A Creative MMP ...plus... It's Summer! A Garden Party MMP

I am NOT slacking, I am taking a BREAK. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! No really, I have the tunic cut out, the trim pieces cut and ironed into shape and the facing for the neck cut and pinned, and my thread and bobbins picked out. Now I just have to set up the sewing machine, and since it needs to go on the same small table my laptop happens to occupy most of the time… well… thought I’d just take a itty bitty break, okay? Plus, I want some ice cream before I get more into fabric so I don’t make a mess out of it…

Also, I need to load up da N.O.S(wamp) cooler with ice to carry through the rest of the afternoon since we’re just getting into the hot part. It’s pushing 90[sup]o[/sup] right now and it ain’t gonna get any cooler until near nine thirty or so. Stucco houses with large western exposures are so much fun in summer!

Poor Soapy, summer bugs are the worst–I’m sending you chicken soup thoughts to burn up those blechy virii!

Dog fight at the dog park, who could possibly have foreseen THAT? People are stoopid.

Mmmm… chocolate… okay, that settles that question–it will be choco ice cream bar, not butterfinger! nomnomnom…

Haha! I can just imagine mean ole Swampy - except NOT.

Daughter and I made it to the Sunday Farmer’s Market in Takoma Park - boy, that thing was busy and packed! I had a fairly specific list, though, so we were able to get what we wanted fairly quickly. We got fresh blueberries and peaches (just ate a peach and boy was it tasty!), some new red potatoes, fresh yellow and zucchini squash, and fresh wax beans. I remember eating wax beans as a kid, but you don’t see them very much nowadays. They are so delicious!

We stopped at Aldi on the way home, and I got a bit much there. I got the Aldi version of Captain Crunch peanut butter crunch–the CCPC costs nearly $5 in the regular supermarket, yet Aldi’s version was $1.69, I think. One thing I absolutely love about Aldi is that they carry a number of European candy bars. There’s this one chocolate wafers filled with hazelnut cream that’s just yummy, and today I also got some milk chocolate reserve. I got milk chocolate because my daughter doesn’t like dark, and she already can’t eat the hazelnut. But boy, that stuff is good. Of course, I haven’t had and Green and Black’s yet.

I always, always forget what I want to add here, and especially who I wanted to offer hugs and good thoughts to, so hugs and good thoughts to ALL.

Yikes, almost Monday - what a revolting thought that is. LOL

Hmmmmmmmmm… apparently friend’s new toy does not have a SIM card. The drama just keeps on goin’… What to do panics he. Take the damn thing back to the AT&T store says I. Why would it not have one!!! Yes, we checked the box it came in. No SIM card. Heck, I have no idea how to open the dang thing to put it in even if’n there was one. I have decided I don’t want one for sure now.

Thus endeth the latest saga of new toy drama.

I am working on Mt. Laundry. At least 10 loads. Blankets are getting washed first.

Swampy, did your friend already have an AT&T phone? 'Cuz if so then you just move the SIM from one phone to the new one…

Quick and easy supper tonight - Amish corn on the cob and leftover sloppy joes. Served on throw-away plates, so the dishes are done, too. In a few minutes, I’ll top it off with some black cherry ice cream. Yum.

So, who the heck messed with the space-time continuum and made the weekend go so doggone fast? Knock it off, m’kay??

Drama solved! The SIM was in the new toy just not in if you know what I mean. Since I decided to be Mr. Sweetie Pants I googled iphone + SIM card and learned how to access the card. I called friend and told him what to do. You actually have to open it by unbendin’ a paperclip and pokin’ the little hole on top of the phone and it just pops open. The card was in there. I told him to make sure the card was inserted firmly in the little holder and to pop it back in. Voila! It works. I know cause he called me on it.

I deserve lots of karma points for this. And beer. And cookies. And ice cream. And burly men to fan me, give me massages and attend to my every need.

Blergh. Am tired. Dug out an (almost) entire bed of lillies of the valley, redug the drainage trench and put down landscape fabric and pea gravel, and weeded a bit.
Will watch HP4 tonight as a mindless way to pass time.

I’m thinking of writing a book–a novel, perhaps a murder mystery. What say you?

Geez, swampy, you don’t expect much for a little favor, do you?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmmmmm… a semi-autobiographical science fiction fantasy murder mystery would be interestin’.

Hey, I had to think all of five minutes before I googled and found the solution. Plus I went from bein’ Mr. Meanie Pants to bein’ Mr. Sweetie Pants to do all this so I’m owed hyuuuuuuuuge.

Is it too late or too early to get in on an MMP?

I’ve a rare weekend off (or as I started to type it, a “rare weekend oof”).

Two things: (1) how can I get hold of norinew? After reading about her poignant thread about her daughter’s molestation, I offered to put my $$ where my big mouth is. If she’s still taking funds toward a restraining order for the offending neighbors. I apologize for not getting in touch w/her sooner. Post #49 is my excuse (weak as it may be).

(2) I just finished watching the Hallmark Channel’s “Mystery Woman”. The current episode,“A Wild West Mystery” had an actor who was also in an episode of Star Trek TOS. The “Mystery Woman”,s character was Zeke Foster. Can anyone help me find out which ST episode he was in? I remember him w/dark hair (I watched ST in black & white back then), but I do remember the crooked nose. Thanks for your help.

Norinew, you’re still in my prayers. Let me know how I can help.

Love, Phil

Well, phil, you are demonstrably neither! I don’t think Norinew hangs out here much, have you tried PM-ing her?

Absolutely, Rigs, and I’ll volunteer to be your first reader if you like! I keep thinking I’d like to try something of the sort but I really have no idea of where to start–I’ve always been an essayist, and although I read fiction like a madwoman I don’t know how one would begin to essay (heh) a novel. Do you figure out who your characters are, or make up an outline or just start at the beginning? Iz a pozzlment…

Yay for Mr Nicely Swampypants! Your burly men are in the male… :stuck_out_tongue:

I am NOT EITHER procrastinating, I had to go to the store for hamburger buns 'cuz it is much too hot to cook inside today.

Y’all think so badly of me–I can hear you thinking!

Or is that my conscience? Dammit!

SmartAleq, how do I “pm”? What is “pm”? Peri Menopausal? Precious Mom-ism? Paradise, Michigan? (which, btw, is about 7 hrs from Hell, Mich.) Preternational Mortification?
Merely procrastinating?

Love, Phil

phil, just go back to that thread and click on norinew’s name in blue on one of her posts. It should have a drop-down menu that gives you some options. Pick the one that says to private message her. It’s like e-mail but internal to the message board.

I KNEW IT!!

You try to act all tough and mean, but you’re just a big softie inside. . . like a big ol’ teddy bear. Hah!

At the very least. Would that be chocolate ice cream? In a cup? :stuck_out_tongue:

What? Now you’re ignoring me?

I find I have first lines popping into my head with increasing frequency. I think I’ll start with the murder, which leads directly to character, then work on plot. I will NOT post it here, since it then becomes property of the Reader, but Ill let you all know how it goes… But first, ice cream.

Heffalump and Roo, I’m sorry to say norinew’s thread, originally in MIMSIPS, is no longer there. Any other ideas?

Love, Phil

Hey there phil, I’m not Roo, but I have been following the thread this week. Norine’s thread is here. Looks like the last post was on Thursday, so no wonder I found it on page 3.

Could I have burly men wearin’ cups?

Too early in the morning for this!

Weather promises to be hot and humid, as usual. Ick.
