Somewhere around 11PM on New Year’s eve, I spied on the cable TV guide “New Year’s with A. Cooper” or something like it. I turned on the channel, expecting to rock out with Alice-
disappointment abounded.
Yeah, when I think of New Year’s excitement, the FIRST name that comes to mind is Anderson Cooper. Hell, let’s get nuts and have Blitzer on next year! The crazy hijinks between those two cut-ups would be a New Year’s celebration indeed!
“Cool story bra” time: I once got paired with Alice Cooper and 2 other guys on a golf course in Florida. I was 19 at the time, and I thought it was the coolest thing EVAR! He was awesome, gave me some tips, and at the end of the round he signed my golf bag tag “Your game is my Nightmare- Alice”. 
Funny - when tuning into CNN, the first A. Cooper I think of is Anderson, not Alice.
My wife and I like watching Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. It’s funny, because he has no idea how to react to her. He’s also not Ryan Seacrest.
Another musician who was hosting NYE was Darryl Hall. On WGN he was performing mostly acoustic sets with guests ranging from Todd Rundgren to Fall Out Boy in this mountain lodge. (No Oates though.) The thing that puzzled me was billed as “NYE with Darryl” but there was no countdown and it was obviously taped months ago. That being said I would have loved a NYE countdown show with Darry Hall.
