I’m up for sending more glasses!
Sent a glass to Australia, but I sincerely doubt it’s arrived yet. To save shipping costs, it went via Pacific salt water snail.
Atomic Mama, I received your package today! I got a cool shot glass with a picture of a swallow on it, and it says, “Just a Swallow.” I also got some maple syrup in a nice glass container shaped like a maple leaf and a bottle of coffee-flavored brandy.
Thanks, Atomic Mama! I shall now forgive your husband for not acknowledging the package I sent last year.
feppytweed, if this pairing was intentional, you have a twisted sense of humor. I like it.
Yes he is, and a great job he did. I’m out of town right now, but my SO sent me pictures… A glass that works well with a phrase I like to use… A drunken Monkey could do that. Perfect. Not to mention a little extra, that I am looking forward to trying when I am back at the house.
Bump for explanation! The package didn’t contain any clues or notes or anything. Fight my ignorance regarding the significance of the shot glass!
I must rather ashamedly admit I only sent my package off today. May/June is the busiest period of the year in the finance game on Australia. Apologies to my correspondent in the Great White North.
Apologies! I missed this the first time around.
I spent a week on holiday in Somerset, and spent a lovely day at the Minehead Cider Company place, where they have some farm animals and some wonderful countryside to ramble through.
I’d have sent some scrumpy with it, but I’m not sure about sending alcohol international!
Thank you for the explanation! Much appreciated. The glass means more to me now that I know it’s from your holiday.
I’ll try to find some Minehead on this side of the pond!
Happy to see that my items were received in good shape … if the pkgs had busted open, that woulda been some kinda mess
Chuck received his shot glass & lil nip from “xizor” AGES ago, but he doesn’t post to the sdmb, so I will say THANKS for him! GOOD STUFF.
I apologize for being so late in replying … our relocation continues, and continues to be sorta crazy.
atomic mama
Inter Alia, it took longer than I thought it would, but I cracked that bottle of rum you sent.
Whoa! I took just a nip on ice, and let’s just say it made me sit up and take notice.
Now I’m going to have to try the mixed recipes that you and others provided.
Received my package today. Thank you Whiskey Dickens. It’s a very nice glass, quite pretty. I haven’t tried the lollies you kindly included just yet, but they sound interesting. I’d never heard of icewine before. Cheers.
You’re most welcome, GreedySmurf!
Icewine is a local wine, invented in Niagara. The grapes are left on the vine until after the first frost, and the resultant wine is thicker and sweet. We’re pretty proud of our vinyards here, so I figured it would be a good flavour to expose to someone from Australia. My apologies for not including a bottle of the actual wine, but they’re in the $50 CAD range for a cheap one!
It is a hot muggy day here on the shores of Lake Huron. I foolishly ran around doing errands over the noon hour. I pulled up to my house and I could see it. A box, covered in stamps, sticking out of the mail box.
I opened it up to discover two lovely shot glasses from the Land Down Under and a bottle of home grown rum. Thank you so much, GreedySmurf. I am going to get some nice Canada Dry gingerale to go with it, per your instructions.
Now, if only there was word that the package I sent has arrived. It is long overdue.
I have to say, Baker, if you didn’t care for the rum, that’s a very diplomatic response. Feel free to share some of those mixed drink recipes if they turn out good.
Oh, I liked it. What I meant was that, as I don’t drink a lot of hard liquor, just a little nip of the rum had it’s way with me. That’s why I’ll look into those mixed recipes.
It arrived today! My daughter is now sporting a Canadian temporary tattoo, and I have a new zip pull for my lunchbox!
The shot glass itself was broken, though - not the glass itself, but the metal maple leaf had fallen off the glass. A little bit of hot glue should sort that out though.
I am so glad it finally arrived. I am more than a little irritated at both Canada Post and the Royal Mail for the lies about shipping timelines. Five to eight business days, my great white northern butt.
With Canada Day fast approaching, I was considering doing a second round of shopping, as there will be nothing until next May when Victoria Day approaches. I do not live in a very touristy area. Canadiana is seasonal here. Come to think of it, I should stock up, just in case.
Temporary tattoos are a personal favourite. Glad they were put to immediate use. The glass seemed well put together, but I admit that the metal maple leaf did give me pause.
For all of the “Air Mail” stickers and ticks on the box, it still went Surface Mail.
I am ashamed to say I just got my package to the post office today.
It will soon be on it’s way to beautiful Pearl Mississippi.
Well, with Hurrican Arthur going up the East coast I decided to try the Hurricane recipe Inter Alia listed. I found the passion fruit syrup and the grenadine. I also bought limes and lemons and squeezed fresh juice. Whoa, what a way to celebrate the Fourth of July!
I hope I’ve spelled everything correctly here. I previewed and found som bad spelling, I wonder why?
