Finished up our weekly shopping, finally. LOL At least I got some Popeye’s chicken out of the deal.
Swampy, congrats on the new job! It does sound like a good deal. Good luck!
Glad that it’s Wednesday (yes it is, it’s after midnight!); I’m off on Friday, then Monday is the Columbus Day holiday. Isn’t it also Canadian Thanksgiving next week? Hah, I’ve got a turkey breast, so maybe I’ll fix a Thanksgiving-type meal this weekend. I loves me some turkey.
So happy to hear the news about the Tokyo Player baby Anya - such great news, and boy is she a cutie!
Congrats to swampy, fershure–I was a call center rep and supervisor for T-Mobile for way more years than you’d ever credit and AT&T & T-Mo are basically sister companies, technology-wise–feel free to brain pick me as well.
Here’s hoping his luck rubs off on me, I had a phone interview with the credit union I bank with, they’re looking for call center people. Himself says I killed, too, so fingers crossed, everybody! My partner has scored some specialty auto jobs and probably has some off the books work for me so if the $$ runs out he can probably help keep me going for a bit. He’s a damned good friend, and if I could have two husbands he’d be the other one.
Yesterday I went out to go run errands and found out my car had some brand new custom bodywork–the driver’s side mirror had been busted right off and the door’s all tweaked, which is a good trick since the mirror assembly is tough metal, not plastic. Subsequent inspection revealed many bright green paint chips–since Monday is trash day it was pretty clear who the culprit was! The garbage company has admitted culpability and I’ve gotten clearance from their adjuster to go get estimates. I located a door for it, it’s even black, w00t! Little spendy, though, $500 including shipping, ouch! Can’t really drive the darned thing until it gets fixed, though, so I gotta drive the spendy van for a while.
I had another panic attack last night and didn’t sleep worth a crap and then had an evil headache today so I needed to do something positive to my environment–I washed all the windows, inside and out and cleaned the screens, trimmed the rampant blackberry vines on the south side of the house and cut them all up, then cleaned up a junk pile that’s been bugging me. I figured out when I got done that I had literally felt the neccessity to change my outlook–we’ll see how “as above, so too below” works out in this case!
I’m feeling some better now, tired but it’s a good tired…
I have not read so; hugs, slaps, giggles, etc all around.
Happy Birthday, LiLi!!!
**Bobbio,I’ve been trying to answer your e-mail but keep getting “Use fully qualfifed domain anme” No matter. I didn’t have anything interesting to say anyway.
LiLi, I’ve known kids who crawled on all fours, kids who slithered on their bellies, kids who went from standing on all fours without being able to move and then suddenly figured out how to run.
SiL and SiLBro spent much of their first year stuck in “walker” type contractions, both the type that look like a cross between an old person’s walker and a doughnut and those others that are hung from the ceiling and you plop the kid in… the kid can make walking movements, but not really move. When they tried it with The Nephew, he pretty much threatened with starting WWIII, it’s one of the few things about which I’ve seen him get seriously angry. SiL and SiLMom asked Mom whether we’d given her trouble with our own walkers. Mom’s response was “never put them in one.” “You didn’t?” “No. Not me, not my sister, none of my SiLs…” They took the Kidlet out of his vertical cages, he slithered around for another month or so, then moved directly to walking after only two days of “standing vertical holding onto furniture.” He never went through crawling on all fours: when he tried, instead of moving his hands first and the knees later (doing it in a coordinated fashion is Crawling 102), he’d move the knees first, get all scrunched up and basically not be able to figure out how to move the hands without falling down.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here! Ol’ y’all know who just left. He had to go back to his place cause he went there yesterday before comin’ to da cave and for reasons unknown, took his briefcase inside. Thus he had to go get his briefcase. He starts work at seven a.m. today cause he’s got a new person to train and is goin’ on calls with her.
Thanks for all the congrats. I really feel like I did the right thing. However, my own personal feelings towards cellphones is I want a phone to make and receive calls. Beyond that and voicemail, I care not for other features. I guess I will become less of a cellphone luddite now.
Bbbobbio are your peecans lookin’ good this year? I askin’ cause it looks like this year’s harvest around here will not be as big as last year’s, which, was an especially good year. I still have several quarts in the freezer from last year. Of course, bein’ as I go to church in a peecan grove, I have a source.
Ok, I need more caffiene, then purtification for work. Gonna be a weird next three days. However, I won’t be gettin’ any projects that stretch into next week, so there is that!
It’s early, and Nat has already figured out his way into a delicious tub of diaper cream.
Morning, everyone.
Nava, he’s heavily into crawling, but he aches to walk. You can see it. We’ve spent a lot of time in the past few days with him pulling himself up, and letting go, and swaying… plop! Down onto his bottom. The intervals before he falls are getting a little longer. Aagh.
Afternoon, Mumpers! It’s a beautiful day over here, lovely and sunny and much better than the last few cold wet days so perhaps we’re back to late summer instead of early autumn.
Last night we had a taster session at Fat Club - it’s a chance to make something and take it along for other people try so I made fat-free pannacotta. It’s made from yogurt, quark, gelatine and egg white, and it turned out pretty well. I put some sliced fruit on top and everyone who tried it seemed to enjoy it. I’ve also got a nice recipe for coffee, chocolate and cognac mousse which I’m going to make next week - I don’t have all the component parts for it yet so that’s going to be on my shopping list for Friday.
This weekend I’m going to London with my doting parent as she wants to see the Hadrian exhibition at the British Museum so I volunteered to go with her. Much as I love the old bird, she can be a bit of a trial so I have a feeling there will be wine involved in my Saturday night.
Congrats on the job, Swampus! I’m with you on the cellphone ludditeness, I like mine to make and receive calls/texts and take messages. I don’t need all this fancy stuff either, it just makes my life more complicated.
Li-Li, now that Gnat is starting to walk, you have the added pleasure of putting things in his way to trip him up. See? Babies are just hours of fun!
This will be the off year, compounded by the loss of nuts in TS Hannah and the noreaster. There will still be plenty to crack; just not the 90 gallons I picked up last year. Probably 40ish.
Congrats on the new gig, Swampus. Now you’ll have to actually go to work.
Can you put up a realistic cardboard cutout of yourself, and come over here and wash dishes?
Thanks, BooFae. We’re already cackling as we dress him in things that will make embarrassing photos in ten or fifteen years. You should have seen last night’s fuzzy bear sleeper. (((]Ivory)))
Do you still feel sick, Pie?
We’re off for dinner tonight, and our jobs today (using ‘our’ loosely) are to WASH ALL THE DISHES from yesterday’s cook-a-thon, and run some laundry. Hours of fun.
I am sick of scooping cookie dough which I’ve been doing for the last 1 1/2 hours. There’s a local flea market that has indoor booths and we’re thinking of getting one for November and possibly December to sell tubs of cookie dough and other assorted stuff. Now I have to go do math and figure out how much this will all cost.
Ugh, indeed.
Dammit dammit dammit. There was a spoon buried in the tub of baby laundry, which is now going, and it’s a front-loader so it’s locked even if you unplug it. And I think Mr. Lissar may have tossed Nat’s shoes into the same basket. Sigh. I hope the spoon and washer will be okay. I doubt the shoes will. Sigh again. He was outgrowing them anyway.
Hmmm… I didn’t think either one of those would go into a fat-free dessert.
Speaking of desserts…
I have concluded that I need a smaller tub. My current prototype would have to sell for at least $12 in order to make a profit. On the bright side it makes almost 60 cookies.
Probably half the size would be better and more likely to cause spur of the moment sales.
Good luck with the soon-to-be-extremely-mobile kidlet, LiLi! Will we ever see you around here if you’re spending all your time chasing Nat??
Mmmm, cookie dough. You could send some this way, Pie.
I played with my new phone a bit last night, and KT played with it quite a bit. It’s surprisingly easy to use considering how much it does. However, the typing thing’s a PITA. Maybe I’ll figure it out with a little more time.
I’m tired and a bit grumpy this morning. I didn’t sleep all that well last night and then there wasn’t enough hot water left for me. So I had a shower that started sort of slightly warm and ended pretty darn chilly. I think we may have to think about a new water heater in the not-too-distant future. If it can’t handle two showers (no laundry, no dishes, nothing else), it’s not doing too well.
