A bleary eyed MMP

**sari **- that’s one *keyooootie *pup!! Hope she and Ripple get along.

We had pizza delivered for supper, and we had Roxy while SIL took Daughter out for birthday sushi. The kidlet just crashed - she seems to go from 900 MPH to unconscious in the snap of a finger!

I’m going into the office for about 3 hours tomorrow. Tim’s project is close to being behind schedule and there’s an air of desperation, so I told the boss I’d do whatever hours it takes. Because I’m a dedicated professional, dammit!

But for the rest of tonight, I shall chill.

I’ve been using my old MacBook Pro, though I have a new one as well. I was using the new one for work today; so when the old one had an update pop-up, I decided to do it. Of course, I backed it up first. Upon restart, I got a ‘slashed circle’. I looked it up and it said that I had a Mac OS, but it’s not compatible with my computer. Why the hell would they allow me to attempt to install an incompatible update? I tried to restore from the backup, but it didn’t work. I’ll need to take it to the Mac store tomorrow. Fortunately, I save my important files to iCloud. (The new computer needs to be configured to that Mail works.)

Mrs. L.A. and I split a large calzone for dinner. I ate half of my half, and had two glasses of wine (plus a little Mrs. L.A. didn’t eat). I’m feeling the alcohol.

You’d be digging with your hands?
The joke concerns twin boys of five or six. Worried that the boys had developed extreme personalities – one was a total pessimist, the other a total optimist – their parents took them to a psychiatrist.”

“First the psychiatrist treated the pessimist. Trying to brighten his outlook, the psychiatrist took him to a room piled to the ceiling with brand-new toys. But instead of yelping with delight, the little boy burst into tears. ‘What’s the matter?’ the psychiatrist asked, baffled. ‘Don’t you want to play with any of the toys?’ ‘Yes,’ the little boy bawled, ‘but if I did I’d only break them.’”

“Next the psychiatrist treated the optimist. Trying to dampen his out look, the psychiatrist took him to a room piled to the ceiling with horse manure. But instead of wrinkling his nose in disgust, the optimist emitted just the yelp of delight the psychiatrist had been hoping to hear from his brother, the pessimist. Then he clambered to the top of the pile, dropped to his knees, and began gleefully digging out scoop after scoop with his bare hands. ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ the psychiatrist asked, just as baffled by the optimist as he had been by the pessimist. ‘With all this manure,’ the little boy replied, beaming, ‘there must be a pony in here somewhere!’”
Went to see the Marvel exhibit after irk.

OK, so now I’m having a sugar-free peach sparkling water (artificial sweetener) and Trader Joe’s vodka. I may not be conscious much longer…

Evening all. Had soccer practice with the girls and in (for me) a very rare occurrence, I lost my temper and bawled them out–quite loudly. There are 13 girls between 10-11 years old with only me to coach and they act…well, like 10-11 year old girls. They did behave better after my explosion, and when I apologized to several parents who were there for yelling at their daughters, the consensus was “What took you so long?”

Three games tomorrow, two of them in the afternoon 90F heat. Sunday will indeed be a day of rest.

Sari, echo Bumba’s ‘awwwwww’. Hope son and resident pooch adjust.

FCM, enjoy the overtime, you dedicated worker, you…

Nettie, hope DH is Ok.

Bumba, thanks for the explanation.

All y’all take care.

Any of y’all who are FB friends with me and don’t check very often, DON’T open anything in messenger from me. I’ve been hacked.

Worked. Went out to a whiskey bar, my friend was having a birthday party. Plus one of the players showed up, so nice bonus.

:o [sub]oops[/sub]

Nettie, hope DH is gonna be OK.

sari, PUPPAH!!!OMFGPONIES.

Cute puppy Sari. Nettie here’s hoping for a speedy recovery. mmmooooo and you are a nice dedicated professional, dammit. Red I thought I remembered you and Dogiooo getting to meet.

Tahred and sleepy and hungry…TGIF

I should read the other things people have posted and maybe stall, for the top of the next page -------- but I am slightly intoxicated.

Clocked out for the last time at 9:02 and then went to the Local Bar with a few friends. A few more friends showed up to congratulate me including several who got sent to the puppy farm months ago. I really was very nice. The first time I had to leave there I was almost in tears; this time I’m all smiles. Last time I was leaving a great place; this time I am leaving a place to enter a great place ------ probably. The next couple MMPs will tell the tale.

No to sleep a bit and then get up at 6am and teach hunter ed ------------- what was I thinking?

DH managed to break both bones in his lower right leg. Surgical attention is needed tomorrow.

Or leave it for me.

It could be worse - he’s a hooman, not a horse.
Good luck (is that what you’re supposed to say?) in surgery!

Well, ‘break a leg’ would be somewhat redundant. Hope all goes well Nettie.
Got today and next weekend, then I’m gonna be dropping this cleaning job (well, I’ll be doing some holidays and stuff). I’m looking forward to having Saturdays free, as well as having a change of drama.

I think I’m irking with my least favourite co-irker today, bleh. Bossy, huge ego and no concept of work appropriate anything (conversation, clothing… has been known to show up in heels she can’t do any irk in).

Sari, a certain cute puppy requires snuggles. So does her soon-to-be big brother.

So, the long version of my day, which was normal (by my apparently rather low standards) until about 1100. At this point, great-grandboss (head honcho of the site, biggest wig in the building) appeared beside me and told me to go aux as soon as I finish my current call. Then she stood there next to me while I was finishing said call. This made me very nervous, since this is the last person in the building I want to make a mistake in front of, and if she’s wanting me to aux out, I can’t help thinking I am in HUGE trouble, but cannot think of what I might have done to merit her attention and not someone lower on the food chain.

Once I was off my call, she informed me DH called to notify me of a workplace injury. She told me to check in with him, then update her, then she escorted me to security to retrieve my phone (phones must either be left in vehicles or surrendered to security on arrival to be held until end of workday departure). Check in with DH, find out he’s at the hospital with a broken leg. One of his higher-ups kindly volunteered to come fetch me. I was unable to directly update great-grandboss, since her office door was closed by that point (this is a “only disturb in emergency” signal), but I made sure to tell my direct sup and grandboss as much as I knew at that point and asked them to let great-grandboss know.

Lots of “hurry up and wait” in ER. DH had gotten there around 1100-ish. After retrieving our car and having navigation problems, I arrived ca. 1245. By the time I finally got home for the night, after midnight, he had still not been assigned an actual room, but was in an observation area. Surgery is planned for tomorrow morning and will involve a metal rod in the leg, per orthopedist.

I have been assured by DH’s honcho that medical bills are covered and DH will have normal income during the recuperation period. He’s probably going to be a colossal PITA for the next six weeks or so, but coping will happen somehow. I don’t know how well I’ll sleep tonight, and as stressed as I am, Mel is not a good option (probability of nightmares, and I have enough anxiety right now, TYVM). Not sure I’ll be able to let my guard down enough to sleep, being here alone (not at all used to it, have never lived alone). I do need some rest, since I’m firing on so few mental cylinders right now that I’m pulling really stupid mistakes, like trying to return to the hospital minus the bag of DH stuff I was going there to deliver, being stumped by a door that just needed to have the handle turned, or freaking out about possible car trouble after getting fuel. Turns out that actually starting the engine helps a great deal.

Yes, the Princess is a bit agitated, between the royal supper being over 3 hours late and a borderline-frantic servant rushing about. At least the bird is her usual calm self (nothing seems to bother her, except laser pointers).

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Double shift today, but today is also my Firday.

Nettie, glad DH, is covered.

Ruble, I can’t wait to hear your tales.

**{{{Nettie}}} **- deep, cleansing breaths, sweetie! There’s nothing here you can’t handle - one at a time, and write yourself reminder notes if necessary. The surgery will go fine and you’ll deal with the recovery period one day at a time. Don’t sweat the little stuff, and come here to whine and get hugs as much as you need.

Yeah, I know it’s easy for me to say this stuff, but really, it’s not one huge situation - it’s a series of small events that you can manage. And I do think your mega-boss could have handled it better…

I just had a weird, weird night. It’s gloriously cool, so the windows are all open and I heard kids out playing - in the dark!!!   I was dozing off, just barely asleep, when I heard a loud noise and looked out the window next to my side of the bed to see what seemed to be a bright red tail light of a vehicle. My brain immediately went to “Was there an accident on Redwood??”

Redwood is the road that paralleled the road where I grew up - my brain had me sleeping in the bedroom of the house I left 46 years ago, looking out a window that I couldn’t have seen from my bed. I woke enough to realize where I was, sorta, but I was still thinking I was looking across the back yard to the property behind us when, in fact, I was looking at the driveway of the house next door. I don’t know if the kid noise was coming from there or somewhere else in the neighborhood, but it continued till around 11.

I finally drifted off some time after midnight only to have a series of really inane dreams:

 • **FCD **buying a $200K boat

 • my brother borrowing my veggie steamer to use as an ice maker in his car

 • the bin from our actual ice maker going missing, so ice was falling all over the place

 • **FCD **buying and trying to install storm windows and screens, ignoring the 3-pane insulated windows we installed 9 years ago

In between the assorted scenarios, I kept waking up. All told, I don’t know if I got 5 hours of sleep, but a bit after 6, I just gave up and got up. I’ve ingested leftover pizza for breakfast and I’m caffeinating. Once I finish my morning surfing, etc, I’m going into the office for about 3 hours. Hope I can stay awake.

Oh, yeah, and I forgot to turn off the countertop ice maker before I went to bed. **FCD **apparently just unplugged it, so this morning, there was still some ice, but a lot of water in the reservoir. I dumped what ice survived into the freezer bin, scooped out the excess water, and restarted the thing. It just made the first batch of ice. Later today, I need to empty it and clean it. For now, I need caffeine.

Happy Saturday!

Nettie, I’m sure the operation will go well and DH should be out by Moanday I would think. Glad you are covered.

Moooommm, I very seldom remember my dreams…given your examples, that’s probably a good thing…

ruble, I’ll miss the dsyfunctional stories, but for you, I hope the new job brings you more peace of mind.

7am and need to get dressed and organized for the soccer games today. All y’all take care.

My horse got shot, so I had to break its leg.

nettie, here’s hoping that everything goes smoothly with the surgery and your hubby is home pestering you to death soon.

Like metal mouse, I rarely remember dreams. However, I had one that was almost Mooooom-worthy last night. I dreamed that the Stanley Steamer guy was here to clean the carpet and I caught him messing around with my new desktop, saying that he just wanted to tweak it for me.

Speaking of tech, I will be shopping for a new tablet today. My old one finally went belly up (blue screen at all times). I can’t complain about it. It’s about 10-12 years old and was actually my primary internet connection for a couple of years. The list thus far in the past 1.5 years:

-new TV when the old one died
-new car when the old one was totaled (tech in the way that going from the Flintstones to the Jetsons is)
-new electronic die cutter
-new desktop
-new phone
and shortly a new tablet.

So far almost everything electronic in my home has been replaced in the three years that I’ve lived here.

Got home, turned on the TV, and the final part of the 1970’s king Kong is on. It was the least good of the three versions, but watching it now is bittersweet, seeing the World Trade Center the Kong climbs.

I remember when the movie came out. There was an article in the paper showing employees of the Empire State Building, wearing gorilla suits, doing a protest that the ape went up the WTC. They passed out bannanas if I remember correctly.

I just saw something on YouTube this morning, on how people accidentally save their own lives. Seth MacFarlane partied too hard the night before and missed his airplane flight, one of the ones that was hijacked.

9/11 is coming up and I remember it for that, and that on9/12, in 2014, my dad was killed.

Yep.I’m in a real down mood today.

Reminded me of a Larry the Cable Guy bit:

*My sister’s horse broke its leg, so I shot it. Now it’s got a broke leg and a gunshot wound.

Home from 3.5 hours of office productivity! I finished all of Tim’s drawings, including 2 that he’d sent back for minor changes. I also did updates/corrections on a bunch of Brent’s drawings and did a good bit of work on another drawing he’d asked for last week. So when I go in on Tuesday, I’ve got a few things to do and I’ve already talked to Tim about the next batch of stuff he’ll have for me. Next payday will be an extra-nice one!

I’ve got a nice butt <snerk> in the slo-cooker with some diced onions and Sonny’s Sweet BBQ Sauce. Supper will be pulled poke, and I’ll have enough left over for at least 1 more meal - possibly 2. Meanwhile, it smells yummerrific in here!!

Higgs’ blanket is in the wash - it’ll go out on the lines when it’s done. I washed the dishes this morning, and when I came home, they’d been put away, so yay! I got a replacement light bulb at Lowe’s and some blueberries at Aldi. What a productive day!
