A belated MMP

A conference call/Powerpoint presentation. Meeks must have done sump’n really, really bad to be punished like that! :stuck_out_tongue:

Purple. Ok… to each his/her own… ::shudder::

I have N.O.T. cooling to make N.O.T. sallit. Yes, I know the lunch is not until Sunday but I don’t wanna cook all day tomorrow. The chicken boobs will be done within the hour. Tomorrow I’ll make deviled aigs and the cabbage casserole. Sunday mornin’ I’ll cook the peas. After church, what’s needs warmin’ up will get warmed up and the rolls will be popped in the oven. That way I can be gracious host and [del]get snockered[/del] serve pre-luncheon bloody mary’s.

See, I have a plan. I’m all about the plan. The plan is good.

I was gonna build the quiches, but I didn’t have an half-and-half, so I couldn’t. So I made some brownies instead and called my sweetie and asked him to bring home the half-n-half.

Turns out my phone has been off the hook all day - well ever since SIL got a phone call. I didn’t push the END button before returning the phone to its cradle. OOPS! :o

Right now, I’m fortifying myself with rocky road ice cream. Then I’ll go shred the swiss cheese. And chop up some fake crab. I’ll make one veggie quiche and one pseudo-seafood quiche. And they will be nummy.

I’m with you on the purple, swampy. Just wait till you see the shade of green that’s going in the bedroom. Mr. Swampington will just have an attack of the vapors!!

Drat. Nat woke up tired and cranky after ten minutes, so no nap, just an attempt later to beat Mr. Lissar into going to bed before 11.

Sigh…why can’t I get my daughter to get her hiney in gear?! I have stuff to do, food cook, errands to run! Arrrrgggghhhh!

The plan sounds good to me, Swampy.

FCM, erm…wow, purple! Is that one of your daughter’s favorite colors?

So, we’ve been invited to dinner tomorrow at a friend of our friend’s girlfriend. Does that sentence make sense? We don’t even know the friend of the girlfriend, and were hesitant to accept the invitation. Our friend and his girlfriend were invited over and asked if we could come. This is what made us hesitate. The girlfriend said they’re such a tightknit group of friends, that any friend of the girlfriend (or, in our case, the girlfriend’s boyfriend [our friend]), is a friend of theirs. This is the hostess’ point of view, anyway.

So, we’ll show up with some adult beverage and dessert, I guess. We don’t know what to bring, and don’t want to screw up her menu. We also don’t want to show up empty-handed. That’s just rude.

The weather here is beautiful. I’m sitting here in tank top.

I guess I could get a start on some chores while I’m waiting for my daughter to finish getting ready.

Hi folks!

Poor LiLi- Nat is destined to keep you sleepy! If it’s any consolation- my nonsleeper now has to be dragged from bed in teh morning. Of course it’s 13 years later… but… there you go.

Here is another line I like from that same writing piece my daughter did-

“I was elated to be in the garden, sitting on my bench which glowed with mettalic [sic] pride in the sunlight”

Cool!

Taters, green and purple were their wedding colors. FCD hates their choices. I’m not crazy about them, but as long as they repaint neutral when they move out, no biggie.

If they’re like Rusty, they won’t – they’ll hold it. For two days. Papa Tigs finally put him on a leash and walked him till he gave up and peed. For 45 seconds. Then he went another 50 feet and peed again. For another 45 seconds.  Stoopit dog!

But hey, at least we don’t have to worry about his kidney function.

I just got informed of what the job I’m going to be working on starting next week is: something about prison rape. :dubious:    :frowning: You know, there’s a reason I stick to dull, boring federal stuff. :frowning: Hopefully, between now and then, something will come along to give that delightful :dubious: job to some other poor sucker!

Is it bedtime yet?

Oy, been busy dis mawnin’, fo sho! Made two coffee cakes, blueberry, peach, apricot and white peach with a cinnamon/brown sugar streusel topping. Made a gigantic amount of pasta sallit–I had to get out my five gallon dye pot to stir it all up in! The veggies alone halfway filled my largest sallit bowl and the pasta (about 2/3 cheese ravioli and 1/3 cheese tortellini) completely filled a big 6 quart cooking pot. It’s veggie loaded, though, red, yellow and orange peppers, green onions, red onions, zucchini, cucumber, crimini mushrooms, avocado and a whole bunch of fresh oregano flowers from the herb garden. Then olive oil, coconut vinegar and creamy caesar dressing to sticky it up, then a huge amount of shredded asiago and pecorino romano, garlic salt, pepper and dried basil. It filled up TWO of the disposable pans I got yesterday! They’re about 12 x 8 x 3, roughly speaking.

So right now I’m putting my feet up and having a slice of the “extra” coffee cake I made to go along with the big ones getting ready to put together two pans of Poulet de la Mort–I will let everyone know how it works with allspice since I can’t do nutmeg. Himself says he has a similar reaction to it as I do, pyrotechnic heartburn and upset tummy. Maybe we’re allergic or something… I’m using half thighs and half breast, and I’m going to mix it up, using both types in each pan. I’ll get it all bunged in the oven by two or so, I think my oven is a little slow based on how long it took to do the coffee cakes so I think 2.5 hours at 325 will be best since I’m doing a pretty large volume of food in that oven. I doubt it can overcook, really…

Argh, back into the trenches…

Dry thoughts for DoRe, keep safe!

Whew!

I made a pan of brownies, and now I’ve got 2 quiches in the oven - one with mushroom, the other with fake crab. I’m going to steam some broccoli for a side dish, and maybe pull out some cherry tomatoes.

**FCD **just informed me he doesn’t want to eat. SIL is at work till 9. Daughter isn’t home yet. Looks like guest and I get a quiche apiece! And brownies!

Even tho it barely hit 80 today, I had to close the house. The humidity indoors was 74% and outdoors felt like a sauna! Sunday, it’s supposed to hit mid-90s! Dang! But after that, it’s plummeting back to the upper 70s, which is decidedly nice. We can open the house again. Yay.

Stay safe, Rebo!! And after Ike passes, let me know if the mega-dillo survived!

dinner time, salmon, rice, and asparagus. Gas at the Shell went from 3.69 to 3.95 during the time I went to the dog park. Luckily, I ony needed four gallons to fill up.

I read that as mega-dildo.:smiley: I do like the tool nook, if not the color.

This is a Houston landmark. Pic of the Giant Armadillo.

Still waiting… Galveston and Surfside are flooding bigtime now, due to storm surge. It could be 20-25 feet!

I’m gonna go make some fried poke chops, mashed NOTs and peas. Could be the last non-grilled meal in a while.

Later, gators.

ETA: First! Woo-hoo!

I cringe in fear about what shade of green that might be.

The N.O.T. sallit is made. All the chicken is done. I cut up four cabbages into chunks for the cabbage casserole. Still, I ain’t done near what SmartiePants has today. I want some of that pasta sallit. It sounds waaaaaaaaay too good!

Ok, I need to clean up the mess in the kitchen, I reckon.

Later Y’all!

Another stay-safe message for Rebo. Just read through the Ike thread and it sounds really bad.

I got home at 5:15 or so. Not quite as early as I’d pictured.

That is quite a colorful bathroom, I must say.

I’m currently considering what to do this evening. Putting a movie in and napping comes to mind.

Went to Chipotle for lunch and I’m still full, so I think dinner will be minimal.

Back later…

I just got an email from AT&T that my last payment was returned. So I called my bank and they said that they had no idea and that it didn’t look like AT&T had even tried to take the money out in the first place. So, I tried to call AT&T since they were supposed to be open until 6 p.m. Central and… they’re closed.

P.S. Yes, there’s plenty of money in the account.

Moooooom, see, I have spent enough time in the US to know that when you say “crock pot”, you mean “slow cooker”! And that comes from someone who was veggie for over 25 years.

Swampy, Toad Up The Pole is indeed great (and quick) winter food. Also, you can make large Yorkie Puds and then fill them with whatever you like. I often make a crock pot of stew which gets served in a pud base. Am I mixing my cultures here?

At this point, I should let you know that I’ve been out for the evening with friends. We went to the pig-chewers to see “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” and then went to Old Orleans for dinner afterwards. I had yummy tuna steak, with a Long Island Iced Tea and a large glass of wine. Followed by a glass of wine at the station while I waited for my train home, and I appear to have glass of wine at home now. Oh dear, I think my liver wants a quick word. And it’s probably not a good one.

Spaz - if you mention Yorkie Pub to a British person, they’ll know exactly what you mean! You furriners need to have it explained to you. I only know this from a long courtship with a gynaecologist in the US which involved much travelling on my part, and much fun on his. Is that TMI? Nayway, I introduced him to the delights of English cuisine and he made me a very happy person for the duration of our time together.

Incidentally, although Yorkie Pud is a savoury batter, you can serve it with whatever filling you want. My preference is for savoury stuff, but that’s because I’m not a huge fan of desserts, but if you want to stuff it full of ice cream and fruit and things like that, I’m told it works very well.

Hey beebs!!! Where are you??

Stay safe Rebo. I’ll be thinking of you while I’m worrying about my brother too.

Now, can someone tell me what this NOT everyone keeps talking about eating is?

Beanie - that’s potatoes, as in “Not our Taters”!

Forgot to say earlier…I added Yorkshire Pudding to the Mumpers’ food blog…

The Boy is working late again, so I’m trying to figure out what to have for din din. Since I was bad and had McD’s for lunch, I’m probably going to atone by having something disgustingly healthy… I’m thinking maybe a veggie panini will hit the spot.

FCM, I forgot to mention in my last post that the purple is ummmm… bright. And this is coming from a girl who had a lilac-purple bedroom at one point (not my choice… it was already painted that way, and I was too lazy to change the colour). Hey, at least it’ll wake them up in the morning.
