A bleary eyed MMP

Howdy Y’all! I attempted to post this mornin’ but The Dope wouldn’t let me. :frowning: Never could get the reply to thread thingy to come up. Had a meetin’ from nine this mornin’ until four in the p.ofm. at the church house. ‘Twas a good meetin’. We had a facilitator from the Diocese, someone I like a lot, there. This was a Vestry thingy to discuss mutual ministries, mission and vision statements and such. We got some sad news while there, one of our parishoners, who had been ill for quite a while, died this afternoon. So there will be funeralizin’ in my near future. RIP Jim, you will be missed.

{{{Nettie}}} I’m sure DH will come through the surgery just fine. Glad to know he will be fully covered whilst he recoups.

I read all, retained next to none, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, noogies, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

I feel the need to veg to some Netflix. My brain is full!

The pulled poke was yum, and there’s enough left over for 2 more meals. Dishes have been rinsed, and I’m about to assume the recline position. Definitely sleeping with Mel tonight. I need an uninterrupted night.

Happy Saturday!

Was a pretty day today. A chilly 57 this morning, so I pulled out the long pants.
Went to the park this morning and then to the Pooch Plunge afterwards. Ripple doesn’t not like pools. I gave him a little push to encourage him and … he can swim.
We met up with three of his friends from the park and only the lab liked the water.

I should be getting my little girl on the 27th. The airlines won’t let snub nosed dogs go in cargo anymore. so a pet ‘nanny’ will be bringing her.
That means I will have to go into the terminal this time.
I am not looking forward to that.

{{{Nettie}}} I hope everything goes well with DH and surgery.

{{{Cupcakes}}}

Sorry you have another funeral coming up Swampy

I heard today that the husband of one of my cousin’s died. I never met her husband, I haven’t seen that cousin in years. I doubt I will go to the funeral.

My mother called me today. I got an earful of what is going on in the family. There are a lot of things I’d rather not know.

Was wiped out earlier today, so took a nap.
Now I am up and irking.

Evening all. Soccer lasted from 8am to nearly 4pm, with a 90 minute break at home (the first game was at 8:30am, the next at 12:30pm). Girls lost (but they played better) and both boys teams won (but I had to referee both games in 90+ heat), so I celebrated by eating at Oliver Garden on Saturday evening instead of Sunday noon. Belly is full and sloth level is high, I am trying hard not to lay down to early because once I do I suspect I’ll be out like a light.

FCM, I always liked those OT paychecks too. Don’t spend it all in one place, now…

Nettie – best from here as well. Broke a few legs myself; some on my actual body over the years – but never quite to the surgery stage. But that was rare way back then – casts were still plaster casts in those bygone ages. He has my sympathy and the OW sends you hers.

Doggio – hoping most of the future ones will be more funny than sad-funny.
Tomorrow some more scouting around my new work-cave and showing the OW the lay of the land around there in case some day she drops me off and picks me up. Had to reset the digital channels on my little desk TV. Generally accomplished some stuff.

I replaced the media in the RO filter, and it leaked. I took it down, removed the permeate pump while I was at it, found out were the gasket went and put it back together. I only had to do it once!

I went to the Mac store this morning. I tried to restore from the backup, and it looked like it was working – only it would take over 2 hours. I left, and they said they’d call. Turns out, it crashed. Then it crashed again. When they finally called, I asked them to try again. Minutes before closing (about 10 minutes ago) they called to say it successfully restored. Monday I have to go in to give them a signature so they can take it in for a full diagnostic session to find out the underlying boot/freezing problem. (I’m guessing it’s the hard drive.)

On the new MacBook… Mail wasn’t working. They couldn’t get it to work at the Mac store, so I started a chat session with Earthlink. Over two hours later, it still wasn’t working. An hour after the end of the chat session, a supervisor called. I could barely understand him, but the gist was they’ve done all they could and I should contact Apple Support. The one thing the supervisor gave me that the chat person didn’t was a correct domain name. I deleted my Mail account and entered IMAP, SMTP, password, etc. again to create a new one. It looks like it’s working now.

I got out of bed a bit after 0600 today. I turned on the TV to catch the news. No signal, and ‘334’ on the cable box. Cell service isn’t exactly stellar here, so I had a few dropped calls trying to connect with Xfinity. I was told my cable box was working perfectly. Um… No. There’s no signal. I suggested I try unplugging it and plugging it in again. That worked.

Not a good day for me electronics-wise, and the whole routine took all day.

Some sad news for me. Robert Lancaster, who I met via the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) passed away today. It has been expected, he’s been in hospice in California for several weeks, but it still hurts to lose him. He was a kind and decent giant of a man (about 6’6" and 325) who practiced skeptical thinking while never losing his temper or his dignity.

If you want to read more about him, visit here: Robert S. Lancaster - Wikipedia

So I haz a sad.

What I’d like to say to the lady who let her hellspawn run shrieking through the store tonight: “Exorcism, a beating , or Quaaludes. Fix the problem, lady.”
But 2 days off in a row.

I’m sorry, MetalMouse.:frowning:

when I seen this article I thought it was about doggio on a bender MSN
welp the 3 months of holiday hell is fastly approaching…I’m in no way to looking forward to it …rumblings about draggin Halloween decorations out for inspection are being made …

Sari does your son know about his fur sibling to be yet?

hope the op goes well seanette…

you know swampy i was raised in a family where grandpa was an associate minister all his life and im not religious personally but if I had to go to a church these days … id try yours cause they sound progressive if not liberal …

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 98 and mostly N.O.S. Summer time it still is! The big plan of the day is deheathenization (I am a non-cannibal kind of Lector) followed by a <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> N.O.L. After that who knows, other than [del]laziness[/del] chillage shall ensue.

MetalMouse sorry about the death of your friend. I read some of the stuff about him. Sounds like quite a character and a fun person to know.

Shades St. Pat’s is not a perfect place but, for me, the best church I’ve ever been a part of. I ended a sentence with a preposition! Will I be haunted by the ghosts of high school English teachers?

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Yanno, I can’t recall the last time I was paid real time-anna-half overtime, but I know what you mean. In this case, my normal work week these days is 24 hours, so everything over that is gravy. And in this company, no matter how many hours you work, you get straight pay, or comp time if you so choose.

As for spending it all in one place, technically, VISA covers multiple purchases…

Mel knocked me out - I’m pretty sure I was asleep before 8. One brief bladder break around 3-ish, and I finally got up about 6:30. I have since ingested some toast and I’m still caffeinating.

Today’s agenda is laundry, and I’ll probably push the vacuum cleaner around a bit. Beyond that, I’ll wing it, because I’m all spontaneous like that!

Happy Sunday!!

Afternoon all!

As projected, irk was fairly irksome yesterday with least-favourite co-irker. Shortly heading out to a local event to sell honey for the beekeeping group. Just hoping the guy I’m allocated to irk with can knock it off with the sexist and racist comments and ignorant pro-brexit crap he was coming out with next year. He’s one of those old guys who’s barely ever left the county, so I’m guessing probably not. It’s a shame, it’d be a nice event if I was paired up with someone I got on with, but last year I couldn’t even talk to the guy without him trying to get some nasty dig in at someone, apparently assuming I agreed with him. Add to that a ‘shut up and respect your elders’ overtone, and I’m kinda wishing I didn’t sign up to volunteer for today, but I didn’t know I’d be with him again.

Anyway, I’ve been making a horrendous mess in the kitchen the last few days trying to melt and filter the beeswax I’ve collected. I’m not going to have much and I reckon most of that is going to be spilled over the counter by the end of it. I’m hoping to make candles at some point, but you always get way less wax than you think- it’s the holes.

sari, Nelson had pretty much the same reaction at Pup Swim last year. He enjoyed being off leash with his dog park buds, but wasn’t interested in swimming. However, we will return again this year for his annual swim test. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{baker, swampy and metal mouse}}} It’s hard to lose someone you love or are close to.

nut, is there any way you can have a choice of pairings next year. Should enough of the group make the same request, perhaps the organizers will say something to the old man.

I got a lot of stuff done yesterday. I found a tablet that I was in the market for at Tar-jay and ordered it online for store pickup. What surprised me was that the price ranged from $219 (Tar-jay) to $549 ( Best Buy) for the same rig. I have most of it set up how I want it, but need to add a couple of apps.

I made an awesome pot of Italian sausage-zucchini soup, two dishes for the potluck after heathenization today (we have a speaker that will likely draw a larger than usual crowd and some of us were asked to bring a little extra food for the potluck afterwards), took Nelson to the dog park and even stopped at a bar down the street where a friend was playing yesterday, so’s I went to bed tahred. I’ll get purtified in a bit and head to Nashville.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I foresee cleaning and football(with some hockey) today. Life is good.

Also, is a Kryptonian pickpocket The Man of Steal?

Only a $100k bar tab? Slacker.

Nut, maybe you could comb the holes out of the melted wax?;)

Update on DH: he reports that he has now made the short trek from bed to bathroom twice, on his feet. Hopefully, this means he can come home today, but we don’t know about that yet. Either way, I’ll probably need to take tomorrow off irk. This “weekend” has been short on sleep and long on adrenaline.

Our favorite server wasn’t working at the Barrel today, and the one we got definitely won’t ever make favorite. For whatever reason, she decided to bitch to us about how many people called out today and how she got stuck with tables in 2 sections and how someone in the front dining room was complaining about the lack of servers… I really hate when servers share too much - when I go out to eat, I’m there to be with my dining companion(s) not to socialize with the server. When they go beyond a few pleasantries in addition to doing their job, I tend to become irate - and I tip less because of that. I’m not a snob - I just don’t want a personal relationship with the person who’s supposed to be bringing my breakfast.

OK, now that that’s out of my system…

First load in the washer, one more to go. Still not sure what I’ll do today. Tho I do fear I’ll have to close the house and turn on the air for a bit if it gets too warm. I’m done with summer, dammit!!!

Great news about DH there Nettie.

I finally gave Buddy his first bath and he didn’t care too much for it but he did get the zoomies after.

I have a ton of laundry today. Hubby is preparing for his shock treatment tomorrow (on his heart). His good friend Dave is coming down to take him. I feel weird not going but he assures me there is no need. He will be released after a couple hours. So I shall go to irk.

Happy Sunday all!

Glad to hear DH is doing well, Nettie.

FCM, I don’t go to one place often enough to have a favorite server, but like you, those that want to gab and tell me their problems tend to rile me.

Nut, happy cleanup! :cool::stuck_out_tongue:

Slept until almost 9am and then lunged about until nearly 10. Am currently watering the front lawn (well, the sprinkler is) and probably watch some tackleball about noontime. Otherwise some minor kitchen cleaning is all that is on the agenda.

Happy Sunday!

Was chilly this morning, now is warming up.
Spent a long morning at the park. I’m glad I hung out longer than usual as Ripple got to see two friends he hasn’t seen for some time.
I think that when I retire I will just set up camp at the park.

I need to do some laundry today, but don’t know if it will happen.
I feel like being lazy, although I am scheduled to irk later tonight.

I’m thinking that a nap sounds good right about now.

I hope all goes well with your hubbie Butters.
And also with your DH Nettie
Sorry about your friend MetalMouse.

Haven’t told my son anything yet Shady.
I think I will just bring her home and plop her into his lap.

I think her name will be Echo.
Ripple and Echo kind of go together.
I’ll know better after I see her.

I’m hoping Ripple learns to enjoy the water tomorrow night Red
The pool plunges are certainly fun.

It’s supposed to warm up into the 90s again this week, so I may take him down to the creek one day and see if he likes that better.
