, and you didn’t have to send so much. But I’m going to enjoy it all. Maybe I can cook the rice and beans this holiday weekend, and sip the rum out of the shotglass.

Silvorange ROCKS!

Wonders and wonders galore. A Kentucky shot glass, a Frazier Museum shot glass (Yes, I looked it up. Now I have to go there!) Bourbon. More bourbon. Still more bourbon. (I don’t know what I’m going to do with it all. Oh, wait. Yes, I do!)
And a baseball bat! A miniature but still big enough to put a smack-down on an obstreperous canine or kid Louisville Slugger! PERSONALIZED!!! ZOMG!!!

Silvorange, you are officially the Coolest Person on the Dope. Thanks.

You’re welcome, Baker!

I like the Rougaroux on its own, but it’s also good with Coke or ginger ale.

I don’t know how widely available passion fruit syrup is, but you could make a hurricane, which is a New Orleans classic. Try 1/2 c. rum, 1/4 c. lemon juice, 1/4 c. passion fruit syrup, 2 tsp. grenadine, and 2 tsp. lime juice. Shake and strain into an ice-filled cup.

That’s all I’ve got. That bottle would last me a year, at least.

Also, I love andouille sausage with red beans and rice.

Ooh, I want a badge that says I’m the coolest! I’m glad you liked your stuff. I just love these gift exchanges.

Received my glass! Would like to thank the gentleman in Plymouth, UK who sent it. Thank you.
Is there a story behind the glass choice (Minehead cider co. in Somerset)?

I am going to award bonus points to Sir T-Cups for sending from the heart of NASCAR country a care package that was completely devoid of any NASCAR tie-ins. Although the coffee mug did have a corporate logo on it

Oh no! Was I not supposed to send anything corporate :frowning:

Just be sure to thank all your sponsors in your victory speech.

PS I love the bottle opener

I love sausage but andouille is a mite spicy for me. I may “gear it down” a little. The hurricane sounds good, although I don’t know where to find the passion fruit syrup. I’ll ask at the liquor store, they may know where it’s sold. On another board I had some people give me recipes, and they tell me the brand you sent is quite highly regarded. Thanks again!

This is a post I made last December, about how awesome Silvorange is.

You’re welcome, Baker! You’d enjoy andouille if you spent some time building up your tolerance for spicy foods. That’s why they put Tabasco in babies’ bottles down here.

The rum is Rougaroux, in case anyone else is interested.

Still don’t know if my recipient got their package. They have been out of town, I know.

I wonder if all have been sent yet. Still haven’t received mine, so not sure if it was lost in mail, or sender still hasn’t got around to it yet. So if you have sent it… you now know why I haven’t acknowledged reception.

I have yet to hear if what I sent has arrived. I haven’t received anything yet either. Perhaps there will be some developments this week…

I will send out some emails tonight to see if anyone hasn’t yet received their glass and arrange for replacements to be sent, if necessary.
