A Brief History of Ratdom - AKA the MMP

Home again, naturally. Maggie has been walked and fed, and so am I. I am going to do a quick surf n’ brew, then bed time. I noticed that the MMP is well represented in the “would anyone miss me” thread. (we miss you, **ex. scout. bumba. meeks, and everyone else!)

Tootles!

Eyes le servant des chien Hey…I just noticed you. You new here…?

Nava seems to be poofed this week, though. (Probably I missed something in last week’s MMP which explained this.)

Bad joke:

I. am. so. close. to. finishing. this. stupid. thesis.

ONE MORE PARAGRAPH, and that sucker is pwned. (and then I’ll have a sea of editing to swim through, but that’s another story.)

I swear I’m not going to post on the SDMB until this godforsaken paper is completely over and done with. That’ll probably be Sunday night. Wish me luck, my friends, and have a lovely Sunday!

Happy Tater Day!

Last night we had a surprise invite to go and join some friends at the pub…so off we went, and beerverages were consumed. Not many for me though, I was being sensible for once 'cos I knew I had to be up early today and I have cakes to sell for charity. Woohoo!

'im indoors is still sleeping off the many-more-pints-than-me that he got through last night so I’ll have to try and find some way of getting him out of bed soon 'cos we need to be leaving for the river. Today there’s a dragonboating event that we’re off to, armed with a large quantity of cakes to sell as part of the fundraising for our Run For Home team.

Weather’s fine and sunny, which is a bonus, and I am hangover-less which is even more of a bonus 'cos I’m driving!

Have I ever mentioned that Scruffy is weird? Because she is. To her, shoes mean “outside” and that’s a cue to bark. Which is annoying enough under normal circumstances, but early in the morning when I’m trying to get out of the bedroom quietly so my sweetie can sleep in, well, it goes beyond annoying.

She’s not too smart, either - she doesn’t seem to get the clothes part of the formula. It doesn’t matter if I’m fully clad, partially clad, or fully nekkid - if I touch a piece of footwear, her barker goes off. Which is what happened at 6:25 this AM. Goofball.

The critters have been walked and fed and **FCD ** is sleeping again. He wants to go to breakfast this morning - big surprise! Then he’ll go to the boat and I’ll come home and start emptying bedroom crap. If I’m lucky, I’ll get some studio time, too. And laundry is up there on the list, but really, that’s an easy chore - the machines do most of the work. So today should be a fairly easy day.

Hope it’s pleasant for all of you, too.

Incidentally, speaking of the boat, you need to know that if you find yourself in my part of the country during sailing season, you are *most * welcome to join us on the water. It’s so beautiful in the Patuxent River and on the Chesapeake Bay… So file that away when you make vacation plans.

FCM, why are you running around naked? Is it bacon time at Fairy Chat Estates?

I am up and caffeinated, gonna run out to church in a bit, then come home and goof off.

I had just gotten out of bed and I wasn’t running - I was kinda shuffling my way to find my robe and slippers. Think Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett Show when he was playing the little old man…

And it wouldn’t matter if I did bacon nekkid - I nuke it.

Hmmmmm, Sunday morning, and we’re already nekkid. I’m so proud.

You’d better not be reading this unless your thesis is done, Hank!!! ::Looks sternly in the direction of Chicago::

Nava was going home for some family celebrations, I think, OWWO. I guess she hasn’t had time to post.

Hope you had a successful sale, BooFae.

Hi rosie!

I’ve only been up for a little while. Got to bed at a decent hour, slept awhile, then was wide awake for a couple hours.

It’s supposed to rain at some point today. Boo. Hopefully, it won’t overlap with the time I want to be outside planting stuff.

On the other hand, there’s no shortage of stuff to clean up, organize, etc. Off to organize laundry (I already have a loan in the washer) and sort recycling, then it’s off to church.

GT

Interesting gt I’ve never thought of my washin’ machine as a place to go for a loan. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been up quite a while and am well caffienated. Shortly I shall commence purtification in preparation for church. I’m wantin’ to get there earlier this mornin’ to check on how the stuff that got planted looks. I may end up hangin’ around a while and waterin’ some stuff. Even with our water restrictions, it’s ok to water newly planted stuff more frequently and well, there’s some bucks in all those plants and trees.

Happy Sunday everybody!

Haze if you’re reading this, stop that this instant young lady! Get back to work! That thesis is not gonna finish itself you know. Don’t give me that look! You march right back in there and get busy and don’t you come out until you’re finished! I mean it!

We’re getting ready to head out for breakfast, as soon as *someone * finishes loading stuff in the van. Then we’ll part ways and I’ll come home for a day of laundry and tidying and maybe some studio time. It looks kinda dreary out there right now, but the forecast calls for hitting 80, so I’m assuming it’ll get sunny eventually.

So off I go…

Mom!!! He’s picking on me!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not sufficiently caffeinated.

GT

Morning, all. <yawn> I had such a boring day yesterday I couldn’t think of a blessed thing to post except that I was here. So I just read you all’s [del]barely[/del] [del]somewhat[/del] much more interesting posts instead.

It was even such a boring day that I crawled in bed way early for me and sat there knitting for a long time with the cat on my lap and my iPod playing in my ears. Emily and I had a lovely cuddle; she positively melted on my lap. How can cats turn their bones to water when they want to be truly cozy? I don’t know how they do it, but they sure do.

The only exciting news is that my knitting is finally producing results: I think I’m finally getting the hang of knitted lace! I’m working on a really pretty pattern, and using that single strand of lace-weight yarn (which is about double the thickness of sewing thread), and it’s turning out to look like what it’s actually supposed to look like. So I’m very pleased. I have several other patterns I’m anxious to try out right behind this one, in various weights of yarn, so we shall see. Who knows, FCM, maybe I can get a bunch of pretty stuff knitted up and join you at a craft show one day, just for fun!

The Idiots are apparently off at the beach this morning; the guys were all gone when Lapin Blanc and I both got up. It’s cool out and was grey when I got up but is now clearing, and it’s supposed to get up to 76° here. Should be a gorgeous day to enjoy the air. Lapin Blanc is still intensely confused by the concept that spring is more than a two-week period when everything leafs out and flowers and then it gets really, really hot really, really quickly; around here, it lasts for a couple months, and she’s still pleasantly shocked that it’s not gotten even remotely hot yet. We’ve actually had to turn on the AC for a few hours two separate times, and I even turned on the heat for a few hours a couple days ago, but otherwise it’s perfect open-window weather. I’ve always loved spring and fall, and around here they can be properly enjoyed!

Okay, off to caffeinate some more and then get back to whittling away at the pile of many small jobs sitting here on my desk. I’ve got a couple big ones, too, but I have so many different small jobs that I had to make myself a workflow chart just to keep track of when it’s all due! So I’m trying to get back down to my usual number of, at most, 3-4. Not an exciting day, but being productive is always a good feeling. As is making $$!

Good morning!

Up and caffeinated and cooking bacon - no I’m not nekkid! Gonna do some laundry, and clean two bathrooms today. And probably vacuum the living room again. Those dogs are tearing up their toys and leaving little threads everywhere! And dried grass clippings, and dog hair…

BBQ’s babyback ribs for dinner. Gotta go to the grocery store, too.

Later, my peeps!

Back from breakfast and a quick stop at the grocery. I needed a few things and I was pleased to discover that Coke products were 4/$11 for 12-packs, so I got 4 assorted, and Turkey Hill ice cream was buy-one-get-one, so of course, I did. Plus boring stuff like paper napkins and fabric softener. First load is in the washer, second load on deck. Yesterday’s clay work is uncovered so it can dry a bit while I futz in the bedrooms, sorting and storing stuff. It’s sunny, a bit breezy, and it’ll warm nicely today, I think. So YAY!

**MamaTigs ** - you could do the show where we met - in Leonardtown in Sept. That gives you a few months to build up an inventory. hint-hint…

Just a couple of more minutes being a bum, then I’m getting to work. I *mean * it! :dubious: No, really…

Well, that was fun. I hit* “Submit Reply”* to the unmistakable sound of a cat horking. At least it’s easy to clean up when it’s just horked - it doesn’t have time to stain.

Stoopit cat - she doesn’t even look contrite.

I am back from church, and had breakfast. I was moshing to the beat of a different xylophonist, and had ham, egg, and salsa tacos for breakfast. The cat went berserk and assaulted the dog, who mooned the cat.

FCM, I’m afraid to hit “Submit” now, in case Lucretia hornks.

I think I’ll read the paper, nap, and buy dog food.

Good morning everyone! I’m up and drinking my go-juice.

Last’s night shindig was fun and a complete success. Everyone had a great time. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to wash my floor before one of these things. The floor will need washing again, as there a few “party fouls”. Thirteen people came over so things were noisy!

One of the folks who came over was an old childhood friend of mine and her husband. She lived next door to me from third through sixth grade. We were best friends who fought like the dickens. She had a twin and we three always hung out. Then she moved to California. She came back up north to visit a few times and we wrote to each other, but then lost touch. In our twenties we met up briefly and then she was gone. We met up once in our thirties and then she moved again. Now, she’s finally moved back here with her husband. We’ve been trying to get together for months, but between our schedules it just wasn’t possible. I’m so glad she came over. It was really nice to see her again.

My husband all of a sudden disappeared into the bedroom last night. He had a wee bit too much to drink. We checked on him and he was on the bed. When I went to go to the bed, he was sitting on the bathroom floor with his head resting on the toilet rim, sort of asleep. He never did hork, but I helped him back to bed.

I drank a bit last night, but somehow never even really caught a buzz. It was odd. I am TAHRED this morning though. I didn’t go to bed until 2:00 am. I got up at eight, even though I woke up initially at 5:00, then 6:00, and then 7:00. I should have just gotten out of bed the first time I woke up.

Today my MIL is taking is us out to dinner to celebrate my birthday.

Ooh! I got a nice birthday present from the hubby yesterday. He got me an I-pod Nano. I have plans to download a few CDs onto it and some more songs. I’ve already got 123 songs on it, but that’s because 122 were songs my daughter had on the PC. I liked most of them, but some of them were kind of “eh”. I also bought one Stevie Ray Vaughan song. I love STevie Ray Vaughan’s blues music.

You all with your flower planting, house cleaning, etc need to stop working and RELAX! You’re making me look bad!

Just had some lasagna and carrots for lunch. Now it’s down to throw in a load (see, swampy: load! :p) of laundry then outside to garden some more and mow before it rains.

No cats, so no cat hork here.

Glad your party went well, Taters.

Back later.

GT

No cat hornk here, either. But we did have dog hornk yesterday. Idiot Rusty got carsick when Papa Tigs took him out before breakfast. He actually does better with food in his tummy and doesn’t get carsick then. Stoopid dog.

The party sounds fun, Taters! And that reminded me that I did forget one fun thing that happened Friday. My cell phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number, but when I answered, it was an old friend of mine from when I lived in Lalaland back in the early '90s! We figured out it’s been about 14 years since we law saw each other, although I think we did talk by phone or email once or twice a couple years later; but we’ve been out of touch forever. She lives in Joisey, so she’s practically my neighbor. So now we’re back in touch. And each horrified by how old are kids have gotten. Amazing how that works.

September may be too soon, FCM, unless I plan to knit up some “quick and dirty” stuff – you know, scarfs knit on giant needles with fuzzy yarn that cost about $1 in materials and take half an hour to knit. Come to think of it, I should probably do some of that. I should also get fabric and use my lovely serger to do some easy things like tote bags, placemats & napkins, etc. But I’d like to have a few really lovely things that I can, obviously, charge through the moon for because they clearly require a lot of work, like some pretty knitted lace shawls/scarves/felted bags. Anyway, it’s a definite idea and could be a lot of fun. Time to start building up inventory!

The Idiots came home from the beach, ate breakfast, and are down for the count for the rest of the day. That’s the good thing about taking them swimming, they wear themselves out so much they’re just canine vegetables for at least one full day afterwards. Dog beaches are a brilliant invention, have I mentioned?

Back to work. Patent appeals. Technical crap. Oy.

I, too have a load :stuck_out_tongue: of laundry goin’ at the moment. It’s stuff I icked up diggin’ in dirt plus a few other everyday around the house wear things. After that it’s towels.

We had lunch at a local hot spot for after church lunch called Aunt Fanny’s. For some reason we don’t go there often and I don’t know why cause it’s always good. Today I had chicken ‘n dressin’, collards, field peas, cornbread and iced tea. I am full! I need a nap.

It’s also nice and warm out, so maybe some pool time is called for. Oh and I’m continuing my strict regimine with JoeDawg. He has had to endure treats, sofa and lap time and stretching out in the sun in the back yard so far. I sure hope his daddy appreciates all this discipline I am instillin’ in his child.
