You just need to find a place where you can have your own park! Get yourself a cap that says “Puppy Park Ranger” and restrict entry to preferred patrons! You’re welcome!
**MetalMouse **- The only reason Lisa is our favorite is we’ve known her forever. She used to work at the cafe in Leonardtown, tho she left there before we quit going. When we saw her again at CB, we were rather surprised that she remembered us, and now we always ask for her section when she’s working. She always brings our diet cokes to the table first thing and always makes us to-go cups before we’re done eating. And she asks about Roxy - I swear, one of these days we need to take the baby to breakfast with us. Anyway, that’s why she’s our favorite. And she gets good tips from us which is probably why we’re her favorites.
Laundry is all on the lines, and I vacuumed the car and the house. I need to clean the inside of my windshield and replace my wiper blades. Guess that’s next on the agenda. Oh, and I had to close the house and turn on the air. Dammit.
I had a 3-egg sausage, mushroom, tomato, and cheddar omelette. I made Mrs. L.A. two eggs, scrambled, a sausage patty, and a biscuit with margarine and strawberry jam.
They didn’t exactly have a choice of volunteers! Actually, he was a lot better this year after the 10 minutes of grumping about everyone and everything when he arrived, he cheered up and actually treated me like a grownup-ish, though he did kinda leave me running the stall myself a lot. Someone has been telling him to knock it off saying stuff in the meetings, maybe he did take the hint.
I really should defilthify the flat tonight. Maybe after dinner, though I have a bad habit of vegetating after eating.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had a <snerk> Quickie <snerk>, I do love the patty melt there, and have achieved nappage. I ended up bein’ Crucifer, non-cannibal Lector for both lessons, and served Chalice. I didn’t trip, forget how to read, or drop the Chalice so I call it a win. 'Tis hawt and hazy out like mid-Summer.
Nuts glad your partner was better behaved. One can be a grumpy old man and still behave somewhat. Heck, I am a grumpy man, but I mostly behave.
Nettie yay for DH. Hope he gets to come home today.
Butters hope all goes well for hubby tomorrow. Maybe irk beats a drive all the way to Miami and back.
When we go to the bar down the road to eat, there is usually a server there who’s all “yay! it’s y’all!” She gets good tips.
Laundry is in and put away. I’ve got a pot of veggie-beef-rice soup simmering on the stove. **FCD **watched the Redskins lose (he hates them) and he’s currently watching the Dallas game. So I guess it’s football season. rah.
Ripple is bringing me my dirty socks in exchange for a squirt of cheese.
I wonder if I will have two dogs bringing me things in exchange for a squirt of cheese?
FCM I think puppy park ranger sounds like a fun idea.
I also think restricting what dogs can come in would make a lot of people happy too. There are more than a few dogs that can clear the park. I always think their owners feel bad about driving people away, but the probable truth is that they are happy to have the park to themselves.
My son has a tough school assignment. He has to talk about 5 small acts of kindness he has done (for strangers) in the last two weeks. Kind of hard for somebody who never goes anywhere.
He did hold the door for somebody at the Mexican restaurant. That counts, even though IMO, that is normal human behavior, nothing special. I don’t know if it counts that he took the neighbor’s trash out for her, because she is not a stranger.
What this class is calling small acts of kindness is what I call normal behavior.
Normal people hold the door for others, normal people help somebody who is struggling with a trash can or heavy packages. Normal people give lost people directions. Giving up your seat on a bus to an elderly person is normal behavior.
I don’t see them as small acts of kindness, I see it as civilized.
Although I will admit to being impressed when a younger woman at the park jumped up to go pick up poop so an elderly woman didn’t have to. Very nice of her.
Sometimes I feel like I should do that, except then I realize they aren’t much older than I am.
Hope all goes well with hubby’s shocking treatment butters.
sari, the pup swim isn’t tomorrow evening, it’s later in the month. Dog Park Ranger sounds like a good gig. The only dog park near my dad’s house is privately owned and is pay for play (last I checked it was $40 a month, no partials). They do get to make the rules and determine who can come in though.
I heathenated today. If anyone sees a spot on NBC about Sunday Assembly Nashville, that’s us and you might see a glimpse of me. The potluck went well, the kids enjoyed their story and making peacocks (connected with the story). Nelson had a good walk around the complex and I ate a bowl of soup and a bowl of cucumber salad for supper. The next time that I make the soup, I’m going to try Italian sweet sausage instead of hot to see if it improves it, although it’s pretty good now. The milder version would be for potlucks and other occasions where not everyone is into spicy food.
Went to a family reunion and stuffed myself with good food. It was my maternal grandfather’s family. They have been having these ever since I was born, or maybe before, as a way for the descendants of my great grandfather’s family to stay in touch.
We told some wonderful stories, and a lot touched on religous faith. I meant to tell about my maternal grandmother, but did not remember. She was a pillar of the church in my own town, but many don’t know she didn’t grow up in a religious family. She didn’t attend church until she and my grandfather were courting, so later on, afer they married, she was baptized and confirmed.
I made a chocolate cream pie that was a recipe of hers. I helped my mom make baked beans, with sorghum, brown sugar, and lots of thick cut bacon. Yum!
My dog is curled up looking at me and wondering why I smell like good food. I’d better not turn my back on him.
Thanks for all the good wishes. This is not the first rodeo but still scary. Hubby is just ready to get it done.
I have done a metric tonne of laundry today. Still got one in the dryer and one on deck. I think I shall finish the laundry and call it a day early. I did not nap today so I am ready.
Mrs. L.A. wanted me to pull up the ‘vines’ that were invading the rosemary bush. There were a couple of small blackberry vines that were trying to grow, but mostly it was sweet peas. Damned things are impossible to get rid of. Turns out that these fragile-looking vines have some very stout roots. I dug out the ones by the rosemary with a weeding tool, and then used a pickaxe to dig up another section.
After weeding I took a two-mile walk, had a shower, and then made fried zucchini.
The day started at 30:dark (which is an hour before dark:30!). This morning I was looking for penguin because I was in some effing town…literally!
Then back East for some bike races, then back westish for a space shuttle launch, saw it pass by the moon, too.
All in all, 200+ miles & 16+ hrs out of the house today. I filled up the tank Friday evening, between yesterday & today, I’m now almost on ‘E’, & that’s all local(ish) driving. Mebbe it woulda been easier to go away (which was the plan).
well golden child’s birthday went ok except for a few mishaps… mainly Grubhub screwing up my order so badly they refunded me the money the driver never showed up to pick up my food KFC had it for an hour in a half and put it back … … and I had to reorder it for pick up …
but the amount of butt-kissing aunt gives the golden family is embarrassing and even the oldest grandkid notices it now …
DH is now home, and being a bit of a PITA as predicted. He also has an appointment with primary care MD tomorrow to address his diabetes (known diagnosis, he’s just not been paying much attention to it for a while now). I need to call out and inquire about FMLA processes, take him to said appointment, handle interfacing with his employer, and hopefully maybe even get around to some of the housework that normally gets done on weekends but obviously didn’t this week.
