I might have a job already! Starts on Monday. It requires professional dress (a real rarity in the Valley), but other than that, it sounds good. Plus, it’s it’s 8 - 6 M-Th, 8 - 12 on Fri. I like that! Having Friday afternoons off would definitely be worth having to wear a suit every day. I’m supposed to hear back this afternoon. Keep your appendages crossed for me.
Yahoo!! Crossing appropriate (and inappropriate, I guess) appendages. Good luck!
That would be awesome, Jahdra! Hopefully it’ll be a great situation to go with great hours.
I was wondering about rigs myself yesterday. I think she was starting her new job right around now, so maybe she’s in end of school/transition to job. I was missing Drae earlier in the week too…
rosie: what they said. You really don’t sound like yourself… Hugs!
Hope everyone else who is feeling poorly is doing better.
Off to run errands then maybe do something in the garden.
Back later.
GT
Thank you all for your input. Of course I don’t sound like myself - I just had major surgery, and I am housebound for the next few weeks - that would depress anyone! But I will give it serious consideration. Thing is - by the time I am able to get out of the house to see anyone, I will probably feel (and sound) a lot more like the me you all know and love, so I won’t need any of that kind of help.
Bro just called - he’s on his way to the diner to pick us up some dinner.
FCM My dad has a Nordhavn that he likes to cruise about, but he’s pretty wimpy when it comes time to pull into the dock. Any wind will generally result in an hour or so of him going forward…baaaaaaack…forward…baaaaack!..forward…baaack!! (repeat). You really have to gun it in there, because otherwise you’ll just never get it in time with the wind moving you.
Zzzz…whta? I came home from work and fell asleep while reading the MMP(Y’all aren’t boring, I was just tired.) Work went OK, I had enough help for the truck ,so my back only hurts a little. I’m making catfish for dinner, then beerverages(no hockey tonight.
)
::waves at LiLi:: Glad Mom is coming by.
Enjoy the parental unit visit. taxi
SCL, have you checked YouTube, just in case? ::Runs off to search YouTube::
ems, I hope you enjoy your wedding!
But Ellen, you’re a hot 43-year old frumpy mom!
Rosie, I agree with the rest of the MMP. Go see the doc, so you can get better.
tashii, hope you get a job and home Intarweb Tube soon.
::crosses inappropriate appendages for Jahdra::
My husband lusts over Nordhavns something awful! You should see the drool stains on the magazine ads…
The big question is, does he drool more over the prospect of “appreciation” from you?
ACBG is here. Pizza and beerverages are about to be consumed. He brought pizza and beerverages with him. As soon as both are consumed and I perform the necessary JoeDawg nanny requirements, “appreciation” on my part shall ensue. Yay pizza which means no cookin’ and beerverages which are always welcome!
Nitey nite Y’all! (that means every damn one of ya, in case that ain’t clear.)
Like I’d share that info with you!

I got an offer in the mail today to get a mortgage on the property of my. . . . PO Box. Now if I could just squeeze my laptop in there with me, I’d be all set. They could feed me through the mail slot. It would be the smallest mortgage ever.
I went to my local Chamber of Commerce today to ask about things to do. She directed me to craigslist. And it’s not like she just mentioned it, she extolled the virtues of craigslist for a really long time. When I noted all the literature they have there, she seemed uninterested for the most part. So when I got home, I went to craigslist. And it’s as daffy as I remember it. . . people looking to have affairs, people writing in all caps, people claiming to be retired school teachers who can neither spell nor compose a decent sentence. Is there a trick to finding stuff there I’m not seeing?
Hello everyone. Dinner was nice.
I got most of the bonus room mucked out. I probably would have been done, but I started spot cleaning the stains where the kids had spilled their drinks. Before I knew it, it was time to go to dinner. Basically all that needs doing in there now is putting the folded laundry away.
Jahdra, I hope you get the job. All the appropriate appendages are crossed.
Well, I think I’m going do some dusting and such so there is won’t be so much to do tomorrow.
Ooooooobligatory durbnken post full of lurrrrrve!
A handful of us got sick of our theses and ended up playing drinking games. Damn stupid thesis. I swear I’m going to finish that sucker tomorrow. I’m actually pretty much finished - all I really need is a page or so of a conclusion.
Sweet dreams, everyone.
I’m awake, I’m tired and my throat hurts but I’m not sure if it’s from coughing or from too much singing last night as we watched/bounced/danced to the Mission. Excellent performance and very good fun but my feet were killing me by the end of it!
We decided to go for one last drink at the Posada and found that the new landlord has taken out our three favourite beers and put in three guest ales. Sacrilege! Anyway, we had a couple in there and then got a taxi home. 'im indoors decided to get a kebab which he then tried to eat when we got back but he kept having to fight Shadow off.
This morning I am up long before he will be, and I will be finishing off the baking ready for tomorrow.
Then I may have to make him a cup of tea and see if he appreciates me.
'Twas a night of dreams, the weirdest of which involved Bernie leaving and not coming back… and no one seemed to notice! But she hasn’t run off - she’s behind me, eating her foot. OK, chewing on her foot.
Speaking of Scruffy, who is looking more and more like her name every day, she doesn’t lick us. Ever!
I don’t know that I’ve ever encountered a dog that doesn’t lick. Brandy, our resident feline, however, is a licker. I live in a house full of weird animals, and it’s only going to get worse when Miss Cleo and the rodent move in with the kids.
Today will mostly be my day. After **FCD ** gets up and dressed, we’ve got to empty the van of my show stuff. Yesterday he parked the van down by the basement door, so that’ll be a fairly easy chore - just carry all the crap into my studio. Then he’ll load the van with boat crap and head down to the marina for the haulout. He’s taking the camera, so I’ll be able to post pics…
Once he’s gone, I’ve got a day of laundry and clay play planned. He made me pairs of sticks of 3 thicknesses that I can use to roll out slabs of clay for hand building. I’d love to get a slab roller, but the cheapies start around $500 - $600, so that ain’t gonna happen unless my works are suddenly in demand for lots of $$$$$. Yeah, right. Anyway, I’m going to roll out some slabs and do some hand-building, plus I’m going to throw a bunch of kitty-cat bodies and heads. At least that’s the plan.
Tomorrow will be the big furniture moving day. So sometime today I should probably sweep out the garage. I don’t think I want my furniture sitting in leaves and crud. In fact, we discussed dragging out a hunk of old carpet to set the mattresses on. If I’m organized enough, we’ll stack stuff out there in Keep-Sort-GetRidOf piles. And some things can go on closet shelves and won’t have to go outside, saving our backs just a wee bit. And starting Tuesday night, it all comes back in.
What I wouldn’t give about now for a band of buff young studs with strong backs and a stronger work ethic who will do good deeds for free. Is that too much to ask??
So begins my Saturday.
Incidentally, who has Monday??

FCM are you building an army of cyborg cats? doggio already has an army of cyborg lemurs. That’d make a good death match!
Ok, so today’s big plans are plantin’ more stuff around the church. Shrubbery and flowers to be exact. Or so I’m told. I’m beginning to feel like I’m leadin’ gt’s life.
As soon as my ears (eyes??) stop ringing (crossing??) I’ll thank **swampy ** for the reminder and say: Happy Tater Day!!!

Your eyes are ringing? Your ears are crossing? Wow, old age is some messed up stuff ain’t it!
I need to motivate! I need to get cleaned up so I can go get dirty… umm… that’s just weird! Still, I feel like I need to shower so I won’t offend even though I’ll need to shower again after I finish diggin’ in dirt. The things we do in the name of hygiene!
Wow, swampy, you are leading my life! Today I get to plant my share (4, maybe?) of about 80 containers at the park where I volunteer. Big fun!!
Sorry about your sore throat, BooFae.
Hee, Heff, I’m always getting re-financing and home equity loans for the mortgage held by Bank That Sold My Mortgage Ten Minutes After I Signed the Papers. It’s only been nearly 8 years. I think maybe 3 payments went to the old bank; not sure why they can’t come up with the new bank. It’s listed on the county auditor’s Web site. But P.O. Box? Really can’t beat that. Hee Hee.
Boat stuff sounds fascinating FCM. Probably because most of what I know about boats I’ve learned here.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Taters!!!

And hi rosie! Hope you’re feeling better today!
GT
Don’t worry, **swampy ** - you won’t melt no matter how many showers you take.
I’m up and caffeinating! And it’s Saturday!! I see FCM and Swampy have both beat me to posting … and probably in the caffeinating part too.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATERS!!!
It sounds like both FCM & Swampy have a lot planned for today, so hope that you both have a fruitful day. As for myself, I’ve got grocery shopping to do later on today and then I’m gonna watch the Preakness (go Street Sense!!); tomorrow I will get some impatiens and a couple of other shade-loving plants, some soil, and make some planters for my patio. I’ve tried growing herbs out there (hello, tarragon anyone? :)), but most of them need more sun then my patio provides, unfortunately. Any suggestions for shade-loving plants, GT? My patio faces west, but is shaded by some fairly large trees (pine); what little sun it does get is afternoon only. Impatiens and begonias have worked well for me in years past, btw. But I’m wondering if maybe there’s another flowering plant that I can try there.
I’ve been playing way too much of my computer games lately! laughs I got this one called “Big City Adventure: San Francisco” - it’s a puzzle game where you have to find objects; there are also little games between rounds, so it’s quite entertaining. I also caved finally and got the “Mystery Case File: Prime Suspect” game. Damn, some of those objects are so tricky to find!
Happy Saturday all!!
