A Cheap Chawklit MMP

Did George also get petted by the nice teenager with the huge dogs?

Buddy hung out in the apartment for a couple of hours before going to the door and politely asking to have it reopened so he could move on with his evening. We did have a minor round of slappy-paws between the cats, but no real aggressive intent on either side. Allie’s still irked that Buddy likes my desk chair as much as she does, and I’m worrying that we may need to catch Buddy for a trip to the vet (noticed an apparent open wound on his chest. No visible sign of infection, and he appears quite healthy and agile). Allie did tolerate hanging out within a few feet of Buddy without commentary (her under my desk, him in the chair). I think the feline truce is advancing.

Hairball gunk always seems to make Allie happier. She’ll eat it right from the tube and get annoyed when I decide she’s had sufficient.

Your story brought a big smile to my face, Jane the Cane.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and partly N.O.S. for the day. Obviously, the big item on today’s agenda is to be the Officiant at deheathenization. Officiant is a funny word. Makes it sound like I’m goin’ to get folks married up. After that it will be back to da cave for a N.O.L. of ham pot pie, followed by much sloth.

Nettie nonsense. You are not hoggin’ the thread. I’m glad Buddy had a good visit and seems inclined to maybe becomin’ an indoor kitty.

Jane The Cane I am glad GG got to see the big dog up close. Plus, good on hubs and you for takin’ in the horses and teenager for a while and gettin’ them all fed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning all. Got a lot more sunburn yesterday than I expected, so did not sleep comfortably and was up before 6am. With the yard still to mow today, nappage or an early bedtime is likely. N.O.S. and 83F for the high, so need to get out and mow as early as the neighborhood allows (probably between 9:30-10:00am). So dinner will probably be late afternoon so I’ll need to round up something to keep me fed until then.

Nettie, you need to vent and we’re here for venting purposes. Talk away, we’re not going anywhere. Besides, the Buddy and Allie story is interesting.

Jane the Cane, GG and the ‘big dogs’ would have been quite a picture; and good on you for taking care of both horses and teenager.

BBBoo, just shopped at Wal-Mart on-line, and think I’m going to pick up a wrist BP monitor there in the next couple of days. Seems like a good idea.

OK, paper retrieved and pills taken, so need to get my internettin’ done early so mowage can commence before it gets too hot. All y’all have a good Sunday.

seanette, you can vent here all you need to. Have you considered checking into community healthy services until you can get set up with insurance? Years ago, when I was initially diagnosed as diabetic (and uninsured), I was referred to them. While I prefer my current provider, they were affordable (sliding scale) when I needed treatment. I also think that you have a new cat. :stuck_out_tongue:

jane the cane, that was most generous of you to provide pasture for the horse and taking care of its humans. I would have liked to have seen GG with the big “dog”.

metal mouse, if you get into a Walgreen’s, pick some of this up. As the veteran of too many sunburns, I can attest to its effectiveness.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Aside from the usual Sunday chores, not a whole lot is on the schedule for today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I was up on and off all night, spewing from both ends. My daughter’s family are just getting over it but i guess Toby’s drool was the vector. So I’m exhausted. FCD is out fetching me some ginger ale.

Happy Sunday?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Cleaning and laundry on the agenda today. And trying out the new Rollsuck Supreme(with filth window!) that I bought yesterday.

Feel better, FCM!

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was busy. We went to Wild Birds Unlimited, Lowes, lunch, and then a nursery where I bought several plants. I also picked up a couple at Lowes, but I like this particular nursery because they don’t just carry your everyday run-of-the-mill plants. We came home and got them unloaded and I set to work planting my plants in the new planter and one of the planters from last year.

nellie, I was wrong about one of the plants. I plant Hot Lips Salvia which has red flowers and a distinctly sagey smell. I like it. I will need a lot more plants. My husband actually really liked this nursery and picked out some plants too.

I discovered I have a Dark-Eyed Junco nest in the side portion of my backyard in other news. They’ve built a nest on the ground, under a fold of old tarp that we have there. I was planning on making a dump run to get that stuff out of there, but will now have to wait until the birds are gone. I am trying not disturb them, but unfortunately, that side of the yard has the gate, so we will have to walk past the nest. I don’t try to peer into it, I just walk past, and watch the parents as they watch me from the top of the fence.

I need to do laundry today, so that’s what I’ll do. I’m stoked to take another trip to the nursery, but I’m going to wait another couple of weeks. I was cutting it close by buying plants yesterday. I woke up to 37 degree temps.

'Tis a rainy day in the western Mitten State today. My first day off in a long time, so instead of serving food, I’ll be … serving food.

I’m helping at a fundraiser dinner to support Ukraine war victims, and it’s a truly worthy cause, but … damnit, I wish it didn’t come right on the tail end of a couple of hellish weeks.

The G.M. (our resident Asshole Manager) said we’re getting back to normal workload next week. He asked me if that made me feel better and I rather snottily replied that I hadn’t had that nap yet.

Speaking of, I’m supposed to have a meeting with him tomorrow. No clear idea of why, but I faintly suspect it’s about the rather favorable review and possibly what my next steps upwards will be.
I sure hope so!

Then I’m supposed to cover while he holds another meeting, so tomorrow I have to work and be “on” for two whole hours.

… which really cuts into naptime!

Alright, I gotta purtify for this Ukraine thing.

I love red-blooming salvia, and am familiar with Hot Lips. My fave was Lady In Red.

Happy Sunday!

It’s a nice 67 degrees outside. I wore a coat to the park this morning. I was there for 2.5 hours and by the time I left, I didn’t need it.
We had a pretty good bunch this morning, but I was surprised it wasn’t busier, considering the weather.

Echo is reverting back to being a bitch. For some reason she didn’t like Roxy today and kept running her off. Then they got into it because Lucy’s dad brought some treats and Echo didn’t like sharing with Roxy. No damage though, just a lot of noise.
Echo tried to get pissy with a husky, but the husky just ignored her.
We turned th heat off and left the windows open last night. I got cold.
It’s supposed to get up into the 80s today, and then we have mornings back down into the 30s next week.

I ordered a bunch of groceries to pick up today. We usually shop on Toosday, which is senior discount day, but with my son irking on Toosdays, we won’t be doing that for a while. After I submitted the order, I realized there is no way everything is going to fit in the freezer. I’ll figure something out, I guess.
Never order groceries when you are hungry!

We were only without water for 2 hours yesterday, so not bad at all. The neighbor’s niece and nephew in law were there all day yesterday finishing up around the house. My neighbor should be back soon.

I’m sorry about your nephew FCM. What a shock I’m sure and so sad.
I hope you feel better.

I hope you get the BP under control Nettie. It does sound like you have a new cat. I’m sure Allie will adjust.
Adam and the BB&W cat are not friendly at all.

How cool to have horses in the yard, Unknown.

Your work is very nice Hippie.
I wish I had the patience to make pretty things, but I don’t.

Happy Officiating Swampy

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a sunburn MM. Aloe seems to irk pretty well.

I suppose I should be doing something instead of sitting on my ass.

I ran out of checks a couple of weeks ago. I thought I had more, but couldn’t find them. And I took special pains to put any extra checks in a place I couldn’t possibly lose them, so I must have forgotten to re-order. New checks arrived yesterday. I checked the numbers, and sure enough I was missing 60 checks. I searched again. After some time, I checked again the one place I was sure I wouldn’t lose the checks. I found the portfolio. Right where I’d put it so I wouldn’t lose it, and right where I’d looked several times before. Now I’ll have to go to the propane distributor and pay in person, since their terms seem to be ‘pay at time of service’. And the electricity bill is going to be late. Because I couldn’t find my checks in the place I couldn’t possibly lose them

And… I can’t log into my credit union. I tried two different accounts, and then connected to my office computer and failed to log in there as well. I’m hoping it’s just an outage, and that my identity hasn’t been stolen. Of course, I can’t find out until tomorrow.

Mowage achieved for the first time of the season. Also scraped the side of the house for re-painting, only to discover that the paint has gone bad.

And my yard work shoe decided it didn’t want to play anymore. The sole fell off.

I guess the world is telling me that I shouldn’t be working today. Alas.

UPDATE: I was just able to log into my credit union. Must’ve been a temporary outage.

Ha! You have not. If you weren’t giving us updates, we’d be bugging you for news. I’m close enough to drive over there young lady!

Any pictures? What did GG think of the giant dog?

Moommm I’m sorry you got the plague. I hope it passes (sorry) quickly.

Woe. Woe indeed.

We’re doing a delayed Easter dinner with family today. I need to do some laundry stuff and I want to take a nap. The nap I mention because I’m already tired.

I hereby declare this a day of sloth for all of those who wish to partake.

Happy Sunday!

Works for me :). May have to do a couple minor tasks (garbage, vacuum, and such), but I have no plans for any major projects over here.

I have ordered a yoga mat (which will fit in my living room) and a poster showing poses. Between YouTube and Amazon Prime, there are abundant instructional videos, so I can at least get the “let’s get less sedentary” campaign underway. In previous neighborhoods, taking walks worked a lot better than it does where I’m living now.

I’m sorry to hear about your nephew Moooom, also the whole lurgy situation.

Ugh, I wish… Been One Of Those Weekends. I’d offered to help a friend move in to a new place with another friend, as she doesn’t drive, and everyone involved is a poverty stricken student (friend 2 didn’t have much stuff and had a boyfriend with a van, so no need for my help with that part). It’s not far to go, she was moving out of a small flat with no big furniture being taken and there were supposed to be a few of us helping including friend 2 and boyfriend + van, so it shouldn’t have been too bad.

It was.

I went with them to get the keys on Friday afternoon; it’s basically just gone on and on until about 7pm today, included an awful lot more drama and emotion than anyone expected, and so much stuff that honestly that tiny flat must have been a distant cousin of the TARDIS. I swear we took at least 3 times the volume of the flat to the new place/to the rubbish bins at uni/to donate, and it’s still full of the furniture that’s staying.

I still need to take the last few bits (and friend 1) to the new place tomorrow morning, before class… I’m so exhausted now. It’s not even 8pm just wanna go to bed, but I need to watch some videos that I’m supposed to also watch before class- the final taught week of this programme- and I am completely out of brain.

Afternoon all. Mowage has been completed, it went better than expected, the clouds kept the sun off of me and only had 3 bags worth of clippings. Also had some branches from my neighbor’s tree that bad weather had knocked off sometime past (I seldom go into my back yard) and those have been put out front for pickup. Will probably bathe here shortly and start planning for late lunch/early dinner.

Oh, while mowing, I nearly answered the question "What’s red and green and goes 500 miles per hour? Answer: a frog in a mower All is well, however.

Nut, I’ve helped friends move once or twice in my life; it usually does not end well…

flyboy, glad you got connected. My Credit Union locked me out because I hadn’t logged in over 30 days. I only have a savings account there, so I check it infrequently, and apparently that’s a no-no with my Credit Union…so I’ll call tomorrow to get my system unlocked and register my complaint with the &*%^&% service. And I also have my remaining checks in the one place I can;t possibly lose them (need to double-check…)

Why do I get a picture of Major Margret Houlihan french-kissing someone??

Feel better soon, FCM.

red, Sari, thanks for the suggestions, feeling much better today. For some reason I never have liked using suntan protection…so if I occasionally glow in the dark, it’s my own doing…

OK, need to make myself presentable in public. All y’all take care.

It sounds like froggy escaped their doom?

Moving sucks. Helping other people move becomes a circle of hell at a certain point. You are a good friend.

She and I took riding lessons together years ago. Hunt seat, for you riders in the crowd.

Metal Mouse sunscreen used to feel like I was smothering my skin. I didn’t care for it. There are formulations now that don’t feel that way at all. It might be worth looking for a few lightweight ones to try. Your players might be using them or their parents might have some suggestions.

Been dozing on and off. No episodes of sick, so that’s good, but I still feel dizzy/exhausted/off-balance. I’m not hungry but I feel like I should eat. Maybe just some more ginger ale.

Tomorrow is the big question mark - can SIL drive Roxy to school? They’re going to make a test run today. Meanwhile, I need to get my car started since it goes into the shop on Thursday. Hard to think that far in advance at the moment.

Reminds me of the last time I moved. I could not believe how much stuff we’d gotten into that apartment.
