A 17 day vacation? Are you shitting me?

“Hypocrisy? I don’t see no stinkin’ hypocrisy! Obama was a Muslim!
Fake news! E-mails! Lock her up! Benghazi! Bill was an adulterer!”

I know. Can even the trumpiest trumpkin defend this?

This isn’t about other presidents, or whether he earned the time off. He specifically stated that he wouldn’t take vacations or have time for golf during the campaign. Many people thought he was full of shit when he said stuff like that, but there are folks out there that ate ate it up and applauded it. Are any of those people willing to call Trump a bullshitter on this fairly minor point or are they, like the president, just going to pretend like he never said it.

Looks as though doorhinge doesn’t mind.

What makes you think I was denigrating it? Now get busy, pumpkin.

Yes, I really am a fireman…I got the hat and everything.

Doorhinge wouldn’t mind if he was run over by Trump’s limo as long as libtards are upset.

Trump supporters aren’t very well informed and are not very bright. Just sayin’.

Why would anyone be upset?

Only us SDMB libtards know who Doorhinge is. To everyone else, he’s a faceless nobody.

Limo’s not a hybrid.

Given that there is barely even incidental contact between Trump and the job of being the President, what does ‘vacation’ even mean for him?

He gets to be away from DC and play golf during the week instead of just on weekends. That’s about it, AFAICT.

Of course, the real problem here is that most Americans can’t take a 17-day vacation, either because they literally don’t get any paid vacation, or get paid vacation but are lucky to be allowed to take that much at once.

If anything good could come from Trump’s vacation, it would be people saying to Congress, “we all ought to have paid vacation by right. Now make it happen.”

Yeah, there’s an issue to really Republicans.

I’m not sure why that is the “real problem”. Is it your contention that the US president should not be afforded something unless most Americans are afforded the same thing? Most Americans don’t make anywhere near 400k/year. Most Americans don’t get free housing, food and transportation. Most Americans don’t get Secret Service protection, or have streets cleared for them when they get around by car.

Plus, this is going to be a working vacation to some point, even for Trump. A certain amount of work is going to follow him whether he wants it to or not.

I think the hypocrisy angle is a better argument, but of course we know Trump is oblivious to that. Had he not shot off his mouth, I’m sure he’d still get criticized, but it wouldn’t ring as true as the criticism of him doing what he said he wouldn’t do.

A fellow can dream, can’t he?

Is this like that briar patch thing?
In THAT case Oh please Resident Chump! Please don’t run doorhinge over with your limo! Please don’t say what was that and back up over him to get another look!

Dreams give us hope.

Complaining about Trump going on vacation is like complaining about a restaurant’s lousy food and small portions.

You know, for any other president, I’m sure you’d be right. I can’t imagine Obama, or Bush, et al. completely forgoing all the business of their office. Even on vacation I think they’d get a daily briefing of some kind, meet with a local congressman or senator, make a few phone calls, etc. I can imagine it of Trump. I’m sure there’ll be someone following him around with the football, and he’ll be reachable 24/7 in case of a crisis; but just waking up, hitting the links, having lunch, and skipping all business, I can totally see it.

I’m wondering if he’s feeling that since he’s playing the presidential role as a freebie to the USA that he’s entitled to do just as little as he can get away with. Oh, and as far as working, it seems that he’s crashing a whole lot of weddings on the clubhouse grounds.

Wondering what all the kiddies, grandkids, and Melania and Co. do with all that time at the golf course? It’s not like they can jet away to NYC or go shopping or take in a show–and the golf course seems like it’s out in the boonies.

Meanwhile the “dump” is probably being gold plated inside and out.

With all due respect, that speaks to the limitations of your imagination, not to the reality of the job.
