A Creative MMP ...plus... It's Summer! A Garden Party MMP

First on two! Woohoo! Booya! In yer fa—

Uh, yeah. Anyway.

It’s bloody hot this morning. It must have rained a little last night ‘cos there’s wet patches around and it’s disgustingly humid out there. Gotti - You guys probably have it worse in San Fran, temperature wise, so I guess I can’t really complain, but even so. I feel like I could walk outside with a mug and bring a steaming cup o’ summer back in with me.

And work is already turning into a madhouse, and it’s not even 9 yet. Yesterday insane, and I suspect today won’t be any different, and possibly worse.

Back shortly for more. (Insanity permitting)

Morning all. Throat scratchiness is holding steady… maybe if we all cross our fingers and wish really really hard, it’ll go away.

{{Pie}} Boy, do I ever know that feeling (the random crying, that is). Have you discussed any sort of CBT or talk therapy with your doc? The fact that you’re aware enough of your moods to know your warning signs is a good start… and as silly as CBT can be, it’s often been the only thing standing between me and The Black Pit of Misery.

donkeybear… I’ve never heard of a college offering bowling as a class. Ignorance fought. Your planned schedule sounds like it’ll be about as much fun as post-secondary education could possibly be. Lucky you!

ETA: Mindy, I hear ya on the hot and humid. It’s downright sauna-like. On the bright side, the weather did my ironing for me - I stepped outside with a wrinkled skirt, and within 5 minutes it was completely wrinkle-free.

Muppet, I don’t know if they offer CBT or not. Maybe Shadow knows since it sounds like she’s been in the Kaiser system alot longer than I have. Honestly, I feel very limited in my mental health care choices. It seems like I get one choice and if I don’t like her then I can choose someone else if I want to travel great distances to see them. And… I don’t like her. I’ll send her an email, though, and see what’s up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also, I took golf as my college physical education requirement. I got an A but I surely can’t golf to save my soul. (I blame left-handedness.) :stuck_out_tongue:

Gratz on the new baby, Phil! Gratz on the not-so-new kid, Bobbio!

Which reminds me, is Nat sleeping yet?

cb, I don’t know what that “intro” involves, but when I went to college, Orgo I was a 3rd-year course; most of the stuff I later had to take in grad school was between high school and 2nd-year material for me. The 4000-level orgo from grad school was a very badly taught repeat of some barely-related materials from Orgo I. If you’re having problems with concepts, specially if you happen to study mechanisms, give me a holler, I’m bad at memorizing reactions but great at reaction mechanisms.

And… The health department just stopped in.

Fortunately since I’m a caterer, she always stops by to make an appointment to inspect us because we may not be open every day. So, we made an appointment for Thursday. <gulp>

I’ve skimmed, but busy…

Good for doc appt, Pie. {{{Pie}}} Be happy!

Yay for Vunderkind.

Hot here, too. But that’s to be expected in Southeast Texas in July. :frowning:

::zooms out::

I had fun with that yesterday. They told me they were cancelling my financial aid so I sent an email to someone I was told Could Deal With This Common Problem (not recognizing Thesis as a full-time class). No reply. I went down to the office yesterday first thing in the morning (and still had to wait in line for twenty minutes). “Oh, just fill out the form and we’ll send it to the appeals committee.” An appeals committee. For a problem they have CONSISTENTLY EVERY SINGLE SEMESTER with Thesis students. A committee. So now I’m chewing my nails off hoping I can finish my degree this fall without having to take some “ABT” time (All But Thesis) while I earn enough money to pay for ONE CLASS so I can graduate.

Which brings us to the Drama at the SpazCat Kennel.

WOWCrack Roommate has been consistently late on his rent for the last three months. This is extremely uncool as that kind of interferes with getting little things like the mortgage paid. He’s a nice guy, but having to browbeat him every week for rent money is getting old. So Complicated Roommate and I have been holding Homeowner’s Discussions (as we both still own the house) and we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s ultimatum time. He has to pay everything up this week. If not, he’s got a couple of weeks to find a new place because he will not be living with us anymore. I’m really hoping that he does move out for the following reasons:

  1. He refuses to believe I still own the house. Ever since Complicated Roommate came back, he thinks I’m just a renter and won’t listen to me when I tell him to do something.

  2. He’s stealing towels, pillows from the couch, Complicated Roommate’s fraternity pledge shirt (found in the laundry this weekend), and my CD cleaner and claiming he knows nothing about where they are. I’m very tempted to go in his room when he’s not there and get my stuff back.

  3. He keeps bitching about how hot his room is, but refuses to change a few simple things like, turning the computer off occasionally, not running his big-screen TV all the time every weekend, and closing the goddamned window when the air conditioner’s running.

  4. He’s been taking creatine and I think he may be starting to take steroids. As someone who had to take steroids that were prescribed by a doctor for a blood problem years ago, I have no patience for that shit. I know firsthand what that does to you and I am not going to live in a house tiptoeing around someone’s 'roid rage.

  5. Complicated got a job offer as a CNA in Asheville that he’ll take if it pans out. I really don’t feel comfortable being alone in the house with WOWCrack without Complicated there due to the whole disrespect and possible steroid thing.

I told Complicated to talk to Adopted Dad about this since Adopted Dad’s dealt with worse tenants than this before (one set tried to burn his trailer down). I’m having trouble sleeping because of this and the stress is killing me.

Okay, unloading off, you can move those pallets to the back now.

Morning all. “Sick Begone” vibes going out to those who need it. Congrats, phil. Good job on the boy, bobbio. Where’s fcm?

I have nada to report today. BO-ring.

Tupug

I have no idea what the weather here is like – I haven’t stepped outside the office since before 9 AM
But it’s always high 80’s with medium humidity here (during June-October) - except for those really bad days where temps zoom near 100 with either 0% or 1357% humidity.

**Pie **-- when it rains, it pours, doesn’t it? :frowning:

:Waves back to GT:
:Waves at Nava, too. Just because.:

ETA: {{{Spaz}}} – seems like you’re being barraged by trouble, too. Hang in there!

Ahem. How soon we forget. :frowning:

:going to sulk in the corner:

:waving to gt from the corner:

Well, I remembered half of you, too. I just couldn’t for the life of me figure out if it was **Heffalump **or **Roo **I was remembering…

I am not a regulatory lawyer!
I am not a regulatory lawyer!
I am not a regulatory lawyer!
I am not a regulatory lawyer!
I am not a regulatory lawyer!
I am not a regulatory lawyer!
Gaaaahhhhhhhh! I frackin’ hate this sh*t!!!

Think happy thoughts! Think happy thoughts! Think happy thoughts!

I am getting out of here next week! I’m not really annoyed, just p*ssed at being given boring-as-mud work that has SFA to do with my area of expertise. Oh, and BTW, I hate Insurance law!

:waves to Roo::

Ooh, we’re all pissy this morning, eh?

GOOD MORNING, ALL!!

You can kill me later. That sucks about the roommate, the job, the BOH (but I appreciate the BOH given what I’ve seen in kitchens in my time), the fill-in-the-blank.
My house smells like sebum. No idea why, but it sure is gross. I am washing our sheets (but I do change them regularly), the litter box is clean. I am cleaning the dishwasher, and the disposal smells ok. The garbage was taken out yesterday. It’s an oily smell, not quite an old fried grease smell. Ever smell greasy hair? That’s the smell. YUCK. I think it just might be damp from the effing humidity outside (I HATE SUMMER) and possibly some mildew in the basement that my stuffy nose is translating as sebum, but none of that matters–it smells icky. :frowning:

To Do Today:
1.make hair appt for me and the boys
2.go to dermatologist-I now have a rash around my eyes. I look BEAUTIFUL!
3.get to laundromat to wash King sized comforter, dry at home if no more rain
4.dinner-need inspiration, have ground turkey thawing. I don’t do peppers, EVER.
5.clean something–something probably needs it and if you think I’m gardening in this heat and humidity you’re crazy!
6. get gas for the car
7. grade #2 son’s “homework”
8. put together #1 son’s driving stuff so he can take the btw next week.
What you are doing today?

swampy, no I can’t move any of them to the spring, because all of them except the Capstone class (and I’m not sure about it) are fall-only. Normally you wouldn’t have a student taking all three of those hard ones together, but since I’m gunning to get out in a year, I have to have them all this semester.

Spaz, isn’t it funny how EVERY semester everyone has problems with financial aid? I know at least 5 of my 7 semesters I was down in that office waiting in line for one reason or another. If I lived in Little Rock, I’d march on in there and demand justice, but I’m having to go through phone calls and emails to get everything done.

Sore throat is mostly gone this morning - weird thing though, apparently my body metabolizes Tylenol slowly, because if I take two Tylenol, they’re good for 10-12 hours. Dear Mumpers, does that make me a freak? (still got da toothache though, only 1 day until root canal day!)

Wow, how 'bout general hugs all around and air kisses for those of you with the ickies.

rigs, how about turkey burgers? Grate some zucchini up and mix it up with the ground turkey along with seasonings you like. Add a little grated cheddar cheese to the mix. The zucchini helps the turkey retain moisture as you’re grilling. Shape into patties. Throw on the grill. Serve on whole wheat or whatever type of buns you like. Add some lettuce, tomatoe, and mayo mixed with ketchup as condiments. I also like to slice avocados to use as toppers on the burgers.

It’s good.

It’s beautiful yet again, but here I am at work.

Since everyone seems to be having bad days, can I join the pity party? My back/shoulder’s been bothering me for the last week or so and has been making it hard to sleep. So I’m tired and in pain and grumpy.

I went to the chiropractor this morning so it should start to feel better, but I just hate having to deal with recurring pain in the first place. I’m 29! I’m too young for chronic pain! GRRRRRRRRR!

**Rigs ** are you sure you want to know what I’m up to today?

-Finish up laundry (almost done, waiting for some to dry)
-Finish packing clothes for camping
-Start packing the bathroom stuff that I can.
-Pick up the living room
-Make one batch of buns for sandwiches
-Make a dozen hot dog buns
-Make 4 hamburger buns
-Make a batch of sugar cookies (last batch is in right now) Kids are going to make sugar cookie pizzas camping, lol.
-Dice up veggies for camping
-Wash potatoes
-Wash and cut up fruit
-Mix up and patty burgers
-Marinate the chicken
-Make salsa
-possibly make Cheddar Bay Biscuits
-Clean small grill
-Do dishes late tonight so I don’t come home to a sink full of dishes
-Put mail on hold
-Put paper on hold
-Talk to neighbors about watering my small gardens
-Call mother in law about stuff she wanted me to pick up/do
-Wax appointment

And I"m sure there’s more…

Morning. Barely. Who sent the germs through the CD drive, right after I specifically asked you NOT to? I woke up this morning feeling like pure shite. My head is buzzing and my body hurts and I am Not Happy. And, alas, because the humidity is down, the dogs are Very Happy. A bad combination, me wanting to sleep and the Idiots running around barking happily at every person who walks by the house.

{{{Mumpers}}} who need it. Sympathy on the BOH, Pie – the hospital where Papa Tigs works is expecting the Joint Commission next week, so they’re going berserk. As he said, “It’s paranoia week!” Inspections do bring that out in people, don’t they?

And yes, Spaz and chaotic, financial aid is a pain in the tuchus. Even though he has the GI bill, we end up having to advance Young Tiger his tuition money each semester until the gummint coughs up the cash. There’s just no escaping the aggravation, is there?

And that definitely sucks about the roommate, Spaz. I suggest you ask him to move on to another place sooner rather than later. Even if he has a lease in place, it sounds like he’s violated it enough that you wouldn’t have any problems enforcing it. And all you don’t need is 'roid rage +disrespect.

And a hearty Word! to the leaving the window open when the AC is on. Papa Tigs opens the back door for the Idiots, then forgets it’s open. Then he has the nerve to complain because the electric bill last month was $100 higher than the previous month. Well, duh! And whose fault is that? Not mine; I spend all day every way walking back and forth to the back door, letting the Idiots out and then closing the door the second they both get back in.

I think  describes my mood perfectly today. I shall go back to sitting here at my desk feeling rotten and trying to convince myself I don’t feel so rotten I can’t get a bit of work done.

Read through this thread and make sure none of it applies to your establishment.

Argh, already a buncha calls that materials are flooding in–gonna be bizzy today!

Couldn’t take my shower this morning because the litter box was so gross it’d gag a maggot off a corpse truck–this after having to inform Himself last night that it’s not wise to leave the goddamned garbage sitting for days with meat wrappings during the summer. So I dumped the thing, hosed it out, bleached it and refilled it and of course the darned cat was SO grateful he ran right in there and squeezed himself like a toothpaste tube. Bleargh… Tell me again why I need a man around the house? :smack: Oh yeah, sex. I forget sometimes. :dubious:

{{{Pie, Spaz, donkeybear, Tigs, Mahna[sup]2[/sup], taxi, Dotty & Rigs’ nose}}}

If I recall correctly, the Kaiser system is very good about preventive health care and that includes mental health–doesn’t hurt to check, right? Big D is nothing to fuck about with and CBT is a great suggestion…

Yay Phil! Grandbabies are so cool, aren’t they? All the fun, none of the responsibility!

Go, VBob, keep ruining that kid until he’s all fixed up–the world needs more EMT’s for sure.

Second turkey burgers, Rigs, I like to chop up garlic and shallots and onions very tiny, mix them into the turkey along with fresh chopped sage and thyme and oregano and a smidgen of mustard, then mix in some bread crumbs or flour to help them hold together, then pattify and pan fry with a bit of oil–they come out kinda crunchy and moist and totally yummy. Asiago or jack cheese all over the top, drool. Avocado & bacon are also the tits…

Dammit, gotta run, be happy y’all!
