I’m bummed that our governor has decided that it’s a good idea to cut library funding right now, when they’re extra-busy trying to serve job-hunters and people whose incomes are reduced. I am working from home today, since we have a structural engineer coming to check if our house is about to collapse on us. The apartment building that has just been built next door (which abuts one of our external walls) seems to be leaning on our house and there are some seriously scary cracks appearing both inside and out! Fingers crossed it’s just cosmetic, but given the lack of proper regulation for construction here, I have my doubts! :eek:
muppet - nothing else to say really, something similar happened to a guy that I knew from the Appeals Office here, he had a heart attack at his desk one lunchtime, it was a big shock to everyone.
gotti, sorry to hear that things are not going so well over there. I did wonder why Arnie and that scary woman-thing he’s married to weren’t on tv over here any more telilng us how wonderful California is and why we should all be moving there to work.
'im indoors is trying to decide whether we should go to New York or Barbados for a holiday now that he’s finishing work. I think it’s an easy and very obvious decision, well it is for me, but I am not sure what he’d find to do for a week in Barbados!
Dotty - yay on the successful closing of the deal! I know exactly what you are feeling – we passed our Customer’s testing on-site yesterday So all the work nights and weekends was worth it.
Now I’m letting myself play around on the internet a bit on the workplace’s dime Not too much, though – there’s still plenty of work. Just no so much that I can’t breate!

I have a confession to make. It’s horrible so I will spoiler it…
I have been absolutely transfixed by the Jon and Kate plus 8 saga. I mean- where are her parents? She made a comment about her childhood once and it wasn’t pleasant. All these commercial tie-ins gross me out, what is the impact on the kids of being filmed so much etc etc. I’m such a weenie!
Anyhoo- little girl has auditions today for “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown”. The boy and I has appointments to meet with a personal trainer at the Y. The housekeeping fairies-for-hire come today. It’s another day in the tower!
Ooh, so sorry that folks were worried about me! The subway crash was horrific, but it did not affect me or my commute. Thankfully on that. Prayers for the families of those involved.

Thanks for the hugs, guys. It helps. He was a wonderful guy, with the biggest heart and a smile to match, and always with a funny story to help us get through a rough day. I’ll miss him a lot.

snowbunny, one of the kittehs frenches me every damn morning. She seems to have figured out that it’s the quickest possible way to wake me up, and that waking me up is a critical step on the path to breakfast.
I’m eating leftover strawberry shortcake for breakfast. Why? Because I can, dammit. (besides, it’s a wholesome combination of fruit, dairy and grains, so there)
