{{{Muppet}}} - I’m so sorry! What a shock it must be! Was it his heart?
And there’s nothing wrong with strawberry shortcake for breakfast! People eat all kinds of sweet stuff for breakfast that’s not even remotely healthy - like donuts and pancakes and pastries. You have fruit and cream!
Hugs for you and DH too, {{{Gotti}}}. New opportunities await! It’s got to suck donkey balls, though.
snowbunny - my Ernie’s entire reason for getting in my lap is to stick his tongue down my throat. He luuuurves me. I need to get his teeth cleaned; his breath reeks!
Yay for completed projects!
I’m milking my one little drawing so I won’t have anything pressing before vacation. I’m *so *glad I’m not on the project from hell with Scary Crazy Engineer.
Ooh! Power glitch! Wouldn’t that be awesome if the power went out? UPS’s are beeping - three times now. :: crosses fingers::
Hope everything turns out ok with the house, dotty! That’s scary! Glad the long work hours are over.
I did get to work from home last night so it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as having to stay here. Hopefully today won’t be bad, but I’m not holding my breath.
It’s HOT here too… not as hot as Texas or Georgia or Florida, but in the mid-90s with a heat index around 105. Yippee. I brought my lunch to work today so I won’t have to go out at all.
We grilled little pizzas last night to avoid heating up the kitchen. They were throw-together-the-leftovers pizzas: leftover chapati with leftover sauce from some Tunisian pepper chicken (no chicken… just the tomato-based sauce), pepper jack cheese, and leftover bbq pork, and non-leftover TJ’s frozen bell peppers. I love those frozen bell peppers. Anyway, the pizzas turned out really tasty. We need more leftovers to make more pizzas with!
Afternoon all. Structural engineer assures me that the house is not about to come crashing down around our ears, but the new building next door may continue to “settle” for another 3-4 months yet, so there is no point getting any repairs done yet. They will monitor for us and communicate with next door’s owner/contractors, so we don’t have to get involved. Apparently, the main problem is that when the new building was put up, they did not put separation or isolation blocks (or something like that) between our wall and theirs, so there is some structural “argy-bargy” going on between the two structures as the new kid on the block settles in!
taxi, I sneer at your mid-90s - 90F is an overnight minimum here lately (cite)! Seriously though, I got in the car this afternoon to go pick up HRH and thought I would melt - it felt like (I imagine) the inside of a fan-forced oven! Most days, I use the spare key to go start the car and turn on the AC. Then I lock the car and leave it to cool down for 5-10 minutes before actually going anywhere - this is not a problem in a country where petrol/gas costs about US$1/gallon ($0.26/litre).
Rebo, I don’t really have any details beyond the fact that just collapsed with no warning signs at all. But when a healthy young man just drops dead like that, it’s usually a heart thing.
Yay on the house getting a clean bill of health, Dotty! I’ll never complain about our overzealous building code again (unless they quash our deck plans, in which case I will shake my fist and stomp my feet in frustration).
taxi, those pizzas sound delicious! Not bad for a use-up-the-leftovers meal.
And for those of you who are complaining about the heat… it could be worse. We may be only in the mid-70s, but we’re also two days into a garbage strike. Hot and sticky is much more bearable than hot and stinky. Hmph.
Yeah. Fingers crossed that the garbage strike ends really soon. and (((Muppet))).
It’s still too hot here, even if it’s only in the mid-20s.
Mr. Lissar’s gone every evening and all weekend for his 2nd degree karate grading, and we’re looking at a rental house tonight that’s almost directly opposite my parents’ place, and trying to figure out if we can creatively ignore each other enough to give both families space. I think we can manage it. The pictures look good- we’ll see if it’s dire inside.
Howdy Y’all! I came home to the cable actin’ up but it’s fixed. It seems my cable box decided not to speak to the cable company. I wonder what it was mad about? Anywho, a signal got sent to the box and now I can has cable again.
It’s only 94 degrees Amurrkin out right now as compared to the 102, 103 and 104 it’s been the past few days. I may need to put on a sweater.
Dindin tonight shall be burgers and fries. I’ll be usin’ more of those 'maters I laid down in the yard and gave birth to yesterday. It’s a good thing I consider smartassedness to be a good quality in a person is all I gotta say.
dotty glad everything’s ok house wise and yay on closin’ the deal.
Reckon what kind of pizza I could make out of leftover butterbeans and brown rice taxi?
I’m glad that you weren’t part of that Metro crash Herbs.
Stinky and hot sounds horrible, Muppet! Hope the garbage strike ends soon!
I don’t know if I could live that close to my parents or my in-laws, LiLi. Good luck with that decision.
After yesterday’s disastrous start, it looks like we’re going to be finished by 3:30. So then what am I supposed to do for 2 hours? (If I manage to make it to 5:30, though, I’ll have put in 3 hours out of 4 needed for my 1/2 day Firday! Woo!)
Beans are yucky. So no wacky recipe ideas from here, swampy!
Oh, Muppet! Many hugs sent your way and prayers for your co-worker’s family. LiLi, little Nat is getting bigger and cuter, and good luck with the housing! Taxi, I forgot to say before that those make-do pizzas actually sounded good! I lurves me some chapatis, btw … num!
I’m feeling some better now…I think it’s the doggone virus that people keep passing around and back and forth at work. Dang, I wish that folks would stay home when they’re sick! Stop making me sick!! LOL
LiLi, there’s a long list of things I would do long before moving within walking distance of either of my parents, let alone across the street from them… but then again, the differences between your parents and mine are rather substantial. My mother and I coexist peacefully mostly due to the fact that she needs to take a 5-hr train ride if she wants to drop by for coffee.
Besides, it’s not like your current apartments is all that far away from them as it is (though it does have the benefit of not being directly visible from their front porch, which I guess might be a consideration). As long as it’s in reasonable shape, I say go for it.
And speaking of things I’d do before moving near my parents… off I go to the dentist for my semi-annual cleaning and checkup. Please send lots of non-bloody, cavity-free thoughts in this direction. kthx.
PS - just for that swampus, I’m gonna FedEx my garbage to you.
Sorry, didn’t read. My FIL died this morning–very peacefully and with his family around him. I am fine, just tired. Am off to see #2 son at camp to see if he wants to come home or stay until Friday. There is nothing planned until Friday (FIL did not want a funeral).
That and it’s freaking HOT outside–I hate AC and I hate summer.
I have, that’s Buffy the yorkiepoo’s favorite thing. Now that’s gross! She also likes to french. I have been spared the sneeze on a yawn, so far, but with 2 dogs and a cat, it’s only a matter of time.
{{Muppet}}
{{Gotti and DH}} I’m looking at doing something similar, only I won’t be going as far. I am looking for an apartment nearer my SO, only an hour away.
So sorry, rigs. Sending good thoughts to you, TH and family.
The dentist visit was uneventful. I got sent home with a clean bill of health, a slightly bloody mouth, an earful about flossing more diligently (yuh huh… sure… okay) and a bag full of dental care goodies. Hurray.
