A Charitable MMP

FCM, I concluded some time ago that my cats are really really small. All of what looks like full-grown cat is actually packed-in fur.
Okay, plans for the evening are coalescing. QD’s best friend called to ask when she would be here, Driving Husband and Lazy Husband and Druggie Friend (must find less insulting appellation for him) will be coming, Nat has no idea that he is doomed in a couple of hours and Mommy will disappear to go drink. Friend From Work will be babysitting, and she says she’s unmoved by tears.
Good.

Enjoy your brief flirtation with freedom, LiLi.

I think the universe is trying to tell me something. I went to the kitchen stuff store to pick up some mini tart pans, and on my way home I looked over the newsletter they tucked into my bag. The recipe for this month is… Crash Hot Potatoes.

I do believe that Crash Hot Potatoes might be the new Death Chicken.

Bleh. Our cleaning lady got a new job and just quit. And I was expecting her to come clean so we haven’t done any cleaning and the house looks awful. So now we have a massive cleaning to do. Grrr. I’ve been submitting requests for cleaning from just about everyone I can find on Craig’s List, but it’ll be a while before we can get someone new and I can’t live with the dirt any more.

No, cleaning our own house doesn’t suck that much, but we really really really look forward to our one week off per month and having to suddenly add a bunch of chores to our To Do list just isn’t fun. Bleh. Can we borrow your son, Taters?

Hope the ears get better soon, McUne.

Good luck with the interview, Smartie!!

Now I really wanna go home!

Ah yes, requirements. I forgot about that one, too. So sorry, Nava. We’re in the midst of requirements for a small project that’s going in April 1, but haven’t done the ones for projects going in January 1 or February 1. I love not having control over that.

Gave the baseboards a second coat of primer, gave the fan blades a second coat, primed the door frame and primed about 1/5 of the floor.

I’m thinking I’ll smooth out and clean the two patches in the floor, go for a walk then come back to finish off the floor. Not sure if I can stand giving the floor a second coat of primer tonight.

Back to work…

Sure, taxi, but the cost might be a little prohibitive. Those flight tickets aren’t cheap.

Appropriate/Inappropriate appendeges crossed SmartiePants though it may be too late.

Nice cookware Rebo. I have some of that. Good stuff!

Feel better MCUNE and you other sickies.

Silly Canadians! Don’t they know Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November?

I put in my last day at now old job today. Pizza is et. I have a sheetcake in the oven. Why are they called sheetcakes? I mean, really, they’re big rectangular pan cakes. It’s for a friend’s 50th bday doin’s tomorrow. She likes my chawklit sheetcake. I’m even makin’ chawklit/peecan icin’ but I already said that didn’t I? Oh and I decided upon a seven layer sallit for Sunday so I need to go get stuff for that tomorrow. Haven’t had one of those in a while and I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for it.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts etc. as needed.

Home with my puppies: Scruffy and Bernie - sweet smelling and beautiful. It won’t last, so I had to take pics!

The living room floor is installed. After we eat, I’ll be slapping some paint on baseboard so we can install it tomorrow. Mostly the rest of the night will be mellow. I do have some laundry, but mostly it’s going to be chill mode. Till tomorrow…

Just checking in. Hope everyone has been keeping well and looking forward to their weekend! I ve had a rough day today - I had a big argument with on of my superiors which does not surprise me at all - she’s always been a two faced bleep bleep! Student loan is finally in -woot woot!

Any ideas for a main meal dish that is fairly quick, easy and not overly fancy or fussy. it also can not have any nuts or egg as I am allergic! Im getting seriously board of spag bog and mince and tatties!
cheery

LiLi, enjoy your time out! I’ve been loving all the pictures of Nat on your blog.

Percocet is my friend. That is killing the pain, but I can tell when it’s wearing off. Thankfully I have permission to take it every 4 hours.

Bad news, is I have nausea now, thanks to the pills, but I’m hoping that will go away!

I think it might be that I finally ate something today too. shrugs at least the pain is a bit better.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better, McUne. I’ve been following Nat’s progress, too. So keeee-ute.

How about **taxi **and I split the airfare and make Tatersson’s trip a two-stop cleaning extravaganza???

Back from my walk. And now back to the painting chores.

Hugs…

Okay–interview went very well, took an hour and I had good rapport with the interviewers (two of them.) They asked all the standard questions and I had all kinds of good answers for them, no fumfuhs or awkward moments. The call center is small–maybe 50 desks or so (but the room is 2/3 empty–plenty of room for expansion) and the workspace for each one is HUGE with low acoustic dividers and lots of windows and light–there’s a protected wetlands area out back that will never be built up so it’s all grass and trees and water and birds out there. The building is almost new and the credit union owns the whole thing in addition to the separate building out front which is the main branch.

The money is very good for frontline call center, the bennies are very nice, there’s a liberal bonus/incentive structure in place and the dress code is biz casual with nice jeans allowed. All in all, I could work there and be quite happy, plus there’s areas for advancement. They had some concerns about my ability to start on the ground floor since I have so much managerial experience but I was very upfront and honest when I told them that in a call center any supervisor SHOULD start on the phone, because how can you coach agents on their performance if you don’t know your stuff and haven’t proved you can do better than they can? I also told them that I’m very confident that my skills are such that if/when a supervisory spot opens up I’ll be more than competitive for the opening.

They’re hiring four people and will be making decisions next week after all the interviews are done. I think I have a VERY good chance since I have tons of applicable call center experience and also mortgage/real estate and other financial experience as well–since they don’t have separate departments and it’s a no-transfer call center they want people who can handle ANYTHING, and that’s just what I like! I have a good feeling about this one…

ETA: Aaaand…first on six! This has to be a good omen, right? Right? :stuck_out_tongue:

That sounds good, **Smartie. ** I’ll continue to keep my fingers crossed.

I’ve just returned from the grocery store. I wanted to be a good girl and make another lite or low fat meal, but **Mr. Taters **asked me to make this sort of casserole dish that I layer with rotini pasta, italian sausage, various cheeses, marinara sauce and cream. I cook the sausauge up with seasonings, herbs and onions ahead of time. It’s definitely not a low fat meal.

I can split Tatersson airfare too if she will come and clean my house! I even live in the same state as Taxi!

Oh and I added a Make Ahead Mashed Potato Recipe to the Recipe Blog. I’ve been meaning to do that forever.

And I’m done for the night. First coat of paint is on the baseboards, and my last load (for today) of laundry is in the dryer. SIL is going to be spoken to, as he loaded one of my laundry baskets with his dirty clothes, and I didn’t notice till I’d crammed an armload of it into the washer. And his wife is ticked because he just pulled the clean stuff out of the dryer and dumped it on the bed, unfolded. Time for an intervention.

Bean soup was yum - one of the best recipes I ever downloaded. Here, if you’re interested. I think I shared this once or twice before. I usually use more ham and carrots than what it calls out.

I got an email today saying I had an unclaimed paycheck at the payroll office. I went down there after work and found two unclaimed paychecks totalling together about $70. I have no idea where they came from, but I deposited them tout suite.

I like unexpected money.

I was so glad that today is Firday, that I think I forgot to post until now!

I did enjoy my extra day-off too; I just lazed about and slept most of the day. Tomorrow I shall pay for my sloth; there’s plenty of stuff to do around the apt.

Turner Classic Movie’s tribute to Paul Newman will be on Sunday, so don’t forget! They will show an eclectic lot of movies too - no Butch Cassidy or Sting, I think, but movies that he directed in addition to movies that he starred in. A good representation, I think.

All right, have a good weekend, and a Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadians!!

Herbs go check out my comment to you in the new feud.

SmartiePants sounds like a great interview! My new call center gig is also bidness casual with nice jeans bein’ ok. Matter of facts, stuff like long shorts and sneaks are also ok. Even though I’ll eventually be doin’ QA, I have to go through CSR training and spend some time taking calls so I’ll understand the whole process. I’m down with that cause like you I figure how can I know what to be lookin’ for unless I have the experience on the phones. So, Monday morning, I spend a couple of hours in new employee orientation then start training with a class of newly hired representatives to learn the ins and outs of AT&T Mobility (what AT&T calls it’s cellphone services). Actually, I have learned that this class will also include some current employees of the center as this center is switching over from being a DSL call center to a cellphone call center. Thus, I’m startin’ new on sump’n that’s brand new for the place. Like I said, I’m both excited and weirded out.

Yay for unexpected money Spaz! It’s the best kind!

MOOOOOOM this has been a kinda strange week for me so maybe I overlooked the post, but weren’t you and FCD going to have a come to Jesus with SIL?

gt I’ll take the next available spot as host with the most. I’m thinkin’ I’ll have some tales from training that might be entertainin’ or at least hijack worthy.

We’ve been sippin’ martinis, the drink that comes with its own snack. However, I am stoppin’ at number four, the one I am on now. With numero quatro I am pleasantly buzzed. Anymore and I’d be dukrn pstogni and we can’t have that, now can we?

-swampbear (abuser of the  smiley)

Smarty, got fingers crossed for you to get the job, and sending good vibes your way too. Good luck!

Swampy, abusing smilies! Maybe you’ve had too many martoonis?! Haha…
Yeah, I saw your comment and replied to it; I think I’ve got about 5-6 months on you. I just turned 56.

Gotcha down for October 20, swampy. Guess I’ll have to think up questions about my cellphone service so that I can call that nice mobility call center.

Yay for surprise money!!! May I have some, too, please?

Mmmm, mashed potatoes.

Glad the interview went well, Smartie.

Where’s rigs been? She’s only posted twice this week.

Bedroom is all primed. Tomorrow: paint. And the ceremonial powerwashing of the front steps, which are getting repaired tomorrow afternoon.

Guess I’ll go veg. I think I’ve earned it.

Did I mention dinner was the last 2/3 of the carrot cake from NOL? Yummmmmmm.

Happy Firday evening!!!
