Happy birthday!
I heard the news today, oh boy …
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, Zoe. I know we don’t cross post much but you put your b-day out there and I have read a lot of your posts, so I wish you well. My birthday was the 6th so we are both Cancers. God, don’t you hate that? We need a new birth sign.
Well, I don’t know about Vera and Chuck, but my real name is Dave, and I’m here.
Today, it’s pretty hot in this part of the country. It’s your day though, so I’d recommend that you might like to be under the sea, in an octopus’s garden in the shade.
Happy Birthday, Zoe! Have a great one!
Have a [My] Bonnie birthday!
Happy Birthday Zoe!
Some beautiful beetles for you:
What?
I don’t know any Beatles lore, but I brought virtual red velvet cake. Enjoy!
That Zoe…she’s not a girl who misses much.
do-do-do-do-do-doooo…oh yeah…
Have a rockin’ good time on your b’day! And shake it, shake it, shake it, baaaby, now (shake it up, baby) Twist and Shout!
Happy Birthday Zoe!
For one day, the guitar shall gently laugh, instead of weeping!
Um. I’ve got a handful of bugs. Can I come to the party?
I could be handy mending a fuse, when your lights are gone.
Or rent you a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it’s not too dear.
Happy birthday, Zoe!
Happy Bastille Day and Happy Birthday!
I will give you a verbal snapshot as a gift:
I was living in NYC and it was one of those gorgeous, early Spring days that had me walking home from work instead of taking the subway. The last stretch of my jaunt home was through Central Park…so I was wandering happily and, looking down the path, I saw a woman with a white dress, long flowing black hair and a huge smile. I smiled back, thinking - she looks familiar.
Wait…that is Yoko Ono…and my eyes went to the guy holding her hand walking next to her and yes, it was John Lennon…just the two of them, and me, walking through Central Park on this beautiful day.
And although there is no Kodak copy, it is a moment frozen in time and a mental snapshot I will cherish my entire life.
Happy to share it with you, on this, the day before MY birthday.
It’s not a performance by the Beatles but is a performance to the Beatles:
[/shameless self promotion]
Zoe! Zoe! (I just noticed what a joyous exclamatory your screenname makes unto itself!)
Well, by far the best convergence of Beatles and AHunter3ish sentiment goes something like this:
We were talking about the space between us all,
and the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion…
Try to realise it’s all within yourself. No one else can make you change.
When you’ve seen beyond yourself, then you may find peace of mind.
We’re all one, and life flows on within you and without you.

Thanks for all the incredibly nice things you’ve said over the years. I enjoy reading all your posts when I see them. Happy Birthday!
May the remaining 3/7 of your life (+/-) provide you with opportunities for serenity, passion, anguish, wisdom, satisfaction, and giddy-delicious delights.
Everybody gonna dance tonight
Everybody gonna feel alright
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
Everybody gonna dance around
Everybody gonna hit the ground
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
[Chorus:]
Well you can come on to my place if you want to
You can do anything you want to do
Everybody gonna dance tonight
Everybody gonna feel alright
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
[Whistling]
Well you can come on to my place if you want to
You can do anything you want to do
Everybody gonna stamp their feet
Everybody’s gonna feel the beat
Everybody wonna dance around tonight
[Bridge:]
Everybody’s gonna dance tonight
Everybody gonna feel alright
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
Everybody gonna jump and shout
Everybody gonna sing it out
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
Well you can come on to my place if you want to
You can do anything you want to do
Everybody gonna dance tonight
Everybody gonna feel alright
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
Everybody gonna dance around tonight
Everybody gonna feel alright tonight
Happy Birthday, Zoe!!!
Ooooh! You’re all much taller in person! How pleasant of you to drop by! Love you presents, good wishes and jokes!
Someone tripped over some sugar cubes and fell into the lake. (We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert.)
Hello, hello, Sternvogel! Is that confetti in your hair? Dazzling White Diamonds must have passed your way. (I think she’s really Liz Taylor incognito…hmm…Lizzy in disguise with diamonds…) By the way, the county where I grew up was once one of the largest producers of strawberries in the world. The strawberry fields were everywhere for miles.
tdn, I especially loved the kisses! I even went on to level 2. I don’t think I’ve kissed my monitor before. It was really dirty! (Anyway, George is the best.)
Leaffan, I love that song! I used to call a young friend when she was llittle and sing it to her: “It’s my birthday too, yeah!” Goodness. She is eighteen today! There are some other Dopers around with birthdays today.
Count Blucher, thanks for reminding me that there is once again a single Beatle out there! Wow! And it’s Paul – “the cute one”! (I once sat inside a service station with my back to the window while a then thirty-something Paul McCartney drove in and got gasoline. Didn’t know until it was all over and the guys who pumped gas were falling all over themselves. I knew that Paul was staying on a farm outside of Nashville for a few weeks, but geez…I just know Paul would have loved me if he’d had a chance. I can sing better than Linda…
Earthworm Jim, I think celebrating at the drop of a hat is a great idea! Sometimes I celebrate the Oneth of the Month! For a while I even celebrated Tuesday Afternoons…because of a song. Hmm…May have been the Moody Blues…
fishbicycle, your pirate line is a hoot! (Hope Eleanor Rigby doesn’t see that one!) Suddenly my image of you has completely changed! Would you like to captain the Yellow Submarine for a while?
Zeldar, are you flirting with me? That’s a beautiful song and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before. It may be an oldie for you, but it is great to find Beatles that is new to me. From 1964? Wow! “When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year…”
Purplkid_Caterer, it’s been a long, long time since I’ve had Norwegian wood. (Or shall I say, he once had me.) From Flekkefjord he was. Claimed he’d been “skiing” since he was two. Beautiful ski pole work. Kept it polished.
Dottygumdrop, peanut butter brownies forever! Move over girl! Loved the link to “8 Days a Week”!
Thanks, Suburban Plankton! Glad to know you’ll still be celebrating!
I’m Ron Burgundy?, just your very name sounds like it should be from a Beatles tune! Do come and sit down if you are having an identity crisis. We had so many in the Sixties. Maybe we can start a Sensitivity Group. At least your color looks so fine on you. It could have been puce or umber. Eew.
MerryMagdalen, I certainly think that topping the bill will be to Mr. Kite’s benefit. And I will waltz with any horse who will do the box step. I am partial to quarter horses.
twickster, as long as “they” don’t publish my real name and age on the front page of the newspaper, I’m fine. That happened to a friend. She was a fellow English teacher. Colleagues had tried to find out her age and she wasn’t giving us any hints at all. Then one night she had a car accident and was D.U.I. Front page news! Thanks for your good wishes.
gardentraveler, you are not going to believe this. I didn’t know that album exists! When did this happen? I am so unaware these days. Thanks for the link!
Abby_Emma_Sasha, happy birthday to you too! I am so in agreement with you about “Cancer” as a sign. Yuck! Don’t care for the crab part of it either! I guess it was just in our stars.
WhatHappenedNext?, the first thing that I thought of when I saw those beetles was what gorgeous beads those designs, shapes and colors would make! But then, I guess they would be “Beadles.” And I really wasn’t reaching for the pun. That was the process my mind went through. Red Velvet cake? Red is my favorite color! Cake is my favorite fuel!
Spoons! Welcome, Dave! Just remember that you are an official “Dave” of “When I’m 64.” It is now your duty to show up for people’s 64th birthday parties. You need to find a Vera and Chuck and advertise. Make some money out of this.
I would indeed love more shade today! Our car thermometer said 97 degrees while we were out.
blondebear, I wonder why it is that things are “bonnie” across the pond, but not in the USA generally. From time to time a girl is named Bonnie. And it’s such a good word.
I’ll be back in a moment to finish greeting my guests. Believe it or not, my mother is on the phone!
It’s a lovely party, Zoe. Glad you liked the album. I think it came out last year. Someone around here told us about it in Cafe Society. Maybe we’ll run into him and he can tell us more. Say hi to your Mom from us, of course!
GT
off topic but I have to ask - how many times have you been told “Dave’s not here, man”
<whispers> I’ll just be over by the door, with my face in a jar…
Happy Birthday, Zoe!
Happy Birthday Zoe! You’re one of the doper class acts. What can I say? There’s just something in the way you move. ![]()
