Howdy Y’all! I managed without major disaster, so I call it a win. The ham pot pie is mega yum. I done good on that! Nappage has been achieved and the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Lots of chillage now ensues.
Di Griz, have you ever had trouble with the referee gig? Parents getting obnoxious?
Sunny Daze, remember, you need to tell me something, lol.
swampie, beer in hand would be a good choice of how to go. Also, I had to officiate at a couple of services while living in Michigan in the late 80’s. Sermon even! People are so relieved THEY didn’t have to do it they are very complimentary.
FCM, when I was a kid it was almost worth being sick because we would get Seven-Up. Folks didn’t keep much soda in the house so it was a treat.
I was at a wedding and wedding reception in Kansas City last night. A cousin’s daughter got married. Everything was lovely, although there was some nervous eyes cast at the sky, as clouds came in. But the rain held off. It was a fancy dinner for the reception. I remember that girl when she was born, and she’s her mother’s only child, although she has some half siblings we don’t know. Dress was gorgeous, everyone was happy, a good time was had by all. It’s been a very long time since I was at a wedding, for various reasons I missed out with some other family members.
Glad you’re feeling a little better Moooooom. I hope that you’re back to yourself soon.
nut, you’re a good friend to help someone move.
Got a lot done in the studio today, with breaks to do Sunday chores , call Dad and a short trip to the dog park. I’ll go to bed with the chickens tonight for tomorrow.
Today I…
- Made biscuits & gravy for breakfast;
- Loaded and started the dishwasher;
- Put the dishes away;
- Walked 2.76 miles in 54:49, for a pace of 3.02 mph;
- Showered;
- Went to the market for Romaine lettuce, a tomato, and a dozen jumbo eggs;
- Defrosted bacon for BLTs tonight.
And it’s not even 15:00. (OK, that’s not a lot for 3 of the clock; but it’s a Sunday.)
Thanks again everyone for the nice words, but I gots to confess that we didn’t do it out of the kindness of our hearts, we did it cause we wanted to see what our spoiled cat thought about horses. Getting the free clover-mowing and fertilizer was just a bonus!
GG thought the BIG dog was great! According to the kid, the horses had cats at home and seemed to like being around them so he wasn’t worried about his horse getting upset being around a (very) strange cat.
Apparently the family cats and dog had already been relocated to the valley, the horses were last because horses are so much more trouble to move.
The fire is still growing, the wind is still crazy but they have managed to get some containment. There is no telling when or if folks will be able to go home again. It sucks.
Nettie is rescuing a homeless kitteh, that’s a huge deal right there!
I ain’t calling ya old or anything, but as people age their skin is less able to take the sun so you need to show more caution than a younger person. I’m a big fan of spray on Bullfrog, it drys fast, isn’t sticky and doesn’t sweat off.
That sucks. At least you are home in your bed instead of floating around in the ocean. I hope you recover quickly.
You are a good person.
I hope your GM aka AM is going to give you more money soon. it’s good to be appreciated, its better to be able to pay your bills.
I hate it when I do that. I really hate the stupid feeling I get when I finally do find or replace them. You have my sympathy!
Today I raked the horse droppings around so they wouldn’t burn the clover. (The teenager offered to rake them up before they left but I didn’t really see any need for that.) Next I ran the hoses for the tractor sprinkler and got it going and went back inside because its so smokey outside. Half an hour or so later, I looked outside and saw that the tractor had blown off one of the sprinkler arms and was flood watering the back yard. Looks like I didn’t need to bother spreading the droppings around, the flood did a beautiful job for me.

This piece is going to be 14"X14" so its on my scrolling frame. The darn thing is off center but that’s OK, there will still be plenty of canvas for the framer. I’m going to be really happy in a couple of weeks when I can start putting color in it, I have to pay too much attention to where I am when I’m doing monochromatic work.
Oh, I also made a spreadsheet to calculate miles per hour from minutes and seconds.
Fundraiser was an enormous success. They planned for 600 people and made extras … we ran out of almost everything, so more than 600 people attended/participated. (We had to-go meals as well; that was my “station” in fact.)
One lady came for a couple of to-go meals, and asked how much to pay. We said it was your choice of donation. She asked if a check was O.K. and we said sure.
… she wrote a check for a thousand dollars y’all.
Now I’m happily assimilating some meat pierogi and finally, finally, just sitting on my @$$. I’d love a nap, but it’s so late already … eh, I might indulge anyway.
All sorts of things about climate change are awful, but these fires are one of the worst. I saw some news about the fire today and thought about you. I rely on you to have a bug out plan. They move quickly when they want to.
This is absolutely where I would nope on out. That looks incredibly difficult.
Our delayed Easter dinner is off to a rocky start. BiL has announced at * checks watch * 4pm that he won’t be cooking a ham, but he’s happy to send over some steaks for me and my mom to cook. We were not planning on cooking for a large group with zero notice, so we’re having pizza and bunny cakes.
Also Easter Egg cookies. There will be egg dying as well.
I’m going to have a beer now to get ready for the din of my kids and their cousins. They’re a rowdy bunch, which is awesome. I’m glad they’re close enough to have fun together.
The neighbors held our farewell potluck today, which was very nice of them. It was Midwest themed, so tater tot casserole, bratwurst, etc. Needed a nap afterward. The countdown continues to April 28th.
It sounds like you have good neighbors, which is a wonderful thing. ![]()
Cupcake Don’t wanna. ![]()
Evening all. Had an early dinner about 4:30pm (Meatloaf at the Metro Diner) and then took the car over to be washed and stopped at Wal-Mart for a wrist BP monitor and some masks (Wal-Mart had only 2 small boxes of one-day masks on their shelves and no N95 ones; apparently as far as the state of Ali-bama is concerned, COVID is no longer a worry). Dropped off the gas bill (last bill of the month) so I have been moderately productive.
Jane the Cane, thanks for the information, if I had read that before my Wal-Mart stop I’d have looked for some of that.
Just remember, friends help you move; true friends help you move bodies… ![]()
One of the reasons I work with the AYSO is that it is a recreational league, and is dedicated to good sportsmanship and everyone playing, so we seldom get any troubles, sometimes a coach gets to caught up in things, but I’ve never had any incidents worth noting. Also helps that I stay in the 8-11 year old range, not the older kids when puberty and hormones kick in…
Take care, FCM. And why can’t SIL take Roxy to school?
Yep, could just see the hopping in time to slow the mower down. Froggy made it to the side of the house and climbed about 1/3 of the way up, so while the yard may be a little harder to hide in for him/her, I won;t be back there for 8-9 days.
OK, need to finish some puzzles and think of when bedtime should be, given that no nappage was taken. Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
We’ve been amazingly lucky here with regards to neighbors. I can’t think of a bad one, even among the rotating renters on the street.
Today’s blood pressure was 169/62. I know the lower one being below 80 is good, but is there such a thing as TOO low?
Rodent, hope your blood pressure is healthier than mine.
He’s recuperating from knee surgery. But my daughter said he’ll be able to drive her tomorrow.
I had a good sleep with Taz stealing my body heat. I had a piece of toast that has stayed down so far. I’m past the 24-hour mark so it’s probably not terminal. Here’s hoping a good sleep tonight restores me.
If so, tomorrow will be convenience center day.
So my Interweb speed is a whopping 0.04Mbs. Which is good. For 1989. Hence my scarcity for now.
For me, the worse was when it was so hot last year that the baby birds tried to fly away from the heat and died. An entire generation of falcons was lost ![]()
We do have bug out plans, and honestly the wildfire concerns are why we chose to move here instead of a lovely place backed up to open land. We are a street in from open land and our home has fire safe landscaping. Most of the small bedroom communities in this area only have one paved road leading in and out, ours has two plus two dirt roads that we could get our cars through if we weren’t worried about the damage.
That’s the whole point! It really isn’t that hard though, there are only 6 different stitches involved and only one of them is a twisty stitch. Back in the day, I loved doing stuff like this because it looks so impressive.
I’ve gotten lazier since then and I get distracted easier. If I wasn’t so lazy, I’d use count threads and if I didn’t have a big kitten I might not get so distracted so often.
I have an app for that.
Did you give her an extra taco or two? j/k!
Good on you for busting butt for the cause and good on her for being so generous. I’ll bet her food tasted much better knowing that it was made and bought with love.
Do you still have a landline? I think our landline/modem speeds were better than that. I hope it gets fixed post haste.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
No landline. And I have a small case PC, so my fax/modem card(yes I have one!) wouldn’t fit anyways.
