Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Flyboy, that salad sounds good. Although by the time my roast beef is hairy enough to need a shave, I usually toss it. ![]()

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to deal with candle duty over to the church house and shall also go by
Wally*World
to pick up a few needed items whilst out and about. Beyond that I foresee the usual sloth and some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be chikin nachos.
talky your weekend involved smugglin’ illegal cremains, and legal drugs. It’s all in how ya spin it!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the great unwashed attire. Life is so hard!
Happy Firday Y’all!
It took a few years, but I figured out how it works best - I let him go at whatever the problem is, I hand tools and such, and when he reaches a point and seems to be stuck, I ask if he wants me to try. I’m also a pretty good sounding board - sometimes if I get him to explain what he’s doing, I ask questions that joggle his brain. We actually work well together… most of the time.
It really cooled overnight - 57° in my back yard. Low 80s and sunny today - perfect for hanging the laundry out, so guess what today’s plan is!
I’m going to change the sheets, too. FCD wants to go buy some cheap jeans for me to cut off so he’ll have shorts. He looked at Duluth Trading’s site, but he won’t spend $50+ for shorts. I can hem denim pretty quickly.
I’d like to run to Aldi, too, and Food Lion has Diet Coke at 5/$11 for the 6-packs of bottles. Lots of little stuff on the agenda today.
Happy Firday!
Happy Firday!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels and throw rugs ready for the dryer and a load of clothes on deck. Just the usual Friday chores, picking up my tags and a prescription slated for the day.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Morning all. Apparently the long nap yesterday didn’t hurt my sleeping routine, stayed in bed for the full 8 hours, so should be ready to go today. Only thing on the agenda is swimmin’ at the gym, but I may also clean up the kitchen…or not. No rain and 84F so a nice day, but next week we’re due to get into the 90’s, which won’t be as much fun…
nellie, hope daughter feels ok. Flew a lot when I was working (less now) and never had an issue, but that Antarctica cruise in 7 months makes me wonder if i should pack anything…
talkie, sounds like an interesting day. The Dude would approve.
OK, need to check the mornin’ internettin’ and be about the day. All y’all have a good Firday.
Good enough I had to ask the restaurant for the recipe!
[‘Add with’? It was originally ‘Top with’, but I didn’t want to use ‘top’ twice and forgot to delete ‘with’.]
Um… I really don’t need to hear about you ‘tossing your salad’, m’kay? ![]()
The dude abides.
Well, I do anyway. I’m so glad it’s Friday. One more weekend of travel before I can cool my heels for a couple of weeks before heading to da beach. My daughter has a swim meet about two hours away, which is just far enough to make coming back pretty inconvenient, especially since her events start at 7 a.m. So we’ve got a hotel and plans to eat Chinese food and do our nails tonight. I’m more than okay with that (though I’m not as excited about the nails since I tend to slop as much as I can in the general direction of my nails and hope for the best). It’ll be fun.
Oh, well - off to work. Brain hurts, tree stump grinding guys came early this morning, so at least that’s done.
Well, I went to bed and to sleep at 10 PM and woke up for good at 3:30, and I’m itchy. I called the allergy clinic. (Though I don’t have allergies, they’re the mast cell disorder experts.) Did I want the nurse line or the Xolair (injections I get) line? Chose the latter. No answer, so I left a VM. They say they return messages within 72 hours. I hope it’s a lot shorter than that. I guess if it’s not today, it’ll be 72 hours, though, since it’s the weekend.
I have phone calls to make. Do I stay off the phone in case they call or risk having to hang up on whomever I’m speaking with?
It’s gym day. I’ll trudge over there if I can get the itching down somewhat. I also need to do laundry. Such excitement!
wordy, sounds like a fun trip! I’m also not expert with nail polish and seldom wear any, but when my daughter was in middle school, she LOVED “spa nights,” and they usually involved nail polish, plus chatter and laughter. I miss those days.
Howdy all. It’s my last day of bed rest, unless I’m still really hurting, in which case it will be extended.
We’re having some meal kits delivered today. They sound good and hopefully will expand our dinner repertoire.
Today we’re under an extreme heat warning. It’s going to be a “fun” summer.
Take care and Happy Friday!
Another Queeg-less day, and it went smoothly. But I think Gordie ate Fred. ![]()
You are a sick, twisted individual to think that. I admire that in a person.
We get that next week. And humidity. Oy.
I’m a little sick and twisted… ![]()
I hate UPS, or Ziply Fiber, or both. I called them to cancel our internet service at the old house, (100+ miles away.) They said they wanted their router back and they would mail me a box to ship it in. They distinctly said ‘mail’. So I gave them our Post Office box number, 'cause we don’t have mail delivery here. They were cool with that. They did NOT say “oh, we ship UPS” or anything of that sort.
If they had I would have given them our street address, 'cause UPS doesn’t do PO boxes.
I shoulda asked. ![]()
So they sent their box, by UPS, to our old address ![]()
I just spent several minutes trying, unsuccessfully, to log into UPS to get the delivery address changed. Their system sucks.
We’ll have to have our daughter unit go by the old house after work today and collect the box from the porch I guess.
Always something.
The sale closes in 11 days. Unless an earthquake happens or aliens invade, or something. ![]()
Y’all have a great weekend.
Phooey. Hot Pocket breached containment at both ends, so eating it without making a huge mess is going to be tricky.
I do not envy DH doing construction work with a predicted high for the day of 105F (about 40.6C).
yeah this happens more and more these days …the quality has slipped as has the variety
I’ve always had that problem with the things. Still do eat them at least occasionally, though.
And in random weird news, maybe not the best approach to the matter?
Make the calls. That will surely prompt them to call you back!
Moving sucks. At least you have an end date.
100F at 10am. I’m seeing white wisps of clouds in the sky, hopefully we will have monsoons this year.
Hubs went to his favorite brewing supply store snottsdale yesterday. He said it was 114 when he left.
Looking over all the boxes and bags of stuff he carried in, I could tell that we were going to be saving a whole LOT of money making his beer instead of buying it, LOL! He’s bottling today so he has room to try out his new setup.
A couple of years ago, I bought a metal kitchen cart for hauling stuff out of the cars and up the ramp. Hubs thought I was wasting money on something we wouldn’t use but would have to store. As it turned out, it’s good I put out the money on a good sturdy cart because it has become an important tool for his beer making hobby. (He makes his beer in five gallon batches, those buckets are pretty heavy.)
nettie, does your DH “cook” on his dashboard? I only heated things like pizza or leftovers but I knew folks who did some serious baking on hot days.
Not that I know of, but I’ve seen it done on TV news in this area, with a tray of cookie dough.
All laundry is done - the last load came out of the dryer and has been folded. The other three loads are still on the lines. I collected the household garbage, emptied the dishwasher, scrubbed the terlit in our bathroom, scooped the cat box, picked up FCD’s meds, and went to Aldi.
Now I need to decide what we’re having for supper. Shrimp, mebbe??
Back when I was still working, I put some pizza between my sun screen and windshield to heat for my lunch. A co-worker saw it and was all WHAT IN THE WORLD and ICK and UNSANITARY. My response was something like “Whatever, been doing it for years and never got sick.”
My BFF (this was before we were that close) started by agreeing that it looked strange but construction guys in the Valley did it all the time. They started throwing food safety factoids around and my BFF made her husband go through his work parking lot and take pics of his co-worker’s dashboards. Co-worker gave up when the pics started flooding in. Some of that food looked really good, too!
