No way am I reading all that. I swear you all post extra on Fridays. Hope all are safe and dry from Ike.
Work was ok, I ended up taking care of a post op tonsillectomy who turned out to be the BF of one our more prima donna-ish surgeons. She was nice as pie, though, so I’m left kinda as in, why can’t you be as nice when you’re here and working?
Rainy here–misty drizzly humid yuck.
I did see mention of Yorkshire pudding, which I grew up on and love beyond reason. Damn good stuff. (the dog–not so much. Little yap yap thing, just makes me itch to kick it. I don’t kick dogs–it’s a joke. Call off PETA)
Off to make soup for #2 son for dinner. I’m having a fudgesicle–it has calcium in it.
EWW! ICK! GROSS! I cleaned the smoker and took the grill apart and sprayed it down with oven cleaner. Ima let it sit (set?) overnight and clean the grill in the mornin’. I got all hot and sweaty and oven cleaner smelly so I took a shower. Ol’ y’all know who said I was being overly hyper but stuff’s gotta get cleaned. I’m his catalyst for keepin’ his place reasonably sanitary because he does not want to hear about it. I’m far from a spotless housekeeper but clean and sanitary is a must. I worked on the cave a little bit each night this week so it’s in good shape for company.
Ike is some skeery stuff! Stay safe Rebo and others!
Neat, Meeks! I think I can hear the New York in it. One of my old roommates was from somewhere near you (can’t remember the exact town right now) and she had a similar intonation.
Talked to one of my friends on the phone for a while; nice distraction. We used to work together, and don’t get to talk to each other nearly often enough.
Yes, rigsy, we posted extra just for you. How did you know? :p:D
I should do something to get sleepy.
Din din was a few crackers and cheese and some figs. They had some very nice (and rather expensive) figs at Whole Foods the other day.
After dinner we sat out on the porch and had a little neighborhood hurricane party. Then it started to lightning and sprinkle, so we came inside. We had the dogs out with us, and they behaved for once!
Poke chops were the nom!
Still not having much input from Ike. Power outages and lots of flooding in Galveston.
Hey, here I am making it barely under the wire before y’all change to the new MMP. It’s only 11:41 here, so it still is one of the happy days to be an Alaskan. The only shopping I did was for dog food though.
I have not read through Thursday yet. Skiffman has authorized the purchase of a laptop for me, which is going to make it ever so much easier to keep in touch. I don’t know if it’s just me getting older and slower, or if the combo of the homestretch of raising kids since 1982 looming and perimenopause has knocked me a bit loopy, but I am not being able to keep up with life, and haven’t been for a while. I think my mother’s health is playing into things, I find myself fighting a depression. Anyway, to get back to the point, a laptop will be a huge asset to my life, yay!
Summer has been over for oh, about three weeks. It’s dark by 9:00 pm; the wind howling around the corners and slashing rain are doing a job of the flowers I had blooming, so much never got past green. A bit of lyric taken out of context, but appropriate none the less, "The far away hills ain’t as green as they once used to be.
I’m glad you are back meeka. I need to try the chicken, (“Tastes of human”), and I am pointing to rosie’s sig line right now. I’ll give you a choice of photo subjects for tomorrow, Tea or flowers. The last two puppies need to be bathed and brushed before they get another photo shoot. Oh, and someone remind me to tell you the now ongoing saga of Zoey the Psycho Min Pin who is currently residing with us. Oh, oh, also remind me to share the recipe for the best pork loin I have eaten ever.
I’m beat, the sheets are calling my name, good night good people.
Another busy weekend - hubby has been at work since last night (it’s 12 now, so going on 16 hours overnight), HRH is with MIL and I am about to go out for lunch to have a break for a couple hours. Here is the latest batch of pics of Her Royal Highness!
Actually, we’ve had worse (not counting this house in its original state.) The house we bought in Virginia in the late 90s had a huge master suite with a nice big whirlpool tub in the master bath. It also had pink wallpaper with swans all over it in the same bathroom. And huge mirrors so we had *twice *as many swans on pink!!:eek::eek:
We never did change it before moving. It became someone else’s problem. (Hey, we were only there 3 years - bathroom wallpaper wasn’t a priority in the beginning.)
I’m up earlier than I’d intended. When I got up just before 6 to pee, Scruffy decided she needed to go out, and started barking. So I took the doggies out and figured I’d come on line a bit before heading to Leonardtown. I need to get some cash to make change (can’t believe I forgot to do that yesterday…) and I need to leave for the town center by 8. The show runs 10-3, and I’ve got the 2 girls to help me set up. And lucky for all of us, the route home goes right by Papa John’s, so I can pick up supper. Now, as long as it doesn’t rain…
That’s all for now, except, hi, kai!! Yay for the new toy! Looking forward to the MinPin story.
Morning all! For the first time in about two weeks, it’s actually not raining today. I’m waiting for 'im indoors to get out of bed and make himself presentable so we can go into town and do stuff. I have a list of errands, I suspect he just wants to traipse round the games shops as usual but I have serious things to get done!
There’s a possibility that I’ll be making the Chicken Boobies of Death tonight, I have most of the makings except for chicken, soup and bacon, and those are sort of important. If not today, then tomorrow. We haven’t done the week’s grocery shopping yet (usually happens on Friday but I was out carousing instead) so that will probably happen tomorrow.
Off to deal with my photos from Antwerp Zoo now. Woohoo!
Kai, any stories and/or pictures will be wonderful. How could we choose?
Well, today should be a fairly eventful day here. I’m off to water aerobics first and then Sam’s Club for monday’s supplies. After that I have to go cut fruit for a fruit tray. Then I’m meeting the client at 2 to give him the fruit tray. Lastly it’s off to TVLand where I’m sure I’ll be taking a nap as soon as I get there after all of my other running around.
I woke up with sharp, stabbing pains in my lower legs. Tjen I realized it was just Thrak, so I kicked him off the be. I’m gonna take Nelly to Shelley lake before it gets too hot, then do laundry.
Good luck swampy!
kai, I vote for pictures of tea with psycho dog.
Dotty, HRH continues the cute rampage. I like the one where she looks like she’s unleashing an earth shattering burp
I’m dressed and ready to paint. Really. Longest project ever, I’m afraid. I want to finish painting the trim, at least, this weekend. And maybe even get a coat of primer on the floor.
I want to get started with painting chairs, too. We’ll see how that works out.
It’s supposed to rain today (all weekend, really), so there’ll be lots of indoor stuff to do.
Hope Rebo (and everyone in Ike’s path) is safe.
Breakfast is Death Chicken and tea. And maybe a fig or two. (I’ve got several left.)
