A belated MMP

Hi y’all! We’re doing ok. The power was off for a few hours, but that’s all. Lots of people have no power still, and it might be a long time before it’s restored.

Our new tree is just about uprooted! :frowning: I’m sure it will be ok - we’re gonna call the tree people we bought it from and ask them what to do. There’s a hyyuuugge limb down in the backyard (the neighbor’s tree.) They never trim it, we always do.

We also just found out they left their dog out all night long!!! I hate those people. Tom is going to go take pictures of him chained to a tree. Assholes. We’ll contact the Humane Society and turn them in. I don’t think we can get back there and let him loose.

Looks like we may get a new roof, too! The storm ripped off a bunch of shingles, and an old Direct TV satellite dish that’s been up there since I moved in.

All in all, not too bad yet. It’s still raining like a mofo, but the wind is not so bad. I got about 4 hours of sleep. Mr Rebo slept less than that.

I’ll keep y’all posted.

Wow–it sounds bad, but not terrible for youse guys, Rebo. Stay safe.

It’s been raining here all day and all night. We have a trickle of water in the laundry room (normal). I was delayed in my morning run, because running in pouring rain is not fun for me (drizzle or snow is). I’m about to head out.
No idea how much rain we got (or where it’s coming from–must watch weather channel soon), but my 55 gallon rain barrel is full and overflowing.

Rebo glad ya checked in. I’ve been keepin’ my cell phone at hand just in case. I’ll continue to do so.

:: PANTPANTPANT :: The grill is clean. So is the back porch. The cabbage casserole is bakin’ away. The deviled aigs are done. The dishes are washed. Actually, the grill wasn’t as bad as I thought. It only took me a half an hour to clean it up. Sprayin’ it down with oven cleaner the night before is definitely the way to go.

Now that I’ve calmed down I’s hongry! Need to forage.

Later Y’all!

Glad to hear you’re doing well, Rebo.

Second coat of paint on the window trim. Third to follow soon. After the first coat it looked much like the FairyChatKids’ apartment bathroom. It’s supposed to be a dark very subdued/grayed purple. Second coat is looking closer to what I want. Hopefully third coat will be the charm. Otherwise 4th coat will be a different, darker color. The primer was tinted, but probably should have been even darker. I have some dark gray primer in the basement that might be what I wind up using on the floor.

Also caulked the bottom of the baseboard along the outside wall.

Now I’m going outside for a bit because it looks like it’s not raining and I’m feeling a bit claustrophobic.

Back soon.

Good morning everyone.

I’m vertical, but that’s about it.

I don’t have any left over Death Chicken to eat as breakfast. The whole dish was scarfed up last night by my husband, daughter’s boyfriend and son. My daughter and I each had a little too.

I’m glad you’re doing relatively okay, **Rebo. **

Hi Kai, nice to see you again.

:::::YAAAAAAAAWWWWN:::::::

I’m still way sleepy. Hopefully, the coffee will remedy that.

Back from run–like running in a steam room. Not fun. But I ran 13 out of 17 minutes, which is great. I did 1.4 miles. I came back and looked at our rain gauge: a full 5 inches last night.

Running sump pump as we speak…

Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong with iTunes? Not the store, but just downloading CDs. I have Mary Chapin Carpenter twice (each tune is listed twice). Also, when I transfer stuff to my Nano, I can’t seem to get anything into “on the go” (although somehow I have an “on the go1” that works), and “artists” is just an exercise in frustration. I think it takes its info straight off the CD without allowing me to label stuff–pain in the butt.

Shower and then soccer game (under water).

Good morning folks! I fixed blueberry pancakes for brekkie this morning, and they were delicious if I do say so myself.

kai, can’t wait to hear about the crazy minpin (LOL) and am anxious to see your pics too, even if they’re not of the Pom pups. Dotty, omg, HRH is such a sweetie pie–I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but now I wanna be a grand mom so much!!! OMG, what am I saying?! LOL Seriously, though, she’s a doll baby.

So glad to hear that you’re doing okay, Rebo! At least you have power–it sounds on the news like it’s pretty bad down there, though. Hope y’all continue to hold up okay!! Thinking of you, that’s for sure.

Okay, back later on … enjoy the weekend.

Yay for safe Rebo! Boo asshat neighbor. I took Nelly to Shelley lake. Most of the trail is shaded, so we felt OK until we hit the dam. Pictures to follow.

Morning Taters!

Good job on the grill, swampy. Go find yourself a picnic basket.

Ooooh, rigs I’d try to help, but I am so not an iTunes expert. (My solution would be to delete the whole thing from your library and start over, but I’m sure there’s something more elegant.)

Funniest appliance ever.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? I hope they get banned from owning another dog again forever.

It’s too muggy to live today. I was going to call the lawn-mowing boys, but I’m gonna hold off until it dehydrates a bit. We’re a bit behind on payments to them, so I feel very guilty about asking them to mow the jungle when it’s 95% humid out as well. The yard can wait until Money Day.

Nononononononononoooooooo. Won’t be doing that.

But I love the toaster–I want one! They could make some major money off of that.

The fish we bought for the tank seem to be alive and happy.

We bought two tiger oscars, two bala sharks, two rainbow sharks, two plecostmus, two parrot fish, two pictis catfish, and 30 feeder guppies. There are currently about five guppies left.

One of the oscars has already got quite the personality. It’s smaller than the other one, but definitely more pushy. He’s quite funny to watch. The rainbow sharks like to chase each other around, and one of them will try to chase the bala sharks around too. We’ve spent an inordinate amount of time watching the fish between last night and this morning. It is relaxing.

The set up is kind of natural looking; natural looking gravel, rock formations, and a log (gotta give the fish somewhere to hide). We bought two real plants and two fake plants as well. Anyway, it looks really nice.

I’m going to have finish this cup of coffee (my third) and hit the shower.

Afternoon! We all slept in, I’ve made cinnamon buns (glorious, and I’m typing with one hand plus my pinky, only fingers not covered in caramel), and wrestling with blogger.

Can someone tell me, in very simple language, how to do the scrolling sidebar for other people’s blogs? I found the controls on Mr. Lissar’s blog for it, but the gadgets page seems to be absent from mine. Someone? I can’t code. I’m looking for the nice shiny icons.

I put some pictures up in my Tour of Raleigh album. Today’s walk pics are the first non-disaster pics.:dubious:

Soccer was canceled and thank god–but no phone call or email re canceling.

Doggie looks like she approves of Raleigh.

I am not sure what I want to do with today–this is not good, since that always leads to me doing nothing and regretting it later. Ideas for a mushy, drizzly, wet Saturday? I’d rather not clean, if you don’t mind.

Ummmm, read a book, rigs? Reorganize the pantry? Ummm, I got nothin’.

I figured it out! That’s about the first computer thing I’ve ever figured out! I’m so proud of myself!

Ahem. The cinnamon buns worth of sugar talking.

LiLi, do you mean a sidebar with links to other blogs? It’s pretty easy to noodle around with the overall layout of your blog these days (much more so than in the old days, when we had to code our own dang stylesheets by hand and be grateful for even that much).

Just login to your blog, click the “Layout” link and you’ll get a nice page showing all the elements currently in your blog. To add more, just find the section where you want to add something and click “Add Gadget”, and a list will pop up for you to pick from (mine, for example, has a sidebar with my tags, archived posts, the Daring Bakers tag, and my statmeter do-hickey). Hope that makes sense.

So far today, we scooted down to the neighbourhood farmer’s market for some goodies (a pair of ginormous beets, some fresh tomatillos, carrots and a small musk melon we gobbled down for brekkie) and the greengrocer’s for some more (figs, pears and apples). Then we mowed the lawn and yanked out some weeds.

Not a bad start, if I do say so myself.

Glad you’re doing okay and that Ike’s been relatively kind to you so far, Rebo. Will continue to think dry thoughts for you.

ETA: I see LiLi got it on her own. Yay LiLi!

Evening all. Hubby is safely ensconsed in his bed, after working 19+ hours overnight until 3pm today, so I will be attending the bank’s Ramadan party (commonly called a ghabga) alone tonight. I would honestly prefer to stay home, watch TV and go to bed early, but this is a “see and be seen” type corporate thing, so as a relatively senior employee I have to go put in an appearance. Sigh …

Doggio, puppy sure looks like she enjoys the grass! I had almost forgotten what the stuff looks like. It’s kind of depressing going out for a walk around the neighbourhood with HRH of an afternoon, and seeing nothing but asphalt and dirt! Admittedly, we could get in the car and drive a few minutes away to the local park, where we would have the pleasure of walking on the (dry, brown) grass there, but I would love to have a garden/yard with some grass and a few plants, where HRH could wander round and play. Double sigh … I just have to keep saving and hope house prices don’t continue to outpace my savings (not to mention my earnings).

Okay, I better go get ready for this blasted thing. Later y’all!

Hubby is back from teh UK- happily he brought back Tolberones, shortbread cookies and (my favorite) Kit-Kat bars.

Oh- and a flying pig and cow. But of course.
