Stuffed cabbage innards all mixed and in the fridge. Water is on to boil so I can separate the cabbage leaves. And I think this time, I’m going to make it with tomato sauce, which I’ve never done before. I know it’s pretty much the traditional way, but it’s not how my grandmother made it, and I follow her recipe. Hope she won’t come back to haunt me after this!
I think once Roxy goes down for a nap, I’m going to run to Aldi. Yep, mostly lazy day.
I guess I should thank the bat in the attic, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have face masks or rubber gloves.
I saw a hat go by my window and wondered who was walking in my yard. The guy next door, I really wish I could remember his name, is out raking my yard. His landlord mowed it again yesterday, and well as the one next door, and trimmed her crepe myrtle too.
It makes me feel guilty and that I should be out there too, but I am still irking 80+ hours and I can only do so much.
flyboy, well-played. flytrap, meh…you can do better…
doggio, hope Geordie gets to feeling better.
Errands run, also stopped at the bank to change a $100 I had (I usually get one of those for groceries each month, didn’t use it this time–and yes, I’m old-fashioned and don’t use a debit card). Gave the bank lady a breakdown, but confused her as I had picked up the wrong note of my desk (dumbth) but we got it worked out. Denver Mattress is completely closed (they weren’t selling stuff but did have staff in 10 days ago) but gas bill is paid so I’ll stay warm for another month.
Got an e-mail from someone saying they had my password and if I didn’t pay them bitcoins they were going to share all my ‘nasty’ places to everyone. Problem is (1) someone tried this scam on me 6 months ago and (2) I changed the passwords that used the one they had on all sites I had used before, so they are way out of date. And of course I would never go to any site that is in the least way disreputable…
I went grocery shopping. Still no TP or PT to be had. I got most everything else. When done, I couldn’t find my car for ten minutes and this is not a big parking lot. So that is done mostly for the next week to ten days. I did forget a couple items that were not on the list so I shall try to get those when I go to irk in the morning.
The rest of the day is devoted to sloth. I have a good movie queued up and a nap is probably in order. I don’t know what I’m gonna cook. Maybe ribs. Yep, that is what it will be. Hubby’s friend that grows taters sent us a case of taters so I need to do something with taters. Maybe tater salad. Glad that’s sorted.
My '64 TR4 didn’t come with a hand crank, but my '57 TR3 did, which I used many times. It quit being fun pretty quickly.
Somebody gave me an actual paper check for $40.00 the other day, so I installed my credit union’s app to do an electronic deposit. That was fun. When I first installed the app last night I couldn’t get the camera to work. This morning the camera worked but it kept telling me it didn’t like my picture(s). I finally watched a short video that explained that I needed to put the check on a plain (non-patterned) dark background. :smack: It finally went, I think. We’ll see in a little while.
The other thing on the agenda for today is a foray to one of the local grocery stores to complete (hopefully), our shopping list for our return to the little house on Monday. I had hoped to get the lawn mowed again while we were here, but the monsoons are in full swing here and it ain’t gonna happen. (I exaggerate, but not by much.) Our 30 year old mower needs more than one day of dry weather before it can do it’s thing. le sigh
We’ll try to arrange for one of our landscaping friends to come by and mow when it dries out a bit.
Now I need to get cleaned up and dressed. Y’all take care out there.
Back from Aldi. I got some steaks, just because, ground beef for meatloaf and sketty sauce, almonds, peanuts, and a few other things. Tomorrow, I’ll build the meatloaf and make the sauce.
Getting Roxy down for a nap is becoming a challenge. She came out a couple of times, and I finally went back to her room, changed her (again) and we read a book. She closed it before we were done, and she finally slept. Similar challenges at night, but IMHO, daughter tries to put her down too early. I don’t offer my opinion, tho - it’s been made clear that it’s not welcome. So she runs up and down the stairs 3 or 4 times to settle the baby…
Cabbage is stuffed, and in a little while, I’ll put it in a baking dish with 'maters and sauce. I don’t usually bake it, but I know this is how several recipes are, so we shall see. I’m thinking N.O.T. chunks-n-onions on the side. I’ll put them in the oven at the same time.
Howdy Y’all! Been an icky, dreary, rainy day here at da cave. Some severe weather and a couple of tornadoes reported south of us, but no loss of life so there’s that. More severe weather is on the way through the evenin’. I made the chikin, green beans, smashed N.O.T. and bizkits for N.O.L. ‘Twas nummy and we were both stuffded and needed nappage to recover. Any need to feed this evenin’ will be via forage.
Happy St. George day Nuts and BooFae!
Seriously, has anybody heard from Spidey?
I think I shall see what Netflix has to offer. I must needs to be entertained.
doggio, Nelson challenges machinery too, only his choice is the vacuum cleaner. Must be the terrier way.
Mooooooooom, my grandmother always put tomato sauce on her stuffed cabbage. My grandfather’s Aunt Louise, though, did the gravy thing.
I’m kinda worried about spidey too.
Irked, came home, walked the dog and had supper. During the Zoom meeting this morning, the boss and I decided that if there was a mess of counts in the queue Monday morning, I’d come in Tuesday instead of Wednesday. I’ll [del]take over[/del] borrow the facilities supervisor’s office (he’s going to be out next week) to maintain distance from the old bat, but that will allow us to get things wrapped up for month end.
I just got off the phone with Spidey. We had a nice chat about a number of things, he’s fine, just been busy with real life. I told him I thought about posting his phone number here so all of yinz could call him, but then he reminded me that he has not only my phone number and real name but also my address. Uh oh …
