A Brief History of Ratdom - AKA the MMP

I just got done downloading some more music into my I-Pod Nano. Now I’m waiting for the little message that tells me I can disconnect it.

Pretty soon I’ll be getting into the shower. I can’t believe it’s already 11:15. Where did my morning go?!

The hubbyis fixing to load up the truck for a dump run. That’s good. Last night’s party generated tons o’ trash. Plus, we have other stuff we’ve been wanting to take to the dump. One of the things we’re getting rid of is a bumper pool table. That’ll clear out the bonus room some. We’d try to give it away or sell it, but one of the pockets has a hole, so it’s trashed. Plus, that thing is waaaaaaaaaay old. It was at the in-laws for years, then when we moved here, my MIL offed it on us. Sigh…more crap. Anyway, as of today it’s gone.

Not much else going on. I do need to do some laundry so I have clothes to wear to work.

Afternoon, everyone.

I am miserably ill for most of the day, and will be going to the doctor on Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday. I’m screwing up my courage to go to work in an hour. I will not throw up at work. I will not.

Urk.

Oooh, LiLi, sorry to hear you’re feeling so miserable. How many weeks till you hit the second trimester? Hope work goes well. Or at least that you don’t get sick.

I’m taking a break from planting. Throwing a breakfast bread in the oven and then it’s back outside for 20 minutes to plant annuals under the trees. Then I’ll probably mow the lawn and call it a gardening day.

I’ve gotten lots of stuff cleared out, but there’s always lots more. My lilac is blooming beautifully. Gonna go take a pic right now. Once the perennials I’m planting this year are established, I think it’s gonna look extra cool.

Back later.

Okay, may I say that whoever decided allowing this attorney to present his patent appeal over a speakerphone, while throwing in such verbiage as “polycarbonate containing potassium perfluorobutane sulfonate and cyclic siloxane,” all delivered in a thick Indian accent, should be taken out and shot? I’ll be happy to volunteer for the duty if no one else wants it.

Urk indeed.

MamaTigs, if I had my way, speaker phones would be outlawed and whoever invented them would be flogged repeatedly with their sharp, pointy parts. If they don’t have sharp, pointy parts, we can sharpen them before the flogging begins.

Yeah, I have issues.

But I managed to break **FCD ** of calling me on his speaker phone. I hate having to listen to that echo-y effect. Stoopit speaker phones!

I did 2 loads of shirts/socks/misc plus I washed our electric blanket. Both spare room closets are crammed full of stuff. I’ve got 3 boxes of miscellany sitting on the counter waiting to be sorted. First I’ll feed the critters, then I’ll start sorting - keep/donate/trash. I’m hoping for a lot of trash.

I’m a speakerphone hater, too. Papa Tigs has one that he uses for conference calls here at home, and it makes me INSANE to listen to all that noise. Even being paid for it does not change the fact that it turns everyone’s words into electronic hash, at best. I’ve insisted he not use his speakerphone at work to call me, too, because I really, really hate the thought that who knows who could be listening at the other end and it just totally creeps me out.

And don’t even get me started about the young attorney who worked across the hall from me at one law firm who thought it made her seem more important and busy to do ALL her outgoing telephoning via speakerphone. I had to complain to HR to at least get them to shut her *&@#$ door so I could hear myself THINK over her. Aargh!

Speakerphones are an instrument of satan. Can I get an AMEN brothers and sisters!

I cleaned the pool then relaxated for a bit in it. It feels good on my healing but still sore knees. The water is coolish though. Today’s temp was 74 Amurrkin which would be warm if it was 90ish outside but it’s low 80s so it feels cool still. I don’t have a heater in the pool, so I depend on sun to warm the water. Feels good though to me.

JoeDawg is having dindin right now. After that I shall once again insist he go back to his strict regimen I have adopted for him. He will have both sofa and lap time. I hate bein’ so tough but if I don’t enforce strict discipline he might get spoiled.

ETA: Who’s doing tomorrow’s MMP?

Getting the house ready to paint is almost like moving again, though not quite as filled with Suck, because we’re only putting things out of sight, and taking things off walls, and not having to PACK them.

At least I don’t have to do actual painting, we hired people because I chose to be un-cheap, and lazy.

Ditto the hating speakerphones, they are the Devil’s tool.

**swampy ** - maybe **Joe Dawg ** should do the MMP tomorrow? I believe we should get **his ** side of the story…

Dinner has been et - salmon, peas-n-carrots, cheese biscuits. **FCD ** is rinsing the dishes and I’m about to go load the dishwasher and get it started. We’ll have some ice cream later.

I’ve got a short week coming up - I’m taking Friday off to have an extra-long long weekend. Much of the weekend will be spent painting the boat and helping to install the thru-hull fittings. I’ve been regaled with tales of the insane way the previous owner configured the plumbing in this boat. I swear, I’m amazed the thing didn’t sink! Apparently, at least one of the valves he used to keep water out of the people tank was a *gas * valve - probably from a propane system. We’ve got 5 brand new shiny bronze assemblies with ball valves - my sweetie knows how to do it right!

Off to load the dishwasher…

According to JoeDawg, I don’t do anything fast enough. He runs to the door, turns around and snorts at me as if to say, “Christmas comes sooner than you human!” He stands impatiently while dindin is being prepared. The whole two minutes it takes me to open the can, plop it into his bowl and mush it up is an eternity! He makes little barky/growly sounds at me when he hears the rattle of the treat bag. The ten seconds it takes for me to break apart a treat is longer than all of recorded history! Ear skritches are woefully inadequate. No one has ever been slower to wash and fill up a water bowl even if a drink of water is not required at the time. The idea that it is being handled elicits grunts and snorts such as have never been heard! Oh and getting up at night to go pee is the most egregious thing ever because sleep is disturbed!

That’s the gist of what a JoeDawg MMP would be like.

Well, I didn’t get any cleaning done. I’m a slacker. I even took a nap. But - I went to the grocery store, and packed up bulk quantities of meat into smaller packages. And did three loads of laundry, which are all folded and put away. Yay!

Ribs are cooking, the beans are ready for baking, corn on the cob is shucked and awaiting boiling, and cole slaw is in the fridge.

See ya manana!

ETA: Ooh, I’m first on the page!

Well, shucks, **swampy ** - you coulda posted that early tomorrow and started us off in style.

Fine. I’ll post something in the morning before I leave. It’s late, so I make no promises.

Happy??

:stuck_out_tongue:

AIR, you owe us tales of your latest craft fair anyways, So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

In fact, it’s written - took all of 10 minutes or so. I’m pretty sure Joe Dawg woulda done better.

It’ll be posted about 5-ish in the morning. And it has nothing to do with the craft show… there was not much to tell there.

That doesn’t mean we still don’t wanna know!

Get up early tomorrow and find out, oh Ursine One!

And I’m off to spend the rest of the evening with my feet up knitting. Which I’ve actually been doing since suppertime, but I figured I should probably shut the 'puter down. Mañana, everybody!

Exciting day for me. I ent to church, napped, and watched hockey. Now I am having beerverages before bed.

swampy, JoeDawg is a demanding little cuss. Maggie Wonderbeagle just would like more fish and pizza, and less screaming during hockey season.

BioTigs, at leat you arn’t doing Miss Othmar from Peanuts: “waaawaa waawaawaa wwaa waa”

Laundry out of the dryer and put away, mostly. It’s after my bedtime, so…off to bed.
