hippy, that’s really impressive.
wordy, I somehow got confused (Hah! No “somehow” about it. I was born this way.) and thought sari was the one who had the anniversary the other day. So sorry! And happy belated.
nettie, comfort has its own health benefits. Hope lunch was delish!
I hope I’m better tomorrow. I need to clean out the fridge, bu there’s no way to tackle it today.
And in happy news: Al Vocado lives! In fact, he has FOUR new leaves!
It occurred to me recently to wonder how Al was faring. Wondering if he should get a middle name. I’m thinking Lazarus. ![]()
McDonald’s is rarely exciting, but they’re dependable. McNuggets and half the fries are settling into my stomach (other half of the fries are in the fridge for later. I like them reheated), and the strawberry/creme pie will be ingested soon. No idea about dinner, we’ll see when DH gets home.
I just really hope next week is better for all of us. Human and pet medical woes, house sale woes (and sadness over the reason for it)… We need to quit this. It’s starting to seem very Jumanji 2022 around here.
Happy Firday!
It was a not so bad 46 degrees at the park this morning. It got up to 70 later today.
I almost didn’t go as I wasn’t feeling all that good, but I went, and I’m glad I did.
It’s supposed to get up into the 80s this weekend, and then next week there will be mornings in the 30s again.
This shit weather is getting old.
I talked with Niece1 and got more information about what is going on with my mother. I think it is better if Niece1 goes with her, she is a bit more level headed than my sister. She takes notes and asks a lot of questions.
My mother has a portal put in next week, and then her chemo starts the first week of May. She is getting another MRI because the doctors want to be thorough, even though my mother doesn’t want it. She’s not getting another biopsy; the doctor is running additional tests on it to see if her cancer is genetic.
My mother is upset with the drama going on in her house. Niece2 and her ex-bf are not getting along, but there is nothing I can do about that.
I’ll be going down Moonday, so I can talk with her then. My son is going with me so she can talk to him about his portfolio. Playing with the stock market is her hobby, but she is getting ready to hand it over to my son. He’ll probably never touch it. He’s had it in his name for two years and doesn’t even look at it.
We will be without water, kind of sort of, for a few hours tomorrow. We’ll have water coming in but no way for it to go out. The neighbor is getting a powder room put in and the plumbing will be disconnected for a while. So, I guess any water going out would end up on the neighbor’s basement floor. I hope there are no problems. No toilets, no showers, no laundry, no dishwasher.
If my mother didn’t already have a houseful of people, I’d go tomorrow and stay until Moonday.
I guess there will be no more park drama for a few more days. I finally heard from Barky mom yesterday, for the first time since last Firday. I thought maybe she wasn’t going anymore because Coco joined Lucy on the small dog side last Firday and didn’t make it a secret as to why. I thought maybe she had been offended or upset and was sitting back for a bit.
Barky mom went out of town, and never bothered to answer my text messages, which had me wondering what was going on. She could have replied and said she was out of town. She finally answered me yesterday and said she was coming home last night, but bringing some family home with her.
I sent a text this morning, no answer. Then later I got a text saying to read her previous text. Whatever, having family over has not stopped her from going before. I took the text as being snarky, but I doubt it was meant that way.
My temper is short though, so I ignored it. I guess this means she won’t be going for a few more days, which will make the rest of the group happy.
I need sleep. I’ve not been getting enough.
I’m so glad you didn’t have a stroke, Nettie.
How scary though.
I agree with you though, too many woes going on around here.
I’m going to try to gt to bed early tonight.
I need sleep.
metal mouse, given that you live in northern Ali-bammy, buckle of the stroke belt, I’m guessing that your PCP has an oversized cuff (mine does). Ask for it the next time.
I hope that you’re feeling better soonest nellie.
Welcome home Moooooooom!
I’m sorry about your friends doggio. Falls and mishaps after a certain age can be pretty scary.
jane the cane, your little kitteh is growing up!
Hugs to you baker. My dad and his younger brother’s second wife (about 15 years younger than my uncle was) are the last ones standing in his generation. I have one aunt and one uncle, plus an aunt by marriage left on Mom’s side (the aunt and uncle are only 12 and 14 years older than I am). At this point, my generation is pretty much in charge of gatherings and such.
swampy, I’d eat a redneck aigroll.
They sound absolutely yummy. While I was in the old town for the doctor’s appointment today, I swung through Stroud’s BBQ for one of their most awesome barbeque salads (they do them up in a taco salad shell).
hippy, this quilt looks like it will be as beautiful as the last one.

I went to my PCP for a regular checkup this morning. Given my work change, I schedule for my day off and the PA I’d been seeing for a couple of years doesn’t keep office hours on Fridays. So I am now seeing the FNP that I saw when I had the flu. I’m impressed so far. He listens and we had a prescription review that will drastically lower my costs and likely make me feel somewhat better. I had been thinking of changing practices, given that the PA that I went to that office originally for has gone and the one that I was shifted to, while not a bad guy, wasn’t who I needed. The good news is that I’m 23# lighter than I was last July and my BP was 126/71.
I picked up the groceries while I was in town, came home, took Nelson to the parque para perros for a romp, then headed to the drive thru for a stoner supper. ![]()
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Up from naptime. I changed my sheets, flipped the mattress, and put one of the slats back in the bed frame. I also found my Cross pen, wedged between the box spring and the frame. Now it’s gin&tonic time(my scurvy was flaring up.
)
Redneck Eggroll, N.C. version(collards instead of slaw)

Boo we could relax at the cee-mint pond, day drink, eat redneck aigrolls and my infamous jalapeño pepers stuffed with cream cheese, snausage, and pee-kahns, be all kinds of silly and well, it’d be fun! Heck, everybody come! doggio I could chow some redneck aigrolls made with collard greens. The sauce Sonny’s serves is kinda heavy on the liquid smoke. A teeny tiny bit of liquid smoke goes a long way IMO.
Could we do it over Zoom? I could sure use some day drinking and getting silly with fun friends.
Any Mumpers know how to set up Zooms? I could go for a regular rolling cocktail hour. BYOC. [bring your own coasters] casual dress of course, or at least clothed from the waist up. I might even put on lipstick so I don’t scare folks.
‘Is your sufficience adequately sorensified?’ That’s how dad would ask if you’ve had enough to eat.
We each had half a rib-eye stead (bottom half for me; I saved the top half for later) and a small baked potato with butter, sour cream, and chives. I’m full.
I am showered, shampooed, and tucked in on my wonderfully comfy mattress. Sleep now, story tomorrow.

I always have heard and used “sufficiently suffoncified.”
I dunno how to set up a Zoom, but I’d be down for putting some faces to names, and some day drinkin.
Are non-alcohol beverages acceptable for this? ![]()
Evening all. Went out to the soccer fields to do a goalkeeping class, but couldn’t find the team in the place and time they indicated. Checked a couple of other places and then went back and nothing. Oh well, went to the gym and got the 30 minutes biking and 30 minutes swimming in that I had missed earlier this week. Ate hamburger and fries (a local place called Jack’s) and need to be thinking about bedtime soon, am refereeing games at 8:30, 11:30 and 2:00 tomorrow.
red, glad the medico fits your needs. I’m somewhat lighter than last year (not up to your standards) so it’ll be interesting to see what my BP is.
Sari, hope things work out for your Mom. sounds like Niece 1 takes after you.
hippy, that’s beautiful work, just that part looks like it could be found in a Duke’s residence in England.
{{Baker}}. for your Mom.
OK, need to do a couple more things the set the alarm and head off to bed. All y’all take care.
I’ve had just about enough wine, right now. But I’m having another glass.
Of course, whatever beverages and snacks you enjoy.
I talk a good line but in my dotage and after my traumatic brain injury 4 years ago I’d be surprised if I average 12 drinks a year.
But I sure enjoy those 12! Rum, gin, hard cider, bubbly, bring it on! ![]()

Of course!
It’s beautiful!
Since we are all friends in this thread I feel I can ask this question without feeling too stupid.
Is there a way in the current board system to see a listing of the posts we have made? Maybe in the last week or so, or just a little further? I made a post and want to go back to it, but can’t find the thread it was in.
You can try clicking your profile pic (the purple B at the upper right side of your screen) and then clicking on the little silhouette person on the far right of that screen. Select activity and then look around. That’s as far as I’ve gone, hope this helps.
A rather unhelpful white paw just reached up to my keyboard and started pushing keys, sorry for the double post.
Sorry guys, it was just a fluke, it hasn’t happened since. Hubs likes living in a meat locker and I like things a little warmer, so I keep the door in my stitching room pushed almost closed to keep my precious heat in. GG has gone back to looking through the door crack and crying when he wants entrance or egress. Dang, I was SO flipping proud of him too.
CupCakes I totally understand how you feel. Money is no substitute for a loved one.
May I start by saying how much I admire your work surface. My jealousy is unbounded. Now, about your quilt…that is going to be amazing when it’s finished. Your wonderful choices of fabric and textures is amazing. Please, please show us more of your progress as you can. Pics of your feline supervisor wouldn’t be amiss either.
Be sure to drink it in the sunshine, you don’t want to get rickets!
Um, yeah, me too. I don’t really have a constant pot smoke haze around my head and my sippy cup usually contains ice water with a lemon slice, but I’d be up for a zoom session if someone tells us how to do it.
I do always have a cat hanging around in arms distance and some sort of needlework project in front of me, so that much is true ![]()
It was cold and windy today so I didn’t sit out on our porch, but I did get out to turn the rail plants around (so they get sun on the other side) and hang up a third hummer feeder. I walked inside and turned around to see three of the flying pigs tanking up for the night.
I think we have feathered fire evacuatees. There have been flocks and flocks of birds emptying our feeders and bathing in the water. I recognize some of the sparrows that usually live up north. The closest fire is 30 miles away, the poor birds must have been really frightened to get this far.
