My daughter brought us dinner tonight. She was lamenting on Facebook that she was really, really, really wanted a cheeseburger. I regretfully told her that I had just gotten home and didn’t feel like going back out, so she took it upon herself to get burgers and fries for all of us. Works for me; I didn’t have to cook and now I can kick back.
If I was to use my time wisely, I’d start putting decorations out. Eh, maybe Friday.

Uneventful evening, I cooked a huge coley fillet and shared it with Shadow (largely because he was stalking me and then spent 10mins camped out in front of the oven door while the fish was baking). He was very lucky because instead of a few scraps, this time he got his own plate of fish so he was a very happy cat. Ophie had a look at it and turned her little pink nose up, so she didn’t get any fish but that’s not so bad since the vet said she was turning into a bit of a porker,
Tonight will be groceries and Chinese and tomorrow 'im indoors is off for an xmas gathering of his ex-workmates from a job about 20yrs ago. He’s promised to stay overnight so I am happy with that idea. I get the bed to myself! The weekend will be busy, I am picking up half a Christmas cake on Saturday (I’m sharing with a friend because neither of us wants an entire cake and she had a recipe she was desperate to try) so that will need to be marchpaned, and I am planning to make some baked mincemeat doughnuts too. Then there’s presents to wrap, cards to write and stuff to sort out.
Dinner today with The Usual Suspects. We haven’t decided where, yet, and have two different reservations… hopefully someone can step up and make a decision about which one we’re going to, because I really don’t care either way and I can’t afford two expensive dinners in one night.
I’d send the sun over to you, Nava, but he’s only just shown up here… and seeing as it’s been way too long since we’ve had a sunny morning, I’m not inclined to send him away just yet.
Put a candy cane on it, and it’d be a Ho Ho Ho cake. Decorate it with fish net stockings would make it simply a Ho cake.

PaleBunny, if it’s that cold routinely in the winter that you have trouble starting your car, I strongly suggest a new battery and an oil heater. If the temperature goes up 10-15[sup]o[/sup] Amurrkin and it still doesn’t start, go for the battery first.

I’m not fully ordained, so to speak; I’m a worship leader/supply leader. Sort of the Lutheran version of a triage nurse. Between funerals and the Holidays and everything, I’ve been asked to bless so many things that it was sort of a knee jerk reaction. I read the post and just sort of winged it.
Yay for Firday and a short Firday at that. It’s our Xmas party for work so CEO decreed that the office closes at 3. Yay!
The party should be fun. It’s a good group of coworkers, and KT likes everybody so it isn’t even painful for him to go. And we get to dress up, which we both enjoy. Food may only be so-so this year. We’re at a different venue, and they require use of their own caterers. Which is too bad because in the past we’ve gotten the best catering company in the Cities so we’re used to a pretty high standard.
We’re hogging the sun a bit here too. But yesterday’s high was 6 and today’s supposed to be 12. So I think if we have to put up with temperatures like that, we deserve to see the sun. So, sorry, I’m not sharing!

Not quite. Just a group of girlfriends that I’ve known practically forever… we used to get up to all sorts of mischief back in the day, but nothing quite on the level of Kaiser Soze and his merry band.
Just found out that today we’re having a pizza lunch, courtesy of Awesome Director. I suppose I can start eating sensibly tomorrow.
On second thought, maybe not… I’ll wait til after the holidays, because who wants to eat sensibly for xmas and new years’?

Yesterday one of our guests gave the entire staff a box of oranges. Some people are really good people. And those were good oranges.
I need to get a pair of tights. It is entirely too cold outside. I got spoiled by ten years in Pirateville–winter starts a month earlier 2100 feet up. There’s sleet in the forecast tomorrow and I have to get a present at the Folk Art Center on the Parkway. There’s a sale tomorrow. I hope it’s not closed due to weather.
