I have been MIA for 2 weeks of fab-u-lous vacation. My sister and her bf came over to CA and we partied liked rock stars for two weeks of wine tasting, beaches, mountains, national parks, big trees and Vegas. It was great.
And today is packing day. Movers are here wrapping everything I own in paper and putting it in boxes.
Passport applications are on the way to the magical land of passports. I had to have my photo retaken because the one I’d brought had a big shiny spot on my forehead and the guy said it looked like a birthmark or something. So he retook it, and I had to get WalMart to refund the cost of the reject. We should get the passports back in 6-8 weeks - plenty of time before January. So yay. The only bad part of the evolution was another couple wanting passports got there right before we did and it took them a freekin’ half an hour to tend to their stuff. The clerk was way too chatty, IMHO.
Next, we grabbed a quick late lunch, then ran by WalMart to pick up daughter’s birthday present, get the aforementioned refund, and get a gallon of milk. On the way back from the milk department, *someone *saw a display of orange creamsicle Oreos, so some of those came home with us.
I fed the critters, and **FCD **is doing a water change on the aquarium. I think that’s as productive as we’ll be tonight. He’ll go back to work tomorrow, and I can get some stuff done around here at last. Just hope I can sleep thru the night - my stoopit dreams are really messing up my snoozy time.
Howdy Y’all! Home from irk and awaitin’ dindin. OYKW is swipin’ the General’s dindin. Poor General Tso. He never gets his chikin! It’s also cloudy out and rumbly off in the distance.
lieu got “dusty” durin’ your daughter’s performance did it?
Ok, gotta go do the feud then dindin should be here.
It’s still only Monday? Blah. Oh well, can’t say I have too much to complain about, and that’s really something if you know me. My weekend started off with happy hour on Thursday where a girlfriend and I met up at a Mexican restaurant for dinner and half-price margaritas. Yummm. Friday after irk I got my hairs cut and I am just thrilled with the results. I finally have a haircut that works with my naturally wavy/curly hair. Plus, my stylist actually showed me how to, you know, *style * it, so while it of course does not look as good as fresh from the salon it’s not half bad if I do say so myself. Saturday morning I went to the art museum with the same friend from Thursday night, followed by a nice long nap Saturday afternoon and going out with the husband and some friends that evening. Spent almost all day with my mama yesterday, helped her clean out her fridge and she gave me some babies off her spider plant, one of which is here at home and the other I took to irk today.
This morning started off with me mad at myself for sleeping in instead of exercising and losing a contact lens in the floor. As soon as I was out of work I had to call my pharmacy about an order that got screwed up- looks like I will be out of a prescription medication for about two weeks. Luckily for me it’s nothing life-threatening but still a pain in the behind. Dinner was a formerly-frozen pizza because I was so tired and cranky by the time I got home but now my irk week is 1/5 of the way over and I’m pretty sure I’ve earned a glass of wine tonight so that should make everything allll better.
I have two original FCM creations that are holding rubber bands. I started collecting rubber bands when my niece wanted to make a large ball of rubber bands. I’m not sure she ever did that, but I still have some. Given the number of FCM-created items that are currently holding paper clips, I believe my ceramics (one has a lid, the other is a cute little basket) are destined to be repurposed.
Today was Monday. Meetings meetings meetings then about an hour where I could actually get work done without being interrupted. I cheated and got work done in a couple of the meetings. Thank heavens for laptops.
We weeded and trimmed stuff (OK, my brother weeded - a lot; I trimmed and pruned just a bit) and then went for a walk. Dinner was Cheerios with blueberries. It hit the spot.
I’m tired, so I’ll read for a bit then…off to sleep.
Sigh…sometimes I just don’t understand people. We’ve had “drama” among a couple of our friends, who ended up breaking it off with each other. During the first couple weeks of the break-up, A (the male) kept texting G (the female) telling her he was sorry; not to give up on him, and finally two weekends ago, he got her to stay the night and told her he loved her. They had been together three years.
Anyway, A went off to a reunion where he “reconnected” with someone. They are now in a relationship, which he proudly posted on FB.
Yeah, he basically used G to dogsit his dog while he went to go fuck his brains out with this gal. Ugh, I am really disgusted with him right now. However, he’s been friends with my husband and I a long time, so I am keeping my mouth shut. I think that speaks volumes anyway.
He bought a motorcycle a couple of months ago. Two days before he left for the reunion, he bought a Porsche. Can you say mid-life crisis? God, he’s got it bad.
I love G like a sister, so I’m sure this is coloring my POV; but we knew A first. Even my son thinks A is acting like a total ass.
We’ve had annoyances with A in the past. It’s got to be all about A and always what he wants. When he doesn’t get his way, he gets pissy. We put up with it, because one has to learn to accept some of one’s friend’s foibles, but it had been getting worse in the last year. He’s done nice things for us, and I’m trying to remember that. I think I just need to stay away from him for awhile. Besides, I’m sure he’s too busy with his new “love”. She’ll soon find out how demanding and selfish she is. Good luck to her.
Bleh, I thought I left high school behind more than half a century ago.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 96 and a fifty percent chance of rain. Yestiddy it threatened to rain several times and never did. the thunder rumbles were entertainin’ however.
Taters some people just don’t grow up. The choice seems to be just love 'em or cut ‘em out of our lives. Here’s hopin’ things work out so you can remain friends with both.
Today is a half-day of irk for me. I get to come back to da cave and wait for a technician to show up between the hours of one and five p.m. Rah. Can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this, but I’m switchin’ phone, cable and internet over to one company. I kept waitin’ on ATT to get their UVerse cable out my way but it seems like never and the cable company’s deal will save me about sixty bucks a month. I’ve been hesitant but several people I know in da ‘hood have done it recently and tell me the service has been good. After it all gets done I get the pleasure of callin’ ATT to cancel DSL. The phone part is no problem to switch over and cable I already had with the cable company. I am supposed to have “lightnin’ fast” internet afterwards. We shall see.
Ok, now I go in search of more caffiene and some brekkie for a very rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Dang, Taters, what a major butthead!! Some children never grow up…
Speaking of up, I am. ugh. Terrible, non-restful night involving cats and a bunch of disjointed, nonsensical dreams. I was supposed to set the alarm for 5 for FCD, but I’d forgotten that on my last day, I’d reset it for 6 and never changed it back, so when he got up at 5:20, I was confused and ticked off at myself. Oh well, he’s off to work and I’ve got a load in the washer. I don’t think I’ll be hanging clothes out today - there’s threats of rain and I’ll be busy enough without watching the weather.
Busy today = mudding. If I get that done, I may start priming the wall in my studio. We’ll see how it all shakes out. Also this afternoon, a couple may be coming over to look at/purchase the headboard/footboard from the bedroom set. I’d rather sell the whole set, but we can make use of the dresser and nightstands, so why not break the set up? I also readvertised the roll top desk because the woman who came to look at it didn’t want it. We’ll see how Craig’s list does with it.
swampy, we have the bundled deal with our cable company and we’ve never had issues. It’s a great deal, for sure. Only thing is, if you lose power, you lose phone, unless you have a cell. But we hardly ever get calls, so we don’t even notice on the rare occasions that it happens.
Off to get a bowl of Cheerios and read the funnies before getting grubby. Good times!
MOOOOOOM if I lose power now I lose the cordless phones. I have a wall phone in my kitchen that will work however. Not that I worry about that. I do have a cell phone if necessary. I may be the only person left on the planet that wants a cell phone for calls and calls only. I’m kinda a Ludite that way. Also, since I am cheap, the savin’s alone make me want to do this.
Off to da Burg shortly to spend my mornin’. From thence it shall be back to da cave. When next I post, it shall be from my brand new “lightnin’ fast” cable intratoobz thingy!
Actually, swampster, I also think a cell phone exists for telephone calls - emergency telephone calls at that, which is why mine lives in the car. I don’t need to take pictures or surf the web or check my email or text with a phone. **FCD **uses his for work, and I kind of understand it, till he pulls the damned thing out while we’re dining and I get ignored…
Our contract is up in January, and I’m thinking of getting a pay-as-you-go-phone, especially now that I’m mostly at home anyway. My mom has a tracfone and she’s happy with it, so I’ll be checking that out. If **FCD **needs to keep his fancy-pants data plan and all that, so be it. I just want a basic phone for those just-in-case situations.
doggio- you’re doing this vacation thing wrong. You need to GO AWAY! FAR AWAY!! Heck, for your next vacation, come and crash in my guest room. Then irk can’t demand you come in.
So far, all I’ve accomplished is some laundry (3 loads), an empty dishwasher, one scrubbed toilet, and some vacuuming. I can’t start mudding till the window guys show up to replace the sash that failed. The windows are barely over a year old and the little grip part for raising the window came completely off the window in the guest room. For what we paid, these things shouldn’t be self-destructing already. But they’re under warranty and the replacement is on the way. Any time now… tick…tick…tick… (that’s the clock, not a blood-sucking insect)
I guess I’ll assume the knit position till they get here. Good times…
KT’s home sick with a cold, and I’m feeling unable to concentrate along with muscle soreness, although that could be from overdoing at PT yesterday. And lack of concentration could be from lack of sleep due to stress. Ugh. I wanna go home!
Taters, that drama should have been left behind. That sucks.
Glad you had a good vacation, mmmmmmms. Good luck with the move.
You know, if A would have been a man about the whole break-up, it would have been alright. We would have been and are sad, about the whole break up, but they weren’t married and it’s not our business. But sucking G back in and essentially using her is what hacks me off.
I won’t be giving up my friendship with either of them, although we haven’t seen A since before he left for the reunion. I don’t imagine we’ll see him for awhile. He’s more my husband’s friend anyway, and my husband thinks he’s being a dick, but has a “not my business” attitude about the whole thing.
Believe me, you got the very short, abridged version of the whole fiasco. There’s much, much more, but I’m not going to go into it.
I’m hoping the sun comes out today, but I don’t think it will.
swampy, good luck on the cable thing. IME AT&T’s customer service is second only to Comcast for terribleness. And give us shirtless pics of the technician, if at all possible
MOOOOM, sounds like a busy day already!
lieu, good that everything went well, but children’s theatre can be just as entertaining when it goes awry, I think. My roommate is the lighting designer for the children’s theatre here and I love watching shows where funny accidental things happen.
My day? Well, I got put on the schedule for an evening shift tonight, which is kind of weird, but I do have TWO job interviews tomorrow - both part-time, one at an Internet café that is opening up (why?), and the other at the cafeteria at an airplane building company. All I wanted to do was find a job that uses my various qualifications, but at this point, I need whatever I can get. Off to go buy a pair of khakis!
