A Birthday to Remember… The MMP!

{{{{{rigs}}}}} My condolences.

she doesn’t exactly pick my nose, but if I don’t get out bed on time in the morning, Smokey will tap my nose with her paw . . . which contains sharp little claws

Ever have a claw-snag on your nose?

I’m so sorry, **rigs. ** Please accept my condolences.

I’m very proud of my daughter who has been nominated to join the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society due to her GPA. She isn’t home, so I can’t congratulate her until 9:00 tonight.

Congrats to Dotty and **Nooner **on closing their deals. I’m also glad to hear your house isn’t going to collapse on you Dotty.

Work was blah. I’m sick of it; so very sick of it. I need to win the Lotto.

(((rigs)))
The house looks okay. Not fall-in-love stellar, but decent and livable. With a Real Kitchen, and laundry facilities, and stuff. A patio and backyard and balcony. We can either rent the top two floors or the basement as well. The price they’re offering for the whole house is a little silly- the basement apartment is pretty good for midgets (Mr. Lissar is not a midget)- so we’re maybe going to offer them less for the whole thing or just take the top. We’ll see.

We may be moving in August. We’re going all together next week, and then we’ll decide.

Oh, yeah- my parents are pretty non-interfering. I think I could live right near them without stress.

Hi y’all!

Sorry rigs about FIL my thoughts are with you and the family

gotti good luck with the new start. I feel your pain on the house - I have lost $145K on mine a bit further south in California which makes it worth about half what I paid for it and the bank won’t help.

The company the hubby and I both work for are doing another round of layoffs (7 or 8 now I can’t remember) in the US and we don’t think hubby will survive this one. I am ‘semi-safe’ over here in Paris so at least we can pay the mortgage for now

Speaking of which I should probably get ready and go to work

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. In need of brekkies.

Yay for daughter Taters!

Here’s hopin’ your hubby survives the layoffs MMMMMM.

Brekkie foragin’ here I come.

Later Y’all!

(((((rigs))))), my condolences to you and yours.

It’s gloriously sunny here today, very strange weather for Glastonbury week! Anyway I plan to make the most of it by sitting outside the pub tonight for beerverages as I’m celebrating losing a whole pound at Fat Club last night. My friend did really well, she got two shiny stickers for her book - one for reaching 1.5stone loss (21lbs) and one for having lost 10% of her starting weight. She’s doing really well, and she said she can now get into one of the skirts I gave her when I had to downsize my wardrobe. She said it’s still a bit tight across the middle but she can get into it and do it up so that’s definite progress.

I guess the next step will be going back to the gym…

When the alarm went off this morning it actually scared me. I hate waking up like that. Yesterday was such a long day, though, I guess I was exhausted and still not ready to wake up. Today will probably be just as long, I’m guessing. At least most of this busyness is related to profitable work. I truly am glad for that.

The Dope was down this morning. Vindicated! :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{{{Rigs & family}}}}}}; you’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Up and semi-caffeinated, moved on to herbal tea. Trying to cut back on my caffeine intake. Hump day! Two more to go to the weekend, woo hoo!

Happy Wednesday all.

I guess we’ll just have to re-nic you bobstradamus, then.

rigs, I am sorry for your loss. Even though I was long divorced at the time, I still mourned the passings of my ex-in-laws. They were good people.

Congrats to tater daughter! You have every right to be proud.

ems, hope hubby makes it through the cut. Stress counselor yesterday says that instead of looking at 10% unemployment, we should be looking at 90% employed. Mr. Anachi says that’s fine as long as you aren’t a 10%er.

I have been both frenched by the chihuahua and snorted on by the pug.

Psycho department head is in Puerto Rico today. Excuse me while I do a demure happy dance.

Must work. ::sigh::

Tupug

I’m a poor Mumper - I can’t remember hardly anything I read! :frowning:

Rosie’s sig to all…

Well, I’ve been drooled on by both of my Boxers.

I have a t-shirt with a picture of a Boxer on it between 2 sliding paw prints and the caption, “You haven’t lived until you’ve been slimed.”

Up and caffeinated. I think I’ll get my car maintained, then clean the fridge.

Good luck to Mr. ems!

Congrats on losing, BooFae!

Fingers crossed for both you and hubby, mmmmmmmm.

rosie, I’ve had a cat nip my nose once or twice (very gently, mind you)… it’s not pleasant, but not painful either. A claw snag, on the other hand? owowowowowowowowow.

Looks like it’ll be a quiet day… I’ve got absolutely zip to do at work today. Which, of course, leads me to wonder why I got out of bed early so I could get here at my usual time, instead of rolling in at 10am like half the other slackbutts around here.

Blargh.

Almost forgot:

Happy Birthday Muppet!!!

Happy Birthday Muppet!

How do your coworkers get away with not getting in to work until 10, Muppet? Especially in this economy, I wouldn’t want my manager thinking I don’t have 8 hours of work to do! Maybe some of them aren’t necessary if they don’t have enough work.

Yay for your daughter, Taters!

Good luck with the impending layoffs, mmmms. My husband faced a similar situation - about 30% of his company was let go through 2 layoffs this year, but he made it. Just a positive story to give you some hope. Although if he gets laid off, would he be able to join you in Paris? That might be the silver lining of a bad situation.

Someone burned popcorn at work this morning. That was about an hour ago and the stench is still pervading our whole wing of the building. Ugh.

It’s 89, but feels like 96 outside. How lovely. NOT.

I am planning a Jane Austen day–I’m going to the library to check out the miniseries with Colin Firth, then wash my hair and watch it ALL AFTERNOON.
It’s either that or clean the basement. Don’t wanna.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and condolences. Stay cool, all!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys.

Thankfully enough, the Canadian job market hasn’t taken as bad of a hit, taxi, at least outside of the manufacturing and trucking industries (which rely on the US pretty heavily).

There’s definitely been a change in corporate spending (no more catered meetings, no more cakes on birthdays, and no holiday parties) and there aren’t as many new jobs being posted internally… but otherwise, we’re doing surprisingly well in the telecom world. I guess people now think of their cell phones as a necessity, rather than a luxury.

The other reason for people getting away with coming in late is that we’re a major project team (we’re two years into a five-year project). They don’t tend to get hung up on the whole eight-hours-a-day thing because there are substantial peaks and valleys in the workload - as long as we can step up and put in the hours needed for the big deadlines, there aren’t any penalties for rolling in a little late or leaving a little early when things are really quiet (so long as we’re still getting work done, of course).

It’s a big difference from how I’ve spent most of my working life, because up to two years ago, I was quite literally on the clock (meaning, my login and logout times were monitored and counted towards performance evaluations). Hence me showing up for work on time today, rather than taking it easy like I probably should have. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, when I am Supreme Overlord, I will issue a ban on microwave popcorn in all offices. I can’t stand that smell. Also, anyone who leaves food to rot in the breakroom fridge will be summarily executed.
