Gordie is feeling better. Watched the Canes rebroadcast of their 06 Cup run. Made bake fried chicken for dinner, with home made mac n’ cheese and corn with jalapenos and tomatoes.
I really want a TR-6
It is a few weeks into self isolation.
Remind him i know his haunts in Conshohocken. And about Puppy Fight Club.;)
missred, did you see the mockumentary "Best in Show"? Near the end the one couple is recording a song, the title of which is “Doing it terrier style.”
**
dogbutler**, your mention of dinner makes me think we need to do a virtual dinner, a potluck or something. Maybe Sunday afternoon?
**
Old Wench**, did you ever read the thread “The Horror of Blimps”? It got reprinted in a British ballooning magazine. I have a copy and told the author I now knew his real name, to which he replied that was too bad, now he had to hunt me down and kill me. Joking of course, but I thougt of that when you mentione spidey.
I’m going to start working on my taxes tomorrow. I’m glad the filing date was pushed back, I always procratinate. But since in the last couple of years I’ve had to pay, I don’t mail it until the last minute. Not going to let this government going to get it any sooner than I have to.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 81 and N.O.S. this afternoon. We got two and a half inches of rain yestiddy. I am convinced eighty percent of that happened between around eleven a.m. to one p.m. That was one heavy rain durin’ that time! The big plan for the day is to go to the Pic 'n Save to purchase Diet Coke as they have a big sale on that right now. I’ve mentioned before that we are partial to Diet Poopsie, but will buy what’s on sale. We’re old and cheap! Sup shall be maik intartoobz pizza and sallit. Other than that, just another day sheltered in place.
Miss Owl thanks for checkin’ up on Spidey. Glad he’s OK.
CupCakes a virtual potluck? I’ll make my famous congealed spam and liver mush sallit!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, since I shall go out into the public I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is such a bother!
Thanks, Miss Owl - you’re da best! I met **Spidey **eons ago, and I know I knew his name, but, well, old brain, yanno. I hope you told him he’s a slscker for ignoring us. Real life? Hah!
I woke around 2 from a weird and disturbing dream, and I didn’t fall back to sleep till almost 4:30. I heard lots of rain - our bedroom window was open and there were loud drips on the plastic covering the firewood pile under the window. It actually woke my sweetie up. From what I can tell, it’s stopped, or at least lulled.
The only thing I have to do today is deposit a check at the credit union. Then I’m going to make some masks from the cloth napkins that have been in the hutch since forever. I’m in a quandry how to label the sizes, tho. L & M for large and medium or lady and man? Hmmmmm…
Regarding vacuum cleaners, Higgs neither attacks nor runs - she mostly just avoids. Taz, on the other hand, looks annoyed with the noisy thing. Ziva cowers, but then that’s what she does best anyway. And Roxy thinks it’s hilarious when I run into her toes with it.
So Gordie had some more intestinal distress, and Alex Catt hornked, all before 0700. I have made the executive decision to skip coffee, and go straight to whiskey.
swampy, not the potted meat in aspic, with onions?
Morning all. Will dress and do my braunsweiger run once I finish typing this, twas’ done twe’re best done quickly. If I remember I’ll stop at walmart and donate my plastic bags. The rain is gone (at least until tonight) and temps should get close to 70F.
doggio, hope dog and cat get better. And the whiskey holds out…
Howdy Y’‘all! I have returned from my adventure to the grocery sto’. We are now well stocked with Diet Coke. I also got some ‘nanners, cause, well, ‘nanners. I considered gettin’ my hair done, bowlin’ a few frames, makin’ a stop by the gym and then goin’ for a massage and tattoo, since we can now do all these things in Jawja,, but didn’t want to over do it, so I was sensible and came back home.
doggioCupCakes said potluck, not a fancy sit down dinner.
Afternoon, mumpers! I am at irk but not irking as I have not a lot of irk to do, and it’s Friday so I Don Twanna
It’s another beautiful N.O.S day today so I’ve been for a lunchtime walk round the local park and then had a very large bowl of tuna salad when I came back. I is stuffeded now. I shall be sitting here until 4pm, whence it is decreed that my friend in Spain will do her daily farcebook live session and read to her adoring listeners. She’s working through Simon King’s “Wild Life” book and reads to us for half an hour a day. It’s actually very soothing and reminds me of my younger days watching Jackanory on the tellywidgeon.
After that, I shall take myself off to do a half hour workout now that I’ve found a means of casting my dinky phone to the big telly and I can see what I’m meant to be doing instead of squinting at the phone and attempting to listen to the instructor.
My turn to cook tonight so dinner will be chicken and mushroom curry. Then, it being Friday, tradition demands films and cocktails.
It was St George’s day yesterday Swampy? Glad I’ve got you murricans here to remind me, it’s something I normally celebrate with relief when I realise it’s just that, and not the BNP moving into the area.
Walked up to the fruit 'n veg place for some, well, fruit 'n veg, plus some more milk, beans and bulk mustard seed (I sprout it, and use a lot in some recipes). Got the first of the local strawberries, which were expensive, but I have cream, and I figured the whole lot was still less than I usually spend on car fuel for the week. Just tried one; worth it. Shame they wouldn’t survive being sent over for your potluck, so I’ll just have to scoff the lot.
Speaking of the car, the neighbour has finally admitted that he ain’t gonna sort it out, he had thought he’d have more time with the lockdown, but he does tractor repairs, and he’s been flat out with all the farms round here and so many mechanics being furloughed. So, I have my spare key back, and the garage that I usually go to luckily turned out to still be open, if very busy, so it’s going in to be looked at next Tuesday first thing. Please don’t let me forget, because I am losing track of days.
One of the companies we work with sent us a signed contract. I printed it off, filled in our part, and signed it. Now I just need to email it to our partner. Except…
It’s on paper. It needs to be scanned into a .pdf. I tried using Mrs. L.A.'s printer, but it won’t scan onto my Mac. (Even if it did, she doesn’t know if it will scan multiple pages into one document.) So I need to find a business center that’s open during the shutdown, or else go to Seattle on Monday to use the printer there. (It scans and emails.)
OK, folks, I’ve made the one sided executive decision to have a virtual potluck here on Sunday. It will start at 1:00PM CDT. You can bring anything you want. If you decide to bring potent potables, give us their name so we can look for them in the local liquor stores. Those are open, huh.
If you bring regular food I would humbly ask, if it’s something you make yourself, to include a recipe(s). Not required, but I’m going to assemble a little booklet afterwards.
You can show up early or late, you will be welcome whenever you come. I have a “backyard” we can hang out in, and you can come inside to virtually use any facilites you need.
SCal has forgotten all about rain, and the heat has been turned on. It’s supposed to be in the 90s all across the Southland.
I’m glad I don’t have to go anywhere!
Mr VOW has reached a recovery milestone today! He’s driving all by himself! The car needs oil change, etc, so he took it to the Ferd dealership. The Son-in-law followed him, to bring him home after the drop off.
Many little steps!
FWIW, I also am a member of the Class of 71. I made it to our 20-year reunion, and that was hideously expensive. Maybe our 50-year reunion will be at Denny’s. Then we all can order from the senior menu. I have the feeling that any 50-year reunion is just a long recitation of who is dead.
I hope we’re not still on Shelter-in-place in 2021!
~VOW
I loaded Roxy in the car for a ride to the credit union, just to get her out of the house. When we got home, she and I had leftover pizza for lunch, with a side of cucumber slices. She’s napping, and I just finished building some sketty sauce that’s simmering, and a 3+# meatloaf that required freezer rearrangement. No more meat shopping till we eat some of what’s in there!
Shortly, I will start cutting up fabric for face masks. I’d like to find some plain white cotton for the liner - I’ll go look for an old pillowcase.
But first, **FCD **wants a grilled PB&J with raspberry J!
Mrs. L.A. scanned the three pages of the document and emailed them to my work address. There, I copied the images and pasted them into a Word document, then exported it as a .pdf file. My boss suggested the company might buy me my own printer for working at home. It would be nice to get one that A) WORKS WITH MY MAC! B) Is wireless, so I don’t have to take the computer over to it; and C) Is capable of multi-page scanning for making .pdf files.
flyboy, glad the printer problem is being solved. Nice of your boss to spend money on his employees at this time.
Vow, good news on Mr. Vow, hope he keeps improving.
FCM, a grilled PB&J? I don’t recall ever hearing about those…
nut, boo fae, sometimes I forget you’re 5-6 hours ahead of me. Boo fae, that reading sounds like fun. Oh, and nut? DON’T FORGET THE TUESDAY CAR APPOINTMENT!!!
Swampy, I’ve been buying bananas too, don’t usually have them in the house, but something just has me picking up a bunch when I’m at the store.
Cupcakes, I’m not very good at making…well, everything, but I’ll see what I can do.
All shopping is completed, Wal-mart had ground beef but not in patties, so I had to make (and guess the weight) on my own. No braunswieger so I went with the fish deli meat (Ah-baloney). Need to restock the frozen foods, but that’ll be my trip out next week.
Wound up staying home today due to digestive woes (tripped my gag reflex HARD while brushing teeth and it took over an hour for my stomach to stop griping). Must go collect the WalMart pickup order today, no plans to actually go into the store. DH is lobbying for Taco Bell, and given that we still haven’t gotten him over 140lb, I’m amenable to any way to stuff more calories down him. He says Taco Bell always sits well, even if he’s not feeling entirely well.
Nor had I till I got married - apparently MIL used to make them for her boys. It’s a little trickier than grilled cheese in that you have to make the PB&J, then butter the outside. So I’ll butter one side, plop that down in the pan, then butter the other. Fortunately, our butter sits out, so it’s soft.
The stew part of the chickie & dumplins is simmering. In about 45 minutes or so, I’ll mix up the dumplins and plop them in the pot. It’s not traditional C&D - more like a slightly thickened chickie-veggie soup with doughy dumplins added at the end. I used a rib of celery, sliced, a bag of mixed veggies, a partial bag of peas-n-carrots (trying to empty the freezer) and some minced onion. And poultry seasoning. It smells yum!
Nothing to do till dumplin time. Ahhhhhh, chillage!
My boss looks out for me. I’ll miss her when she’s gone! Just got a call from the president about one of our services and he said something about being glad when people can come back to the office. I told him I thought I might have to drive down to use the scanner, but Mrs. L.A. got me what I needed. He told me to keep track of issues like this. He said that things have run surprisingly smoothly, and incidents like not having the proper tools can be addressed.
